More out the way spot in town with a variety of delicious food and cocktails in a fun atmosphere for tapas Wednesday. 4.5 stars
Food: 4.25 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
Cost to worth it rating: 3 (most tapas plates 25-40 Guilders)
Opentableable: no, on their site
Return worthiness: yes
Highlights:
- Cocktails: unique and great quality. We tried a few and liked them all. Faves were Tokyo Millionaire with lychee and a fake $100 bill wrapped around the tall glass, rum based Happy Accident, and Dan's Old Fashioned which was in a huge low glass with hints of coffee and orange that made it stand out.
- Chicken and waffles: this dish is hard to get right and this was superb. Soft warm thick waffles with a bit of vanilla sweetness topped with perfectly crunchy breaded and seasoned chicken. 4.5 stars
- Pork belly sliders: 2 sliders with big square chunks of all meaty and not fatty pork belly in hoisin sauce with cabbage on a soft toasted sweet roll. Wonderful. 4.5 stars
- Steak: wonderful quality rib eye meat with chimichurri and smashed potatoes. My picky steak teen gobbled the whole plate down. 4.25 stars
- Brownie: soft and fluffy with the right of medium richness in the chocolate flavor with caramel ice cream and crunchy sweet bits too. 4.25 stars
- Duck confit fries: bowl of thick fries covered in shredded bit smokey duck confit with a poached egg on top. Very tasty though note fries were soft kind vs crispy. 4 stars
- Pork dumplings: super crispy on top and tender inside with burst of supplemental flavor from the chili crisp. 4 stars
- Bread: 3 light focaccia style triangles with olive oil. 4 stars
- Coconut chicken: on the bone with flavor on the skin and on the side. Was fine but enjoyed other dishes more. 3.5 stars
- Atmosphere: vibrant with an impressive mural lining one side of the restaurant's wall and fun art all around.
- Seating: outdoor area, downstairs, bar, and upstairs as well.
- Service: friendly and helpful
Lowlights:
- A walk from the other areas in town going through some less populated streets. From rift fort on the other side of the bridge was about 25 minutes.
