Our experience was the exact opposite of that expectation. From the basic planning to the extra arrangements we were dealt with more than fairly and even talked out of what I thought would have been easy (and not superfluous) upsale. In this age of large companies we all have become accustomed to giving up on customer service and personal attention to detail. Mullis Funeral home is one of those rare places that still prides itself on the customer's happiness and value. First, he asked us to follow the hearse in our car, then halfway through the ride, he blew a yellow light and kept going. At the cemetery it was rush, rush, rush. The final blow was, as I collected the other half of the funeral home's payment from my sister, the Mullins guy took my place as pallbearer and carried my mom to her grave without me. The other pallbearers protested, but he ignored them. We were in and out of the cemetery in about 20 minutes. This was as cold and uncaring an experience as I've ever had. My sister left in tears over it. And I was robbed of the experience of carrying my mom to her final resting place, all because the Mullins guy was late for lunch or something. My family will hurt for a long time because of it.

Neil went out of his way to meet with us on a holiday weekend so we could begin to make arrangements for my mother's funeral. He explained all options in detail, including costs, and guided us through every decision we had to make: viewing, funeral service, burial, casket, flowers, pall bearers, obituary, and death certificates. He coordinated very well with the church. What stands out most is how beautiful my mother looked in the casket on the day of her funeral: as we had requested, her hair was colored and styled as she would have liked it, her makeup was flattering, her nails were nicely done, her rosary was well-placed in her hands, and even the guardian angel pin we had left in her nursing home room was pinned to her jacket. Parking and traffic control were handled very well on the day of the funeral. Neil guided us every step of the way so that we could focus on my mother, knowing that he had taken care of every detail.
