Food: 4.5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4.5
Cost to worth it rating: 3
Opentableable: no, on their site
Return worthiness: yes !!!
Eve awards: best above and beyond service, best cocktail I've had in a long time (que guayana), best chicken/steak tacos outside of Mexico
Highlights:
- Service: I had made a reservation online and asked if they were able to make the steak item plain for my son. They said they will likely have a different menu when we dine there but they can make a meat plain which sounded good. When we arrived the waitress said they no longer have a steak on the menu but they procured one just for us. That was super amazing and greatly appreciated. Being a mom of a picky eater sometimes it's hard to find items for him -- especially internationally.
- Cocktails: outstanding. Best we've had on the island and along the same quality as some as our fave bars from home
- Que guayabo: rum passionfruit coconut basil was the standout. Such a harmonious blend of a icey shaken drink which was just sweet enough, just tart enough with a full basil leaf on top for freshness.
- Passionfruit basil martini: another fabulous cocktail that sounded simple but was stellar
- Atmosphere: vibrant murals on the walls and lovely vibe of people fully enjoying themselves
- Chicken taco: simple but extra outstanding and the best item of the night. Not sure if it was the flavor of the chicken or the addition of fresh corn, but it was one of the best tacos I've had. 5 stars
- Steak taco: similar to the chicken there was something magical about these.charred strips of carne asada were perfect. 5 stars
- Short rib beef rendang: tender large hunk of beef with the classic Indonesian flavors. 4.5 stars
- Pita chips: super tortilla chip thin provided to us to start our meal.
- Pork belly: Asian flavors with soft rich slices of pork counteracted by fresh plump peas. 4.25 stars
- Chocolate chip cookie: warm and comforting topped with ice cream. My kid gave it 4 stars.
- Truffle risotto: good texture and not over truffled. 3.5 stars
Midlights:
- Fries: have the pure potato flavor down, but could've been crispier on the outside. 3 stars
But further out from the main area: 30 min walk from rift fort and 15 min walk from the Curacao sign.
Lowlights:
- Bao on the bao bun was too thick and chewy
- Can get quite hot in the courtyard
- Didn't have much room to eat it all or have desert -- would've loved to try the churros
Wonderful all around dining experience I would highly recommend. read more
