If you're looking for a bargain on gelato, this is not the place to go. Mo's is one of the pricier places in the city, though by 'pricy', I mean €3 for a cone with two large scoops, so it's not too bad.
What is not bad either, is the ice cream. Home-made and smack full of flavour, this is some of the best ice cream you'll find in Rome, and definitely this close to the Vatican, an area that is all too filled with shops and cafés that cater to the ignorant tourist, who is just fine paying through the nose for below-average ice cream (or pay €5 for a cup of Nespresso capsule "espresso", as I witnessed in horror once). But this place, tucked away on the slightly more quiet shopping street of Via Cola di Rienzo, takes their ice cream seriously. I heartily recommend a cone with their chocolate ice cream combined with their lemon sorbet. The acidity of the lemon with the rich sweetness of the chocolate is a perfect mix.
The shop also has a wide selection of luxury chocolates. read more
