This is the only negative company review I have ever written but I was encouraged by friends to do so as it may help to save someone else the issues I had.
This summer I adopted a dog that got sick not too long after we got him. I brought him for diagnosis. I was told we'd have to do testing. One test alone was going to be over $200 and was for just one specific thing. When I suggested maybe waiting to get the results of the blood work first, before doing the $200 test, I was told upbruptly by a rude tech that I should spend the money to get the test (that test came back negative, btw). They also sat me down and said they didn't want any surprises so needed to tell me that my bill for the day would be $620 if I got the tests. I agreed. We were there for a while, they gave my dog an i.v. and took the blood work. When I went to check out and pay the bill was over $800. I said that they told me the bill would be $620 and the same rude tech said no, that was only for the tests. The i.v. and medicine was extra. Well, that was NOT how they explained it earlier (and I would DEFINITELY have waited on the $200 test) but I paid the bill and left without a hassle.
When the results came back my dog had a very bad illness, that was highly contagious, so they said I would need to come in at the end of the day each time for blood, i.v., etc as they had to sterilize the room afterward. So I did, we came a couple of more times for i.v. fluids as he was very dehydrated.
I asked if I could give i.v. at home as it was very expensive to come in for this. They discouraged it, said it wouldn't be as good (cause it was sub-q) but I could try. So, on a Friday I went in, got him an i.v. and said I'd be back Monday but give fluids myself over the weekend. They said fine.
I called first thing Monday morning to find out what time I should come in. A very rude tech (who had seen my dog) named Diana Lower said they were full and could not see him until Wed evening. I told her I couldn't wait that long, he needed fluids and they'd said on Friday I could come Monday. She said "sorry, we are booked and what do you want us to do, stay an extra half hour late?!" I said "yes, if that's what it takes." She said "look, you have a very sick dog and it's not my fault." So, she knows my dog is very sick, won't get us in (after they said they would) and are acting this way? And after the huge amount of money I'd been spending with them (I think close to $1500)? I was super upset. My dog needed help and they would not give it.
I went in to get more bags of fluids as I would now have to wait until Wednesday to get in and get the good i.v into the vein. When I went to pick up the fluids, I asked to speak to Diana (as a side, no one was there but me and the people that worked at the vet- no customers) and I told her that she was rude and tasetless in the things she'd said. She was very pompous and arrogant and offensive in return. The doctor (Dr Audrey) was there but did not come out to say anything, which also surprised me.
By the time I got home I had a message from the vet, Dr. Audrey, saying they would not see my dog anymore. She said he was too sick and I would need to go to Madison vet school. Funny (not really) that this had not been mentioned before I went in and spoke with Diana. They said they would not even see us on Wednesday. I told them my dog desperately needed fluids and to please not take this out on my dog b/c I had told someone they were rude. They still refused
My dog died the next night, Tuesday night.
I never had any call from them asking about my dog, etc.
I had left a message to have the owner call me when she returned from vacation. I never received any call. read more
