We wanted to support our local jewelers but we've had two bad experiences here…read more First, my wedding ring had grown a little too tight so I took it to get resized. They ended up charging $800 and over a month to stretch it out so big that the white gold band became super super thin and the ring flew off my finger. It was comically too big. As soon as they saw it on my finger they agreed to take it back down several sizes. But even with the attempt to fix their mistake the ring still swings around on my finger and the band remains tiny compared to what to once was. I knew the band would thin a bit but since they mistakenly doubled the amount it needed to be stretched I lost a lot of my wedding rings integrity due to that mistake. Even with that, when my husband lost his wedding ring we went back here to find a replacement. Big mistake. After looking at a bunch of rings in the store we didn't find anything in the style he likes that was also white gold. It was important to him to have white gold both to match my ring and also he explained to them he didn't like the various yellow shades of gold against his darker skin tone. The store suggested a more expensive option on special order. We paid up front. The ring came in over a month later and I was out of town for work during that time. My husband picked up the ring and was immediately disappointed but he didn't tell me about it. It was yellow gold. Had I been there I would have refused it, but he did not feel comfortable doing that so he took it home and by the time I came back from my trip, he'd already been wearing it and feeling like he could not return it. Now we have two wedding rings that do not match and that both of us are disappointed about all because of mistakes by the store. And that just makes me sad.

I went to this place to get a new battery put in my Movado watch. This was the first time my watch…read morehas ever gotten serviced. The lady that helped me told me that the person that would service the watch was not in and would it would take a couple of days. A few days later they call me and tell me that the watch isn't working with the new battery. I thought it was weird that it wasn't working since it was before the battery dies. So I took it to the Swap o Rama flea market and the gentleman there opened the watch and told me that they bent a piece that holds the battery in place. He said instead of removing the piece probably by removing the screws they tried to pry it out and in turn scratching the pieces and bending the piece. So he ended up ordering the replacement parts and fixed it for me. I wouldn't recommend this place. If you do happen to do business here be very careful because if they are doing this type of work, I can imagine where else they're cutting corners or deceiving customers. Whether it's with watches or gold jewelry that they sell or buy. I mean, I got my watch fixed at a flea market for God sakes.

Despite not offering it as a service, Angie helped me laser cut and set a picture of him into the heart-shaped locket, only charging me a small fee. I really appreciated her generosity and knew I would return to her shop. About a year ago, I decided it was time to purchase a new gold chain for a pair of cloisonné pendants that belonged to my grandmother. Angie makes her own chains, and she was so patient while I looked at the various patterns and tried on different lengths. I originally planned on buying a single chain to share, but after reviewing my options I decided to purchase two of different pattern and length. The cloisonnés vary in color, shape, and size, and the chains we chose reflected their differences. Angie even added my grandmother's birth stone (peridot) to the clasp of each one! To use her words, these necklaces are now truly "heirloom quality" that I hope to pass down to my future children. Finally, this past fall. My fiancé worked with Angie to create a custom engagement ring. It has the Art Deco style that I love, and it's absolutely perfect. The ring is everything I wanted, and I have received so many compliments. The fact that Angie designed it makes it all the more special to me. Angie is kind, patient, and honest - every quality you would want in a jeweler. Her cozy little shop is welcoming, and everything is artfully arranged. You can feel Angie's passion in her craftsmanship, dedication to quality, and ability to make any project - from a gold chain to an engagement ring - incredibly unique and personal. I was curious and I am attracted by sparkly things, so I stopped in with my little one to have a look around. The employee was welcoming and let me wander to appreciate all the pieces on display. There was an interesting sapphire and diamond ring with a kind of asymmetrical profile that was lovely. Far too expensive for me to have purchased but perhaps it's good that it was too small for my finger so I didn't have to feel sad about leaving it behind. I would like some sort of jewelry with my daughter's birthstone, perhaps also my own, so Ellie Thompson is a place I will keep in mind when I am ready to explore the possibilities. There's a very high step from sidewalk to store level in order to enter the store. She was incredibly sweet and knowledgeable. I now understand why everyone in the neighborhood trusts her with their jewelry needs! The cost for appraisal was $50 which I understand to be pretty typical. It's clear she loves working with people to design jewelry as evidenced by decades of experience in the industry.
