Background Attended a Sunday afternoon Mother's Day game against Pittsburgh . Weather was initially cool, cloudy and windy, but turned sunny and warmer just as the game started. Had field level seats near home plate with a view directly down third-base line. Great game. Giants came from two-runs down three separate times including in extra innings. Pirates ultimately walked the plank 7-6. Stadium Wonderful open outfield view of the bay, including the now famous giant Coke bottle, glove, and McCovey Cove. It's a fun stadium to walk around and take in the sighs. Packed house, loud and avid fanbase. I loved the jammin' organist. Very accessible, whether from foot, car, bike (valet service!), train, or yes, ferry or water taxi. I suppose you could even moor your yacht at the nearby marina. Food Sadly, the hot dogs were not good. Regular dog was bland, bacon-wrapped dog was burnt and the spicy dog tasted very much like the canned tamales I hated as a child. So avoid the dogs, there's plenty of other options. Outfield has a popular crab sandwich stand that had a very lengthy line, so get there early. What's Unusual We met a brother of one of the umpires during our stay here, that was cool and unique. Summary One of the best ballparks in the country, a must-see for your SF vacation itinerary.

Inside, there were plenty of food stands and people to help point you towards the right area. The energy was lively!

The park is pristine and beautiful. A few folks relaxing on the big green open space and dogs walking their owners on leashes. Pups are not allowed on the field or grassy area. There's a beautiful baseball field in perfect condition. I didn't see a spec of litter. Even the 5 minute walk was a great break for me. I'm not really a hangout in the park guy, but I can see myself on a park bench here relaxing in the future.

On my most recent visit, I noticed that signs stating no dogs allowed were placed along the perimeter of the main grassy expanse. That's fine, because there is still plenty of grass surrounding the main sports area , where you can toss a ball with your well behaved pup. There is a bathroom close by , along with a water fountain for humans and dogs. There are Bleachers to sit and watch games or bring a blanket to sit somewhere on the grass to enjoy the fresh air, sun, and laid back atmosphere. Within a couple of minutes of walking , are museums , the Japanese gardens, and endless amounts of meandering people, due to some event or another going on in GGP. Parking is always a challenge anywhere in the city , so good luck with that. Have fun !

Imagine a huge rectangle. Make it a park with grass and hills, flowers, trees, some fountains... I…read moredunno, throw in a big lake, some world-class Art and Science museums, and a dome where concerts and shows perform in the Summer. Let's also close down the streets from cars one day a week in the Summer so people can ride their bikes, skate, rollerblade, play and dance in the streets! How about on some warm weekend days we put huge concerts there that fill the grass for as far as the eye can see so people can bring all their friends to enjoy food, drinks, and music together. And the lake... let's make it so people can rent boats, and if they don't or can't row, they can peddle so they, too, can enjoy the waterfall and life on the lake! Let's also have beautiful statues around the park, definitely a Shakespeare Garden, and let's throw in something for garden lovers, like a Botanical Garden (a big one) and a Conservatory of Flowers. For more culture, let's add a Japanese Tea Garden with more lakes and flowers, and even a bridge in the shape of a circle. Let's also make this accessible to everyone, so some days, the museums are free (ie, usually once a month). And some entrance fees are lower for locals. (Check the websites.) Aaaaaand this is Golden Gate Park, and this is my favorite park in California, if not the entire country.

A refreshing experience and a little slice of slowing things down in busy surroundings. We've been hoping to visit Joe DiMaggio for quite some time now, and it was so nice to get there over the holidays. You can find street parking in the surrounding neighborhood ~ we had to do a few laps coming on a weekend afternoon, so keep in mind leaving time to park. We didn't have much time to explore much else than the epic slides (2), swings, and both fun and engaging equipment for kiddos of all ages. That is one thing I've noticed about city parks ~ creative developers that keep equipment innovative while still safe and exciting (even for us adults! Ha) This is def a Playground that was to me, worthy of the drive from the East Bay. Enough room to run, play, and truly enjoy something different than the parks we frequent. This Playground is set near the heart of North Beach which makes for a great afternoon out strolling to well-known eateries and a great foodie adventure. We didn't notice restrooms, so traveled to the public library across the way to also check out the kiddo section. Would definitely return!
