I actually found out about Moss Hair Co. through someone I struck up a conversation with at the nail salon. She mentioned that she found her go to salon that specializes in dry cutting. At the time I have never really heard of such technique but I was intrigued because she said it was great if you want definitive layers and texture (which I did). I looked them up on Instagram and booked a spot with Marissa immediately. I went two separate times. Once for a cut, the other for balayage two weeks after. Both times I walked away extremely happy and feeling like a new woman. Marissa is extremely knowledgeable and will walk you through her thought process. Never have I felt so reassured to give someone full artistic liberties during my first visit. If you're in the market for a new salon, I would definitely recommend Marissa at Moss Hair Co. Don't waste your time on this salon. They did not even remotely achieve the correct hair color requested and even turned my hair red (I am blonde). The owner turned the blame around on me, the client and didn't offer any resolution, other then to pay the salon more money for a mistake that they did twice. Okay, we all want that beautiful, lived-in, Instagram worthy hair, right? And we all know how hard it is to find a new stylist that you can trust, who actually has the skill and expertise to be able to achieve exactly what you're looking for. But friends, search no more! Moss Hair Co is (in my opinion) THE best salon in Columbus, especially if you're looking for that gorgeous, wavy hair and perfect balayage that is so trendy right now. The staff here is so friendly and extremely professional, the salon space is clean and welcoming, and their products are fantastic. The two owners, Ross and Marissa, are both excellent at what they do, and have worked so hard to not only perfect their craft, but to also ensure that their staff is on that same level. You can check out the Instagrams of any of their staff members and see all of their gorgeous work for yourself. After looking all of them up, I felt confident that no matter who did my hair, that it would turn out fantastic. My most recent experiences were a cut from Kate, and a color from Marissa. Kate did a great job with the cut, was super easy to talk to, and did an excellent job styling it afterwards. (My waves lasted for 5 days until I washed it!) Marissa took on a big task with lightening my super dark hair to get it to a medium brown, closer to my natural. She worked quickly and efficiently, and I completely trusted her to achieve what I wanted. Her expertise is remarkable, and her technique with balayage application is the best I've seen. My hair turned out fantastic and I'm extremely happy with it. The only thing I was initially somewhat iffy about was the location. I'm not too keen on downtown traffic and parking, so I was nervous about where to park. But it was nowhere near as bad as I thought, lol! Both times I went to the salon I was able to find metered street parking right away, and only had to walk around the corner. I was really worried for no reason! So long story short- if you are searching for a new stylist or salon, this is your place. Every person who walks out of there has a perfect color or cut that makes you want to go wherever they go. No. No. No. I was in town on a business trip. Today is my one day off, and I hoped I could find someone talented with blonde hair. My first choice was booked, but she suggested this place. I walked in and was chased out immediately. Like i was trespassing. I simply asked about availability. I was told to read the front door. Appointment only. The font is nearly illegible. I would not book here EVER. There are plenty of high-end salons in downtown Columbus. So I want to just say this has been the best haircut I have ever had in my entire 24 years of living. I don't think you guys understand!! So Friday I came in and saw Megan she's super nice and doesn't judge at all and she has the most cutest outfits (not that the fit really is important here but still!! Lol) so I told her what I wanted and then she talked me through her process and he as she did my hair cut she reassured me of the process and everything. She gave me two options she brushes it out and then that's it cause that's a dry cut OR I could just go ahead and do the whole thing style cut dry whatever. I went ahead and just did the whole thing because I wanted to see my hair done right after. She showed me some products and honest to god these Kevin Murphy products YO THEY WORK! I used to use like seven different products in my hair and now I use two like wow ok! My curls have never looked so healthy and my self esteem hasn't been the greatest I've been through a lot and it really showed in me. So I left super excited got TONS of compliments on my new hair but then came Saturday and I saw this haircut I preferred over the kne I originally ASKED FOR so Megan didn't do anything wrong I'm just hella indecisive and can't make up my mind I was too scared to go shorter and more round but I remade an appt and Megan went ahead and did her magic I'm telling you SHE HAS GOT SOME SKILLS OK!! And BAM here I am totally new do and I was so in love like I cried in my car when I left because as a make up artist I get to make people feel good about themselves it was different to see myself in a whole new light I've been through a lot and like I said it showed. She made me feel so happy and Megan really came through for me she honestly is my go to I hate that I'm moving back to New York when I'm in town I'm going to see her for my hair needs because I don't trust people a lot usually it's hard for me to trust other people so honestly Megan you're a gem and I hope you know you made me feel beyond happy like I don't mean to be dramatic but it's true you did an amazing job and you're beautiful inside and out and i mean it genuinely I have never loved myself this much I even bought a new outfit and went out with my sister and friends I felt beyond excited. I also repurchased some more products because I'm too lazy and impatient to wait for shipping and if I can avoid having to hunt down the products in NY trust me I would lol!
