So glad we tried this Mexican restaurant. The salsa bar was soooo good. There are lots of choices for all different preferences. Our favorite was the pico de gallo with mango!! The inside is wood panel with lots of Mexican art and some historical reference photos. We split the chicken fajitas. The server split it into two separate dishes for us, lots of mixed peppers and onions with chicken breast. It comes with rice and beans as well as tortillas on the side but no avocado, sour cream, greens. read more

I ordered carry out. The chicken quesatinga tacos were amazing. Packed with flavor and the chicken was super tender. I do wish the dipping jus had a little more spice to it but it was great nonetheless. The guacamole and homemade salsas were also very good. I liked the salsa verde the best. I was a little disappointed in the corn dip, it was kind of watery and bland. I probably wouldn't order it again. As far as the staff and the inside, it's decorated beautifully and looks super cozy. The cashier was great in helping me coordinate a pickup time as I placed it early and wanted to come back later to get it. They had broken down their drink station at that time so I didn't get to try the horchata but I will next time. read more

Came to lunch here today around 2pm and restaurant was empty so figured would be quick in and out. We sat down and while we watched 2 people come in and pick up their take out orders and leave we never once were acknowledged by the young lady working. We went to Moreno's this evening while at the car show. First time and what a surprise. Great tradional food, home recipes good drinks, love the salsa bar. But I really rate places on service and staff. Met the owners and family staff, reminds me of what restaurants use to be like. I will definitely be back and will expand my menu experience. Wonderful family I know they were busy but they should use their nice personality ( don't be shy) just a we bit more because it's goes a long way. Happy for this new addition to downtown lemont. There is a salsa bar, like you would find in Arizona, or at Standard Market. Small menu, but has the right options, that are done well. The family that operates this restaurant are very pleasant & kind. You will feel comfortable, as if you were at home, but with service and no cooking/cleaning on your part. I hope this place stays. We don't have good Mexican food in town if they don't. Their guacamole is a good balance if creamy and chunky with good flavor. The portions seemed large for my mother and I. We only ordered the guacamole and two entrees. Have about two meals each left for the both of us. No complaints here. You can leave feeling satisfied. read more

Saturday 1/13/23 Today, my wife and I tried Moreno's for lunch. Upon walking in we were delighted by the rich, warm decor. We were seated at a booth and was greeted by the friendliest waitress named Claudia. Claudia gave us a basket of warmed chips and explained to us. We could help ourselves to the salsa bar which everything was homemade in house. For drinks, we ordered a mango margarita and a strawberry margarita and boy I tell you they were made to perfection. For lunch, my wife ordered a steak taco and a El Pastor taco, and for myself I had the Moreno's special. From the margaritas the salsa bar to our meals everything was absolutely wonderful. Moreno's is now one of our top two favorite Mexican restaurants, After coming back from the salsa bar, I had the opportunity to talk to the owner Eric who is also the chef, after talking to Eric for just a few moments, I knew instantly he was a chef, not just a cook that's why everything tasted so amazing, so if you are looking for a great place for a date or just for some good food and great service, I would highly recommend Moreno's The Food Dude read more

i really wanted to like this place but was disappointed in their food. i got an al pastor burrito and it was honestly gross. dripping in grease and seriously lacking in flavor. i can appreciate a delicious, greasy al pastor burrito, but the grease in this just had no flavor. the meat was chewy and gristly. the rice was dry and bland. the refried beans were bland. the chips were good and the salsa bar was a good idea in theory, but the little bowls for the salsa are too small to properly dunk a chip into, which makes it hard to actually eat the chips and salsa. they also don't have a liquor license yet. read more

I was really excited to try out a new Mexican restaurant.I'll start with something positive-The al pastor taco was really flavorful, and the tortillas were cooked nicely. I tried the horchata, and it was very watered down and didn't have that cinnamon flavor,it really just tasted flavorless. The steak taco was o.k. the meat was a decent quality of meat,but it had no flavor..I guess this is where that salsa bar would really help,but I wanted to taste the food by itself first to see if it's marinated or seasoned the way that I like it,I didn't taste any type of citrus marinade in the steak. Now,the chicken tinga taco is what really sealed the deal towards 1 star. The chicken was somehow sweet... I thought that it was my imagination until I let someone else taste it. I tried to fix it by adding 1 of their hot salsas,but that sweet taste somehow ruined the whole taco,I saw onions in the chicken taco mix,but that sweetness wasn't from onions,so if they added sugar they should have added some type of heat for balance while cooking the meat. The tacos were very light with the meat,at some places you can make 2 meals with 3 tacos,this isn't that place. If the tacos were outstanding,I wouldn't mind. My advice is to try your tacos before you add salsa because sauces can mask the real flavor or lack of flavor. If I'm around, I'd try the al pastor again,but I can't go out of my way for 1 type of decent taco,bad horchata,and overpriced canned and bottled drinks. read more

I love that this is a family run business and that the grandma comes in every day to make all the salsas fresh. All though, when me and my friend had came in around 8:50pm, we had ordered 3 tacos and guac. We unfortunately had to wait about 15-20 minutes for our food and yet they still messed up our order (not by much but considering the fact im a picky eater this was upsetting for me.) It was not busy, nobody was there. This is still a great restaurant, i love the decor and the ambiance of the whole place. Recommend but maybe not at a late time :) read more

We tried a chorizo taco, quesatinga dinner, chips and guacamole and a selection of their delicious salsas. Ordered to-go on a Sunday and brought the meal over to Pollyanna to enjoy. Really hit the spot and will be returning for food when we are drinking at our favorite brewery. read more

Wanted to love this place because the Mexican food options in town are limited. We went with a large group and made a reservation ahead of time. However, they weren't prepared and the service was horrible. Only one waitress for the whole restaurant and had to ask multiple times for things like water. The salsa bar would have been ok but it was like they were rationing chips so we couldn't even get a fair share at trying the variety. Additionally, I ordered steak fajitas and the meat and tortillas were dripping in grease. Others ordered burritos and said majority of the inside was overfilled with cheese or too much tortilla and limited stuffing or dried out meat. Lastly, they already add 22% gratuity and an extra credit card fee to the check. All around not a good experience ... will not be going back, so disappointed. read more
