Oracle Park is quite possibly the most beautiful baseball stadium. Resting right on the waterfront,…read morethe classic architecture and views of the Bay create an unbelievable atmosphere for a ballgame. The surrounding neighborhood is a highlight of the experience as well. The outer downtown area is vibrant and filled with great spots to grab a drink or a bite before the first pitch. Getting to the game is remarkably seamless with Caltrain located right across the street, and there is also plenty of parking available nearby if you decide to drive. My food highlights include good food choices overall, with iconic stadium bites that never disappoint, even if the prices are definitely on the spendy side. On a warm, sunny day, you truly cannot beat catching a day baseball game here. If you are looking to watch the best team in the Major League at a world-class venue that perfectly blends classic baseball nostalgia with top-notch views and easy transit, Oracle Park is a must-visit destination.

That changed thanks to the club level experience. We have club seats with friends, and while there's no way we could go to 80 plus games a year, attending a few times a year with friends to enjoy the seats, the fan excitement, to catch up, and enjoy the game, that is really something my spouse looks forward to, and I'm learning to love it. The club level is calmer with different seat views, separate entrance and food and drink options. Recently we were invited to the Audi Dugout Club, next to the Giants dugout and we felt inspired seeing Giants warm up before their at bat. The Giants may not always win, but don't lose hope, loyal fans! We've got a modern stadium that's beautifully situated on the Bay, interesting food and drink options, and gotta root for the home team. Even for a somewhat reluctant fan, the club level atmosphere makes attending an SF game extraordinary.

You probably know the story of how SF Mayor Moscone was killed: shot by former police officer Dan…read moreWhite in the Mayor's office November 27, 1978. But did you know: Dianne Feinstein, then President of the Board of Supervisors, was the person who first discovered Moscone's body. Feinstein was later sworn in as the city's new mayor (White employed the famous 'Twinkie Defense' and was only charged with 'manslaughter')...so it's kind of interesting to wonder where Senator Feinstein would be without that gruesome murder, isn't it? And have you paused to check on some of her votes in Congress, lately? http://feinstein.senate.gov/allvotes.html For someone who supposedly suckles at the liberal teat, her politics kind of stink of Red-State thinking these days... But I digress... This park is the 'activity' and sports park for the Marina and the adjoining areas - there is a sandlot playground for tots, and a big grassy area used for soccer and 4 softball/ baseball 'diamonds' with backstops. There's also a sort of chipping green, a batting 'cage'/ net, and 4 tennis courts. Place is popular after work with various sloshball leagues and whatnot, so plan accordingly. Moscone loses a star for the crowds and for the fact that, as one of the few places in SF where there's a public court that attracts ballers for a semi-regular pick-up run, the facilities aren't really that great...which leads me to the all-important basketball portion of this review... The hoops situation is erratic. There is a court on the east/ Laguna side that (to me) has a nicer surface, but usually has scrub games. The better runs are on the West/ Webster St. side, which is lighted, allowing after-hours ball. Try after work and in the AM on the weekend. There's usually a wait of some sort and can be a lot of smack being talked (standard). There's also a small and rather shabby 'Rec Center' building on Chestnut, which actually has a hoops court inside. But the place is weird: it's almost never open and even if you get in there, one of the rims is like 9'6" and the other is like 11', and it's dimly lit, so basically its useless. Basketball Jonze

The fields here are impeccably landscaped and the grass is glorious. I wanted to just lay down in it for awhile, but I was too busy fielding grounders and whipping some mean pitches. There is plenty of room to share with the fellow ballplayers, dog walkers, and little kids rolling around in the grass. Hooray for parks. And should you decide to play some catch & it's been awhile, watch out the next morning... when I woke up my arm felt like it had died. Lol.

On my most recent visit, I noticed that signs stating no dogs allowed were placed along the perimeter of the main grassy expanse. That's fine, because there is still plenty of grass surrounding the main sports area , where you can toss a ball with your well behaved pup. There is a bathroom close by , along with a water fountain for humans and dogs. There are Bleachers to sit and watch games or bring a blanket to sit somewhere on the grass to enjoy the fresh air, sun, and laid back atmosphere. Within a couple of minutes of walking , are museums , the Japanese gardens, and endless amounts of meandering people, due to some event or another going on in GGP. Parking is always a challenge anywhere in the city , so good luck with that. Have fun !
