I highly recommend Portland Movers Company…read more I used Portland Movers Company 2 times recently. First for moving from my things from my sold home to storage until I found a home to purchase and then a second time from storage to my new home. For each time from the initial contact for the appointment to the final move I could not have asked for better service. All of my questions were answered, I was informed the evening before and the morning of the moves of arrival times so I was prepared. The movers took great care of my things even though they worked quickly and ensured things were left where I wanted them.

I rarely write reviews, but this one is warranted. We booked Portland Movers Company for a full…read morepack and full move between two units in the same apartment building. We paid for full service because we are both currently injured and could not do the work ourselves, and we came to them through a family recommendation. The crew was scheduled to arrive between 11:00 and 12:00 and showed up around 2:00. We were told there had been an accident, and we understand things happen. But by the time they arrived, we had already packed everything except the kitchen ourselves. Packing the kitchen alone took them roughly three and a half hours, and even then the refrigerator was never emptied and items were left sitting on the counters. The team seemed very inexperienced. They needed direction on the simplest tasks, had zero spatial awareness, and moved at a snail's pace. They were also strikingly inefficient, taking a single item at a time to the elevator and riding up to the new unit instead of loading it first, and theykept doing it even after we suggested otherwise. Eventually we asked them to stop handling our dressers because we were worried about damage and about someone getting hurt. To keep the time and the bill from spiraling, we moved boxes, cleared out both closets, and carried furniture ourselves. It is not an exaggeration to say my partner and I did at least 60% of the move. I ended up moving two large dressers on my own with an injured ankle because they couldn't figure out how to maneuver it into the closet. Afterward we sent a detailed message, and owner Natalya called. The conversation centered almost entirely on the late arrival. The labor we ended up doing and the unfinished kitchen and refrigerator were never really engaged with. When we raised how inexperienced the crew seemed, we were told they had more than 10 years of experience, which flatly contradicted what we had just watched. The most she offered was a $100 discount, which she described as the entire profit on the job. We have used movers several times before for larger and more complicated moves, and every one went better than this. I would not recommend this company.

The job was to move my furniture off my old carpet that I'd had for over 20 years and remove it to the dumpster downstairs. I had a new, Ruggable rug going down in its place. But first I had a bit of clean up to do. As I was sweeping 20 years worth of dirt, cat litter and car hair up from the perimeters that I hadn't seen in decades, it really wasn't as bad as I had imagined. The guys asked me if they wanted them to open and assemble another piece of furniture I had sitting out in the hallway while they were waiting for me to clean up the floor. I told them I would be very grateful if they would do that. It took them mere minutes. And I am very thankful that they did that. I finished my cleaning and they got to work on laying the rug. A Ruggable isn't a normal rug. It's got two pads that line up side by side and then the rug is laid down on top pressing out wrinkles as you go. It's kind of tedious. But I got the softest padding and they did a great job laying the rug. It's beautiful. I love it. And I love these guys. They took such care with my furniture and moved everything right back to where it belonged. Their rates are the best. So much so I booked them to move my old futon out of here and move up my new loveseat. Unfortunately, an unforeseen emergency came up which is completely understandable. I appreciate all you've done for me. Sending love. 2025 - Review #8

To my pleasant surprise Eddie and his two associates showed up exactly on time. After a short conversation they went to work professionally protecting and loading my leather furniture and California king bed, along with many boxes and random household goods within 3 hours, which blew me away. We doubted all our furniture and household goods would fit into the one POD, so we had another smaller POD reserved. Because the guys from Pack My Truck were experienced and creative they got EVERYTHING into the one POD. This saved us $1,200.00 not having to have a second POD. These guys are great. Money well spent to save time, anxiety and my back. Highly recommend

They were very hard workers, efficient with time and worked well with each other. The guys were respectful to the family home. I couldn't be happier with our choice to hire this crew!

They refused to retrieve the items NOT designated junk and sent to the donation center. No clue why this was not possible because good communication skills were not in attendance in any way, shape or form. That includes management. I counted on these people to do for me what I can no longer do for myself and they failed miserably. They lost my Christmas collection. It took me more than 50 years to collect...they took it to the dump. A priceless oriental table went to the dump. An antique wooden, newly painted, porch slider...it went to the dump, too. I am still assessing the losses but nothing will make me feel better. I know it's only stuff to some, but is was my stuff, I spent a lifetime collecting it and it was up to me to dispose of, not some mover with the IQ of a tree stump. Finally, the only thing offered as compensation was some used furniture they had hanging around to replace what was lost. In other words, I can sit on a tack and spin or hold my breath 'til I turn blue. There is no compensation for the loss and no refund amount of any kind on the absolutely ridiculous amount I had to pay. Not even the tip.

As you can see, I normally leave positive reviews if I am impressed, and almost never any negative…read morecomment if I am disappointed. However, I feel compelled to write a negative one for this company. I got an in-person estimate from this company, which was $1295.72. I got multiple estimates, but no other company could beat this. So I hired them. We packed more than 90% of the things by ourselves. I attached photos taken at the time of home inspection performed 5 weeks prior to the move. See garage packed with boxes and living space with very few items left. Remember this is 5 weeks prior to the move. We kept putting things in storage spaces into garage. Also, since the new house is just a street away, we kept moving things by ourselves after the close date. By the time the mover arrived, there were few things left that needed to be packed. On the day of the move, they called me asking if they needed to bring anything. I asked them to bring several boxes for unpacked items. They ended up using only 5 boxes as Bill of Landing shows. Both my wife and I helped them. My wife packed almost all kitchen items since they required special care. I moved electronics (PCs, TVs, printers, etc) by myself without packing. After everything was done, they tried to charge me over $4000, but after taking a look at my puzzled face, a lead man spoke with the management, it came down to $2574.60. However, this was still twice as much as the estimate. He did not give me any warning that the final charge would be significantly higher than the estimate. I posted my initial review, and Robert called me the next day, and he said in an accusatory voice that the price went up because everything was not packed and they needed extra time packing. Give me a break! The average packing specialist costs $60 per hour. So, $1279 ($2574.60 minus $1295.72) is equivalent to 21 hours of packing. The fact is, the estimator underestimated the amount of items we had and the time it took to load/ unload them. We had two large bookcases (143" wide, and 110" wide) that needed to be separated and joined. As a result, they needed to run the truck twice. A website entitled "The Top 10 Moving Scams" says, "An 'estimator' who does a quick walk-through of your home without opening cabinets and taking note of exactly what you plan to move is going to be way off the mark." Also, in the process of moving, they broke several items, one of which was missing a part. I brought it to the lead man's attention at the end of the move. All he said was, "I will look for the missing part in our truck, and get back to you," but he never did. He did not mention anything about filing a claim. These items were not expensive, and I was not necessarily asking for compensation. All I was hoping was honest disclosure (whoever broke it should know) and prompt follow-up (the lead man did not contact me, unsure whether he even tried to find the missing part). If I had simply called them to file a claim, I am sure they would have accused me of not telling the crew on the spot, and made the filing process almost impossible. On the other hand, if a customer brings it to the crew's attention on the spot like I did, they will say,"OK, let us check, and we will get back to you," and they don't. Either way, they dodge customer's filing. After seeing my review, they called me immediately and turned their fault into mine saying, "you did not pack everything! You could have filed a claim for damaged items. It is clearly written in the contract!" I am taking this case to Small Claims Court.

There's an added cost with the HireAHelper platform. Moving out of the area, we consulted with Nick. We considered two or three people to help us move for a 2 bedroom apartment. We went ahead with three people, since we're on the 3rd floor in an apartment complex, and that was the right move. Jake, Josiah, and Chris showed up early! They were so efficient with a previous move that day that they called and said they were ready to go. We had ordered 2 relocubes through U-Pack and when they arrived - these things look smaller than we thought they would be. There's just no way we could have packed as efficiently as Jake, Josiah, and Chris did. They were so fast too. We hadn't packed as well as we could have. Moves are stressful. We had odd pieces of furniture and linen in garbage bags, and the crew was able to take them all and fit them into the cubes. They finished within 3 hours. With the containers, there's bound to be some jostling using the forklift to load them onto the truck, but I am worry-free. They did such a great job making sure things were tightly packed.
