Mosaic remains my favorite shopping center in this area. They call it an "urban retail development," which is nothing short of the truth. This retail center has certainly livened up an otherwise fairly dull Dunn Loring/Fairfax area. There are shops to browse, restaurants to dine, a beautiful theater, and lots of happening events.
DINE: From Cava Mezze Grill to Dolcezza, Mosaic has an eclectic offering of food. There's Sweetgreen for salad lovers, Le Pain Quotidien for breads and simple boulangerie fare, Matchbox Vintage Pizza for pizza, Red Apron Butcher for "haute" dogs, Taylor Gourmet for sandwich enthusiasts, and much more. Of course, there's Dolcezza, one of my favorite gelaterias.
SHOP: Of course, there's Anthropologie, Neiman Marcus Last Call Studio, and South Moon Under. But there's also Langford Market for those who like Anthropologie but can't afford too much Anthropologie in their closet, Alex and Ani, Lou Lou, and even a MOM's organic market. There's also a huge Target for your everyday needs. There's also Artisan Confections for chocolate lovers, Ah Love Oil & Vinegar, Swirl & Sip, Paper Source (!!), Capital Teas, and more.
Like I mentioned (and I have a separate review), Angelika is a beautiful, sleek, upscale movie theater. They used to stream episodes of the Walking Dead here on Sunday nights for free (first-come, first-serve), which was pretty neat. You can select your seats when you buy your tickets so no more having to stake out seats.
Mosaic also offers many free events. They have Yoga in the Park and Films in the Park (on the lawn outside of the theater called Strawberry Park), Stories from Strawberry Park (storytelling time in the Angelika lounge), and Mosaic Central Farm Market, to name a few. Another cool thing about Mosaic is that occasionally they'll roll out pianos that say "Play Me."
I think they did a great job of developing Mosaic. Prior to Mosaic, I used to come here only for Four Sisters, Chipotle, or Noodles & Company. Nowadays, there's so much more to see and do. Mosaic has brought in more businesses and people and everytime I come here, it's always busy. Even so, I've never had any issues finding parking. There are two several-stories-high parking garages and some street parking too, all for free. The best thing about Mosaic is that it's new and chic but also affordable. read more
