I had originally bookmarked the Sandwich Bar as a place to try for lunch when visiting Canterbury,…read morebut when we walked into that restaurant, the sitting space inside was just a row of bar stools against the window and a bench outside. Apart from the lack of seats, also realized when we got there that we didn't really feel like a sandwich and since we were hungry, just decided to go next door to the Burger Bros, and am very glad we did so! I really like the vibe of this place, and it's mixed identity. So it's a wine bar called Alberrys and then the back/ kitchen is the Burger Bros restaurant space. They were playing cool laid back 70s tunes and I liked the juxtaposition of music with the Americana style menu. Plus they have free wifi and that is an excellent bonus - just ask the server for the password. I ordered a vegetarian slider and a cider and my other diner got a Cajun burger and a mango/orange fruit juice and we split the fries, which were totally fantastic and not at all greasy and nor did they gave that stale oil taste. My veggie slider arrived on a wooden chopping board (cool way to serve the food) and was overflowing with mushroom and roasted red peppers and Haloumi cheese (you could choose between Haloumi or blue cheese and I went with the servers suggestion). I also liked the crunchiness of the fried onion ring and eggplant so the burger's fillings came together in a beautiful medley of fresh and juicy flavours. If there is one thing I would have preferred for next time is that the burger be cut into two, as this would have made it easier to pick up and eat. Cost for two drinks, two burgers and a shared bucket of fries was £25 (rounded down), so not too bad. Oh the ladies loo was a funny experience as I couldn't find toilet paper until I looked up! The roll is placed super awkwardly and I was stretching my hand to get some paper.

Small bar/club over two floors. Really tiny and cramped inside, especially downstairs so not very…read morenice when it's busy! Different atmosphere though and they do great jugs of cocktails - look out for happy hour!

Another wonderful spot that friend's recommended. As they've been before and it's a local spot for…read morethem. When we walked it, it was quite busy as a huge party was occupying a table across from us. A few other guest always dining as well. Not a big place but still very intimate and quite nice. Bar available but not sure if it's full bar. We did have a couple bottles of wine with dinner. Menu, straight to the point. Tapas and more tapas. As there was couple of us, we all chose three dishes to share. Each all looked amazing. The prawns, chorizo, mussels, meatballs, hummus, sun dried tomatoes salad, mushrooms, fried halloumi sticks, the skewers, pate, avocado toast, and croquettes. Everything was really good apart from it being slightly different from the states. The only downside, the skewer were a bit dry but presented beautifully. Everything was quite tasty and plenty to share for what we've ordered. Mussels were quite tasty in the sauce, chorizo was really good. Pate was more of sliced meat versus a spread. Service was great, staff was really friendly and chatty which was great. They ended the night for us with a little cocktail shot which was quite nice. Overall, amazing service, food was great, atmosphere was nice and friendly. Will definitely return.

First chance to check out this relatively new local venue in…read moremy local village and it was a huge hit. Small, friendly, a nice location just off the main shopping area, reasonably priced and generous portions. The food was delicious and worth venturing over for whether you are local or not! We had crisp halloumi, spiced aubergine with minced lamb, chilli peppered squid, pork belly and chips, a lovely crisp Pinot Grigio (my friend's a white drinker) and a couple of liqueur coffees. All this for £30 a head including a tip. The staff were efficient, attentive and charming. Young and energised, I loved the way all the front of house staff presented one table with a birthday dessert and sang with evident delight to the guest. We were made to feel very welcome despite booking a late table and the arrival of a large party of blokes who'd evidently been out for a Christmas get together added to the very European feel of this little gem. We'll be back

I came here with my Mum once and absolutely loved it, and it's a regular lunch spot for my Mum and Grandma. It feels really authentic and it's overall such a pretty restaurant. I would definitely recommend here, however I do remember it being quite tightly packed so it may not be idealistic for wheelchair users. Other than this, it's a very lovely place with a great menu and not overpriced.

Sevenoaks is a small town with oh-so-many coffee and lunch places. I was amazed when this opened as…read moreit offers sandwiches, coffees, light lunches and drinks - just like SO many other places just feet away. Even Strada, a perfectly respectable joint, is only some 20 yards distant and their cooked lunch menu is so similar that one wonders at the sheer nerve of the Soprano people!!! Anyway, their coffee was rounded, not bitter, and their lunch and dessert pleasant (gnocchi with Gorgonzola & walnuts, lemon cake). The prices were reasonable. The staff a little dreamy & the decor is 'unpretentious Italian restaurant'. It's been very well supported initially. Watch this space because, unbelievably, another Italian deli place has opened in the last fortnight down the road: Valentino's. Sevenoaks, haven of the Middle Classes, is now surely the Little Italy of Kent!!! I'll be writing to The Telegraph..........
