Stopped by Paul's the Saturday before Easter. There was a cake in the case and the lovely girl said it's lemon with a raspberry filling and a cream cheese icing. Perfect to bring over to family for our holiday dinner... ?? If there is a Paul you are cutting too many corners dear. The lemon cake had no lemon zest or juice that we could tell. The raspberry filling tasted fake like the cake and we didn't taste any cream cheese in the icing. We all got a minty flavor like toothpaste minty in the filling, no raspberry flavor, so artificial. My opinion is possibly bias, Paul's is a childhood nostalgia that I can tell it's their amazing hand made icing and baking as I catch a whiff of it in my vicinity. The pricing is very fair, competing like large corporate company bakers such as harps, and Walmart. I usually always get a welcome when entering, and they are always kind enough to answer questions. Simple decor, but always clean. I am excited that I can give this nostalgia to my child as they grow and I hope they fall in love with the confections as I did. Nothing beats Paul's! read more

Who doesn't love a good bakery? While passing through town, I decided to stop because I was in a small town and any bakery in a small town has to be good. Am I right? As far as a bakery goes, this was a so-so to me. The baked good offerings and taste compared to a supermarket's bakery. Nothing really that artisan, but still had a charm to it. It was before noon when I stopped, so a selection of doughnuts was on display and for sale. The staff was young and friendly. They had a few tables to eat indoors. I opted to grab some doughnuts and cookies to go. All of the cookies weren't my favorite or stood out to me. The star of the show was the apple fritter. Most apple fritters are shaped as hearty discs. This one was more or less shaped like a gnarly softball. All the edges were crisp that once bit into, lead to a fluffy, apple cinnamon chew. I have been a customer of Paul's for over 45 years. This was, without a doubt, the worst cake I've ever had. The "beautiful roses" on top were not edible -- they were so hard I nearly broke a tooth. I actually rolled one on the counter, and it sounded like dice hitting the surface. The cake itself tasted old and oddly salty. I ordered half chocolate and half white, but it only had a thin strip of chocolate in the center -- maybe three inches total. Nothing about this cake was as described or worth what I paid. read more

The cinnamon roll was one of the best I've had! I love apple fritters but this one was just okay. It had a very different texture to it, sponge. The apple turnover well l only had a corner but liked it but my husband thought the filling tasted like it came from a can. read more

I can't say good enough things about this bakery. I am new to the area and had no idea which bakery to choose for my gender reveal cake. I had a big task, have a custom cake be made for Valentine's Day... with 2 days notice. I actually had called and visited all the other bakeries in the fort smith area and all said there was no way they could do it in that amount of time. This must have been fate cause Paul's bakery was my last call and I'm soooo glad all the other bakeries turned me down. Paul's bakery made the most GORGEOUS cake that far exceeded my expectations. Not to mention, was sooooo good. I even asked for a custom filling that wasn't on their list and they happily made it. I appreciate their kindness and willingness to make my gender reveal possible. When I went in to order the cake, all the staff was very sweet and welcoming. I also got sucked into their variety of cookies, cupcakes, and donuts. I couldn't leave with some extra goodies. Expensive #13+ for 2 coffees (no refills) and 2 donuts. Coffee was awful, we had to buy milk for it because they only had chemical creamers. The apple fritter lacked apples - not cool at these prices. read more

Paul's Bakery is the best bakery in Northwest Arkansas. There are no frills in this place. It's an older building but the goods are consistently amazing. The chocolate dots are always soft. My mom and dad's favorites are the glazed sugar cookies. I love the peanut butter dots and the colorful tops on the ice cream cone cookies! read more

I fell in love with Paul's Bakery when I lived in Van Buren for a couple years. Fast service. Fantastic desserts! They cannot be beat from ft smith to Nwa for their birthday cakes. Just can't. I've tried them all. Ricks in Fayetteville and Shelby Lynn's in Springdale and Paul's bakery has them beat no problem. Now when we are going through the Ft smith area I stop here for a treat to take with me :) read more

A VB staple, I have been going to the Bakery for over 45 years. As a kid I lived two blocks away and would make the walk to buy candy weekly. Saturday I was on a Harley ride out of Texas so I decided to stop buy and have breakfast, it was as awesome as I remember it to be, the maple bar was warm and soft and the cherry turnover as light and buttery. The store was packed with locals and the Lennons were busy in the back baking a family affair. If you are in the area I would recommend stopping and enjoying the freshness that is Paul's Bakery. read more
