When we got to town we went straight to Verde and, even though they were closing in an hour, they jumped on it and created a beautiful funeral spray for us. Since it was so late, and the viewing was in a Church, they could not promise delivery that evening or the next morning in time, so they helped us with instructions how to keep it fresh overnight to bring it with us tomorrow. They stayed late so they could help us - we loaded it into our car and we will bring it ourselves. Such a kind gesture in this time of grief- above and beyond!!

I haven't seen the flowers yet, but I'll explain why I'm giving this shop 5 stars off the bat…read more I'm in California, and my colleague lost a parent the night before. I was working with another florist that failed to find a local (East Falmouth) florist who could get an arrangement together. I cancelled that order and called around at 3:50ish eastern time on a Friday night looking for a local florist that could deliver on super short notice and within budget (good luck to me, right?!). That is where Hira at Verde Floral Design came in and saved the day. She couldn't accommodate a delivery for same day as I was just calling 50 minutes before her shop closed, but she was lovely and willing to work with an Uber Courier to take the flowers she prepared. On the phone, she was super professional and courteous, and very accommodating. I would never ask a florist to arrange for sympathy flowers on super short notice, but I had no choice and am quite happy with the lightening fast turnaround. What a save! MVP! MVP! I am sure the flowers will be gorgeous and the family will be appreciative of the love from my colleague's work family back in the Bay Area of California. If you are in a tight spot, I highly recommend Hira and her team at the Verde Floral Design shop in Mashpee. She will take care of you.

By far the best nursery on island. Most of the plants are grown here from seed--so they grow on…read moreisland and are ready for planting. Unique to Heather Gardens is the sense of locale (and therefore local); you can buy small and grow, annuals, perennials, herbs and vegetables. For residents or long-time summer residents this is really helpful to buy to grow not just to beautify for today. this results in much better pricing than other nurseries on island but yes some extra work. We have purchased larger plants, some from off-island here (like our favorite roses and hydrangeas) and they have been much more suited to this climate than those we purchased at other nurseries. ESPECIALLY the hydrangeas. Usually they are in root balls not those ubiquitous blue plastic containers, so they adapt to the transplanting better and mature quickly. It is easy to load your car, with both plants and the manure/compost/mulch options. They will help if you ask--but generally they leave you alone to enjoy unless you ask for help. We transferred our garden purchases to Heather Gardens several years ago and have been able to have many more plants (we are willing to purchase when they are small) and more interesting plants / less common plants then the standard gardens on island. This is a nursery for gardeners--if you are looking for garden decor or instant beautification it has some options--but that is not the focus.

I emailed them a pic from their own Instagram page asking for a floral arrangement to be similar in color and style. I was charged, but then heard nothing so I called again. I even showed them a pic AND emailed them what I wanted. I was very disappointed. So I emailed them explaining that I was disappointed and they NEVER even replied! I always love giving referrals but I will never recommend them or use them again.
