I wanted dessert. No, needed it. At 3 pm. Just having one of those days. So I get into Tahlequah's nice little downtown and figure there must be a place. First one I tried? Nope, not actual ice cream. Second one? Yes, actual bakery. Morgan's has been a town mainstay for generations, classic feel inside and out, right in the middle of downtown, local regulars entering and leaving while I'm looking around. Personal service, patient and friendly. That kind of great place. Some of the items sold out earlier in the day so I selected a few that caught my eye. * Orange cranberry muffin: Very fruit. Such delicious. Wow. * Apricot Danish: Very fruit. Such... you get the idea. 2 for 2 in wonderful goods. * Chocolate donut: I should have confirmed. It's not chocolate inside. I wish there was an attempt to offer new items to keep the business fresh and enterprising. It just feels like the complacency found in many eateries through Tahlequah. My overall experience was great. Small towns are always nice to go visit, plus it was the only one in town. They were really friendly. My coworker and I went to visit before going to visit other and wanted to pop in and grab them a treat. Some of the items looked a little old and unappetizing. While others seemed to fair better. The most appetizing thing were their petite four cakes. They were so cute and looked freshly made. They had multiple counters to select items from but some were not as full as others. We were recommended that tiger cookies were the best after we had made are purchase. So if you happen to go, get the tiger cookies. read more

So disappointed, especially since it was recommended to us. Everything was mediocre and bland at best. We got maple long john's, cannelloni, koulaches, petitefor, and one large sugar cookie. Meh at best on any of them. Cannelloni did not have nice crispy crust with a nice rich filling. They tasted not even as good as Frozen ones from CostCo. Petitfor had no almond at all. Oh and the server was seriously mopey. No humor, unhappy face. Tried to engage her but nope. So when we got home and these things taken into consideration, my opinion is skip this place. read more

I saw other reviews saying the owner needs to invest in a makeover and I completely agree!!!! When we walked in and it smelt like old town bakery minus the bakery smell, well... it sure tasted like the store smelt in the cookies. We ordered a fudge and Oreo brownie and a gingerbread cookie and a colored rainbow cookie. It was about $7 and some change for all four items so that was a plus! The gingerbread cookie was AMAZING. BUT the Oreo and fudge brownie both had nuts in them which was disappointing since the did not advertise that and I mean...who puts nuts in an "Oreo" flavored bakery item? The colored sugar cookie with the frosted rainbow on it was the worst cookie I have ever tasted. We both literally spit it out. Go for the chocolate. Morgan's bakery is known for their chocolate, specifically, the chocolate glaze that is on their donuts. I am not kidding, I have heard that the recipe is a big secret that only some of the employees get to know. Are you intrigued yet? You should be. We gave Morgan's one more try after being here about 2 years ago. I think the best cookie there is probably the Gingerbread and the turtle cookies. I must say the cakes do not look that intricate. I want to recommend to the owner that he needs to do a major makeover of this Bakery it is way outdated number one it smells like an old old Grandma's house and the carpet needs to be ripped up and they need to take off the vinyl covers of the tables need to paint their chairs and do something to clean that place up the ceiling is horrible and a carpet is horrible and it does smell old old old old there is nothing that's curbside appealing to this place outside or inside it's just been there a long time I used to like it back in the 70s and I'm so sad that is gone downhill and it's just maintaining a mediocre status. read more

The baked goods are good. They aren't the absolute best, but better than the chain donut stores. What sets this place apart though, are the paninis. They have the most awesome paninis, so be sure to stop by for lunch. read more

Divine sachertorte and better-than-most creme horns made this a four star stop for my husband and me! Prices were pretty standard, not ultra low, but the quality of the baked goods make it well worth your dime! My only issue was they were in the process of closing and seemed a little annoyed with us, and despite three people working they all kind of shrugged about the price of one item we ordered like they were taking a random stab at what prices were. Odd. We enjoyed our treat in the nearby park, only to find that the bakery was still open about twenty minutes later. That was a little annoying to me as I would have stayed and drank a cup of coffee and they could have made a few more bucks in the process. Ah well. I'd definitely come back anyway! Morgans bakery is an institution! Yes it maybe a little more expensive than one of those chain bakery which because of the low quality and substandard ingrediance can charge less. Morgan's bakery is privately own which is why I love it and the taste is why my family has loved it for almost 60 years. The cookies are the bomb ! The chocolate donuts are the bomb also.
