[MY REVIEW IS FOR THE EVERGREEN CEMETERY IN NEW HAVEN VERMONT BUT YELP BEING YELP MERGED IT WITH…read moreTHE EVERGREEN CEMETERY IN NEW HAVEN CONNECTICUT.] Evergreen is a normal lawn-type cemetery. Lanes through it are walkable or driveable. There are rows of neat headstones. The grass is well trimmed. But there's one particularly interesting plot: Timothy Clark Smith. Mister Clark designed and rigged his own tomb in an attempt to prevent his nightmare of an undesirable outcome. He installed a set of stairs underneath a large square capstone beside his burial mound, and is said to have been buried with a bell in his hand and a breathing tube. The most noticeable piece is the horizontal window he installed, six feet above and centered on his face. However, he was buried in 1893 and you can only see a few inches into the six-foot-long tomb as the glass has aged and there is quite a lot of moisture. There are no accounts that his burial was anything other than normal. The cemetery is open 24 hours. Mister Clark's grave is noticeable for the mound around it and the square concrete above it. If it's rained recently, watch your step on the incline. [Review 18492 overall - 91 in Vermont - 2014 of 2022.]

My family's been getting buried here since forever. My family plot has had my sister since 1965, my…read moremom since 2010 and my dad since 2016. We have a flat (grade level) marker. I stop by when I'm on Forest Road, but hadn't been there in a while. I stopped to visit a week or so ago and knew where the marker was, but couldn't find it, as it had been completely grown over. I messaged the cemetery office through their website, and figured it would be placed on some list and dealt with in the distant future. Imagine my surprise when I got a phone call THE FOLLOWING DAY from the cemetery that it had been resolved. The marker had been located, reset and the grass cut back. I did not expect this prompt attention, and am grateful for it.

After several attempts to locate burial plots and name marker stones of my beloved Grandfather, Ralph D'agostino ("Ralphie!") and ("My Little Grammies!"), Antoinette D'Agostino, I felt it was a lost cause and was saddened and upset that I may never find them. When I let Linda O'Neill and Scott Verespie know my dilemma, they not only found exactly where my Grandparents are; they had their cemetery burial ground custodians remove turf to expose the burial plots and name marker stones of my Grandparents! For going above and beyond the call of duty and providing helpful and compassionate customer service to my family; I want to thank the Manager, Scott Verespie, his Administrative Assistant, Linda O'Neill, the Catholic Cemeteries Association and the Archdiocese of Hartford for everything! May God Bless You All! Louis Storo

Recently we had a service for my mother and once again, they went above and beyond to make an incredibly difficult time as easy as possible. My family and I worked with Angie to arrange the service, and she was professional, attentive and empathetic. She provided me with her personal contact information and made herself available at any time to answer questions and help to navigate all of the final directives. She not only provided recommendations for the services, she personalized everything to tribute my mother, down to florist recommendations. Angie, I can not thank you enough for guiding us through such a difficult time and providing us with a perfect experience. I know my mother would have loved everything, and she could be very difficult to please.

They didn't charge for services and wouldn't take a dime over the price of the urn, which means they paid for the paperwork fees themselves, but they treated us like we were spending top $. But the 5 stars are not for the free service, but for being amazingly accommodating and thoughtful; Cliff even offered to bring the remains of my son home, so we wouldn't have to go over there again. They know we don't have any family here, so their fantastic service was not motivated by the prospect of future business.
