First off, I really enjoyed this place. Comforting good food and atmosphere. I got a burger and taco pizza. The burger and fries were a little bland but it hit the spot nicely. The taco pizza was surprisingly good- Expect microwaved shredded cheese on this pizza with tomato, lettuce and beef. It was like eating a pizza with nachos on top. The only thing I can say positive about Morris Tavern is the taxidermy decor is well done and fun to look at. The food was terrible. Friday special fish dinner was over cooked and the side salad was forgotten and served afterwards. Our small and large pizzas came out 20 minutes after the fish dinner. I would like to say the service was due to them being extremely busy, but there were many empty tables and several servers. We will not be going back. read more

Walked in for a late lunch and we had the place to ourselves. The lighting is a bit dim, but I think that was on purpose. Was startlingly to see all the mounted animal heads...deer, elk, birds. This building has been around since the 1940s and the restaurant and bar is a large place for groups and parties. A large bar completed the venue. The food was very good. We had the seafood pizza on thin crust. The Reuben and fries were delicious. The buffalo burger with sweet potato fries was like a hamburger and there was no grease since the meat is lean. Went during a super busy time, Friday at five! We waited about ten minutes for a table didn't mind waiting at all! Got our order taken, we all ordered fish dinners. They brought out our coleslaw/applesauce first, you also got a choice of a salad if you wanted that instead. We waited about 20 Minutes for our food due to how busy it was. Everything was delicious. My only complaint was they never brought us out rolls, every table but ours I had to ask. Then they dropped about five or so of the fresh cut fries on the ground when delivering food. I didn't think I got a lot of the fresh fries to begin with so I wouldn't of mind if they replaced them but they were busy and other than those few things I really enjoyed the food. read more

After years of stopping in from out of town, took my family here for dinner. Had a party of nine and got order in when the kitchen opened. After waitresses bringing the wrong orders, every ten minutes or so, then taking them back to correct them, after an hour of this the last person got his food when everyone else was pretty much done. My husband & I have been long time customers at Morris's, but after this evening's visit, I think we won't be stopping there as often. We had the peel & eat shrimp, which was delicious, and salads. When the check came, I had questioned the waitress in regards to the cost of the salads as not being the price that was listed on the menu. She said there was a $2.00 surcharge on all salads & that they were in the process of getting new menus printed. Sorry, but until the new menu becomes available, keep the prices as printed or at least have the waitstaff mention the "surcharge." I definitely would have NOT paid $7.75 for a side/house salad, that was mostly lettuce. So just a word of advice for Morris's; don't out price your customers. Morris is a hometown favorite. The food is always wonderful and the staff do there best to help you out as much as possible. Although I no longer live in the area, it is always a treat to visit Morris when I come back home! (Also, definitely the best thin crust pizza available!) We usually really love this place when we're visiting family! However, this time, the food was terrible! The fish sandwich was overcooked and like jerky! It was just fish and bun, no extras. WARNING: Their decor "theme" consists of an incredible number of taxidermied hunting trophies. You can find yourself eating your dinner with a stuffed grizzly bear looming over your shoulder. Two stars for edible pizza. Looked at online menu and saw no wings. Called to see if they had wings. Was told only on Thursday. My wife then called and successfully ordered wings! WTF? Went to pick up our order and confirmed that the menu inside the restaurant has way more items than the online menu. Staff couldn't explain why this is the case. They also had no takeout menus available...which they thought was funny. This place has spent a fortune in taxidermy so this doesn't make sense. After waiting 55 minutes our pizza and fries arrived but not my Burger. When I questioned the waitress she said she would check. When she came back she stated they were behind. I then questioned why the people that came in after us all had their food. I asked for the manager. I explained it to her and she said she had no idea why. SLOW AND INCAPABLE. They were barely busy and we're inca0able of seating us (party of 4) at a table with 5 seats becuase a party of five "MAY OR MAY NOT" show up. Way to make paying customers wait for fantasy ones!! Then they brought out fries without bringing any plates and never brought us our water. Another hometown favorite for me. I have been going there for years, since I was in high school actually. The restaurant is on one side, with a bar on the other. And yes, it is a bit of a low key, redneck place. There are stuffed deer and other critters all around, which were hunted by the owners and their family members. The food is really tasty... I am a big fan of all the fried finger snacks (like the cheese balls and the jalapeno poppers) and the sandwiches. I think the price is very reasonable; even on the less expensive side compared to other places I have been to. The staff is very nice, and the food has always been hot. Sometimes it takes a little while to get your food, but if you are not in a hurry, its worth the little wait. This mostly happens when they are busy. I'll warn you... it gets PACKED after Forest Hills High school football games! But it is a really great place to meet up with old friends and have a few drinks. read more

I live in the area and i typically come here to enjoy some so-so pizza with my family after sporting events and what not. We ordered all waters & two appetizers at first & then ordered our meal. We got one right appetizer and one wrong one still no waters. We then got an order of 6 wings and a salad, without silverware, and STILL no water. We finally asked for our drinks and she brought them out and did not give us any straws. As a waitress myself I know how important it is to make customers feel like they are being treated like royalty. Not to feel like you have to pull teeth and do everything yourself when you could have just cooked food yourself. The prices and atmosphere are not worth the below mediocre service. read more

Slow inattentive service for starters which is a dealbreaker for me. Food is typical bar style. Nothing really stands out here. The pizza sauce tastes like something from Chef Boyardee. Great food! This is the first place in Johnstown that we enjoyed. Well I am not sure if Morris's Tavern is right in Johnstown, but it is close. I would go there again! Friday the 13th,about 4:30 PM, entered Morris's dining room. There were about 4 people at 2 tables. We were asked how many in party, we said 2. We were ushered into the bar, with high tables and high chairs, we went for diner, to relax, not to sit in the bar, I don't even drink, I said I can't sit on them. We are in our late 60's and 70's. The host would not sit us anywhere else. There were empty tables on the dining room side, but we were told we would have to wait for a small table to open up, I guess wait in the bar. We left, and will never go back again, and I will inform everyone I see how we were treated. The hostess should be taught it is better to give up a 4 person table rather than loose business for the owner. We ate at Morris's a lot. We found fish on Main St. Ebensburg, just as good, and had a relaxing diner. read more

Was visiting from out of town for Mother's Day weekend. My wife's family lives close by and enjoys patronizing Morris'. Naturally we made arrangements to eat here on Saturday evening. Upon arriving the parking lot was overflowing, which is a good sign for a restaurant. We entered and there weren't many waiting for tables. Evidently there was some sort of large party upstairs. A hostess came over and greeted us and was very accomodating. We were seated as a party of 6 rather quickly. Unfortunately this is where things go bad! The hostess did provide us menus, so we sat there looking at theses menus for literally 20 minutes. A party of 6 was then simply ignored. Not any courtesy message, not even any sort of acknowledgement from staff. We noticed a few others being seated and waited on ratherly quickly. So I will have to assume that we were simply forgot about. Well you can guess what happens next, we proceed to stand up and exit taking OUR money with us to another restaurant. This place does have a reputation for slow service, but this topped any of my experiences. It will be a LONG time till I will be back. So disappointing from a family owned business! S-l-o-w S-e-r-v-i-c-e I took my boyfriend to Morris's to show him the wildlife and get some supper. He really liked it. We sat in the bar area at a table. The waitress came over, took our drink orders, came back and said 'I'll be back as soon as I can'. As soon as I heard that, I knew we'd be waiting a while. She came back, took our orders - we ordered a small pizza and a cheeseburger. An hour later, we finally got the pizza, not the cheeseburger. My boyfriend stopped the bartender, and told him to please find out where my cheeseburger was. The waitress came back out and finally brought my cheeseburger. She stopped back and asked if everything was all right - I said, now it is. She said they have a big party upstairs who decided to add 20 people on. I'm sorry, but that's not our fault - I told her we were ready to pay for our drinks and leave. Her answer? A lot of people do. Huh? What kind of answer is that? I'm so disappointed. Service used to be stellar. Tonight we waited 45 minutes for our wings, which came out COLD, not cool COLD. They were remade and after 15 more minutes came out hot. Our sever took our order, delivered cold food and was not seen again, well at least not until it was time to deliver the check. We had to flag down the hostess to return the cold wings. Great food! Portions are more than generous. My husband & I had the Friday fish special with iced tea to drink & our bill was under $20! Great value. The fish was nicely breaded, not too thick; the French fried were crisp but not greasy, the cole slaw was good, rolls were very good. The other items on the menu were decently priced. We've eaten there before, had cheese steaks that were great, too. The only thing that ruined our meal this time were 2 bratty boys whose parents ignored them.
