What a terrific athletic field!…read more Paul Goode Field is an excellent turf field, sporting two baseball diamonds, a full-size soccer field, a small set of bleachers, and a smaller auxiliary field. Even in the crazy storms over the past few weeks, the fields remained playable. The bathrooms are decent and parking lot is convenient -- if you can get a spot. Parking fills up quick! Just up the hill, you can catch additional bathrooms, fields and the playground at Presidio Wall Playground. While the field is owned by the Presidio Trust, it's operated by nearby University High School. The field seems pretty booked up, at least during weekends and after-school time slots. I can see why!

The staff here are always so energetic and friendly. Great views all around. Good music and vibes. Lots of really good food selection and drinks to choose from. Came here to play pickleball with some friends. There are 6 courts. Most people were playing…read moredoubles. There's limited picnic table space so plan ahead if you're hosting a birthday party. There's an enclosed play structure and a large grass area. There's a public restroom available as well. Be prepared to walk up a big hill on your way back to the California 1 bus if you are taking public transportation.

I was surprised at how many people showed up to come play. I really liked how random people played with one another and nobody gave one another dirty looks for joining their game. It was a very cordial environment and it encouraged me to come play again. I'm not very athletic but playing helped release a lot of steam, so I am thinking of making it a regular hobby. However, there was a woman also going around with a petition to keep the courts free to the public as opposed to paying to reserve it. Highly recommend if you enjoy either pickleball or tennis. The courts are designed for both :)

Found a short cut from the California Academy of Sciences Business Entrance to catch a street car…read more Right across the street is a leisurely walk to Lincoln and 9th. The park is pristine and beautiful. A few folks relaxing on the big green open space and dogs walking their owners on leashes. Pups are not allowed on the field or grassy area. There's a beautiful baseball field in perfect condition. I didn't see a spec of litter. Even the 5 minute walk was a great break for me. I'm not really a hangout in the park guy, but I can see myself on a park bench here relaxing in the future.

On my most recent visit, I noticed that signs stating no dogs allowed were placed along the perimeter of the main grassy expanse. That's fine, because there is still plenty of grass surrounding the main sports area , where you can toss a ball with your well behaved pup. There is a bathroom close by , along with a water fountain for humans and dogs. There are Bleachers to sit and watch games or bring a blanket to sit somewhere on the grass to enjoy the fresh air, sun, and laid back atmosphere. Within a couple of minutes of walking , are museums , the Japanese gardens, and endless amounts of meandering people, due to some event or another going on in GGP. Parking is always a challenge anywhere in the city , so good luck with that. Have fun !

Had a delightful time at the free Comedy Day celebration in Robin Williams Meadow this past…read moreweekend, which I've been to at least six times now. Also did a little rollerblading at the Skatin' Place which happens on select Sundays. It was pretty chill. We even skated along the JFK Promenade to check out the artworks (old and new) and live music happening in various locations. I regularly visit this park because there are so many awesome events that happen here, some that I've attended include music festivals, Symphony in the Park and Bandshell concerts at the Spreckels Temple of Music, the SF International Chocolate Salon, and the Entwined Lighted Forest. There are also plenty of trails I've taken advantage of for running, and lakes and waterfalls I've explored and set up a mat for lounging nearby, like the scenic Blue Heron Lake that offers pedal boat rentals and Lloyd Lake with the Portals of the Past monument, a unique memorial and piece of history. A huge variety of trees and plant life surround you wherever you go, along with waterbirds and other adorable creatures, and lots of grass for picnicking. There are also beautiful gardens galore including the SF Botanical Garden where the annual Flower Piano takes place, the Conservatory of Flowers, the Japanese Tea Garden, and a bunch that are free to visit like the Shakespeare Garden, Queen Wilhelmina Tulip Garden, Dahlia Dell, and Fuchsia Dell. Countless public art displays and projects can be found throughout the park, some of my faves being the Rabbitwoman and Dogman sculptures along the Golden Mile pathway and the sea serpent "Naga and the Captainess" at Rainbow Falls. I've also checked out a plethora of museums and attractions here over the years, such as Cal Academy of Sciences, the paddock bison, and the dutch-style windmills. I never seem to run out of interesting things to see, do, and experience at GGP. There are multiple public restrooms as well as both a pay garage and free street parking winding through the park too.

So much luscious towering trees like eucalyptus groves, as well as enormous massive cypress trees and so much green grass open spaces !!!! Boat rentals are available at the lake!! Food trucks by the covered open stage and surrounded with benches to enjoy live music performances!!! What a day to spend with my grandkids enjoying an open space under the shady trees while eating our food truck eats!!
