Our 'local' restaurant which also serves as a wine bar for residents of Matfield. A converted pub previously known as Standings Cross (on the Matfield/Brenchley cross-roads).
Excellent wine list - we leave the choice to 'mine host' - and a small-ish menu, with the selection dictated by the chef and whatever he's picked up at the market that morning. Prices are OK - but not gastro-pub cheap - this is definitley more of a restaurant with a small bar for locals to use. Waiting staff are usually family and friends (local girls mainly, from the girls schools). Cuisine leans toward British with European influences. Great fun in lovely surroundings in one of Kent's most beautiful villages. (Go for Sunday lunch then sit by the pond on the green and watch the local cricket team in action.) read more
