Park Cemetery Assn - New plots being filled

Park Cemetery Assn

Park Cemetery has a bad rep because of its past, but it currently is under new management. I've…read morejust recently buried my loved one here, because my family and I liked how private the area feels. I can say that management has been extremely responsive and attentive to all of the families initial worries and concerns. I have even been approached by board members letting me know about changes and addressing my needs. They are currently under a lot of improvements which is comforting, hoping for more good things.

It was a sad day yesterday when my family who traveled across the country and I attempted to visit…read moreour loved ones graves. No one was available to tell us where they are located and the most shocking part was seeing the condition of the cemetery. Horrifying, to say the least. Overgrown grass and weeds, stones sinking, and gouges of dirt or grass missing and hidden by overgrowth enough for your foot to sink in and trip on. I saw a pile of garbage (which may have been articles from gravesites) pushed against a tree-lined open area along a border. Disgusting. Although my relatives didn't believe in cremation, seeing what can happen to a cemetery with extremely poor management makes cremation look more enticing. It is difficult to understand how or why someone could allow this to happen to a cemetery. I thought there were laws and regulations which prevent this sort of thing, perhaps someone in some capacity was not paying close enough attention over the years. We called the main number during the daytime hours and eventually located a new person in charge. We are working on retrieving information according to his recommendations for finding our relatives. He asked for names and dates and even sections if we knew them and he will search through interment books to hopefully locate their plots. He also recommended we look on Ancestry.com to locate information. It is my hope that this new person/committee in-charge will see to it that the problems with this cemetery will be resolved in a timely manner.

Commerce Hill arrived within an hour and was extremely flexible in scheduling the planning the following day. David Dougiello was our mentor during the entire process and did an amazing job of accommodating our requests and taking care of every little detail. We were able to focus our entire energy on the family and helping each other grieve. David and the entire staff went above and beyond to explain everything, offered a no-pressure approach to making decisions that were best for our family, and took care of every little detail leading up to and including the funeral and burial. Thanks to everyone for the support. Please make sure you seek out David and work with him as he is trustworthy, compassionate, and incredibly attentive to detail to help you through your difficult time.

I picked up my sister's ashes today and was met at the door by Chris Gee; he was as pleasant and…read morepersonable as he'd been during my very first meeting with him, and throughout the several times I had to meet or call for assistance. The process of cremation was new to both me and my youngest sister who was with me. Chris called Connecticut Hospice and arranged to transport my sister's body, even before we got to the facility. Once we arrived, he was patient and kind each time he explained something to us. He promptly returned each and every call I made to him. Our situation was unusual in that while my youngest sister and I were doing the planning of our loved one's service and cremation, she had left the insurance to two other relatives. Thus, Chris had to meet (at different times) with each of them, as well. He treated them with the same professionalism and genuine kindness that he showed my sister and me. Once arrangements were worked out; he was even understanding of my attention to every detail, and accommodated even the smallest request, such as making my deceased sister's eyebrows darker. In addition, she died with a terrible protrusion to her lower lip and I was very disturbed by it, but Chris assured me that they would be able to fix it, and they did; her lips looked just like they did when she was alive. And the makeup was perfect (excluding the eyebrows), and natural looking. Even during the service, when my hospitalized daughter asked us to see if she could Zoom into the service, Chris worked to make sure that she could. The only problem was the microphones, and today, when I visited, he had a guy working on that, just as I expected he would. He made a very difficult time so much easier for all four family member who met with him. His professionalism, amiableness, kindness, and understanding are very much appreciative. I recommend this place to all who are looking for someone warm like him, and for a spacious, spotless, and beautiful environment for their loved one's homegoing services, all at a highly reasonable cost.

Heartless funeral director at this location. Insisted on charging more than a mother could afford…read moreto bury her baby. Actually laughed at how much a nonprofit organization was willing to pay to help with the cost and said that the mother would just have to cremate "it". Taking decisions away from a mother who has already just had her world crushed. Just leave dead babies and their loss parents alone. Clearly out just to make a buck without a care. Wrong line of work for that.

They have consistently offered kindness and support throughout the burial process of both parents. The team has been kind, humble and supportive to our family. Morton's is a historic family-owned business, founded by a Tuskegee Airman and his wife, a CT State Representative. Their son, Bob Morton, continues to provide compassionate care and service to all families. I highly recommend them.

So we set a time and was told Mr. Morton's wife would be there, but the barber sat and waited for a half hour and nobody ever showed up. To make matters worse Mr. Morton told me they would line him up and they didn't. Then we wanted to get a belt to someone to complete his look and they even gave us the run around about that, it is sad that you are in the comfort business but you didn't provide any. Not only that but they tried to charge us $100 extra, saying an IT person had to be called to help with dismantling some pictures for the program. Where is your compassion and professionalism. My cousin didn't look anything like himself. They even had the date he died wrong on the program. Stay away from this funeral home I would never use them or recommend them!
