More Beer Riverside is the best! Rob hooked us up with a commercial outdoor kegerator. I have brewed my own beer for years. Grandpa immigrated from Munchen in 1905 and brewed Hefeweizen in the basement in Ohio. I was lucky to learn from him. If you brew, a kegerator is the only way to go. If you can bake a cake, you can make beer. We are fortunate to have this store in our area, they have everything you need to start brewing or even open up a brewery. The staff is generally knowledgeable and helpful, some are experts. Commenter Sil T must not know how to bake a cake and therefore should not brew beer or reproduce. There are tons of kits and they have brewing demos every other Saturday. The best thing about this place are their employees. They are always knowledgeable about their products and the processes. On two previous trips to B3, I found the staff (usually one guy behind the counter) to be amazingly ambivalent, and perhaps even a little perturbed by my being there. On my most recent visit, I wasn't able to purchase any supplies because they were having a "brew day" (where they demonstrate how to brew beer), so the place was absolutely PACKED, and I had no desire to wait an hour to purchase supplies. I really don't understand why they wouldn't set up at least one other register on brew days. Unfortunately, they are the closest homebrew supply shop to the Coachella Valley, so they have very little motivation to offer better customer service -- at least until somebody opens a shop in the Inland Empire. I schlep out all the way to Riverside (90 minutes if traffic is perfect) to this place once a year, every year for one reason only... they are a drop off point for the Sam Adams Longshot homebrew contest. That's what got me here. But if you are like any good red blooded homebrewer, you see just how freaking amazing this place is. I really wanted to give this place a 4 star because I'm loyal to my local shop... but these once a year trips really help me pick up random things that you can't get at the local shop. Not to mention, they have samples! There is a kegerator in the back where you can sample the recent creation... I had a German Rye beer this year. You just can't beat a store where you get free beer (samples), can you?! Anyway, amazing store. Totally worth a once a year visit for that rare beer item you've been looking for to complete your homebrewery! read more

I want so badly for this place to deserve 4 stars! So imagine this as 3.5. They have a better selection of beer/wine/cider making supplies than any place in the area. They are within half an hour drive of me, so it's very convenient. The employees are nice and you can call ahead to have them pack an order for you. This is very convenient. They also sell kits here. The reason I can't add another star is that a few people on the very small staff are virtually useless. I have seen some slacking and laziness as well as a bit of disorganized. A couple have no idea what aisle things might be on...and there are about 5 aisles. This store is often out of inventory, so call ahead to check if this is a drive for you. I also purchased a few preassembled parts here (clamped hoses/tubing etc) and every.single.one. leaked.....so I ended up having to re-cut hose, buy new clamps and do it myself. Don't buy these. They sell small CO2 tanks here, but do not refill them...so you'll have to find another place. If you have a large order or something special I think it is best to order it from their website and have it shipped, either to yourself or to their store for pick up. They offer a small AHA (5%) discount and another discount if you can prove you are part of a local homebrew club. Two people I highly recommend working with here are Dan S and Rob. They know their stuff and if you can corner them for a moment they will answer anything you have to ask about beer and set ups. They seem to be the ones doing most of the work here, have been there a while and truly like their job ( good senses of humor help too). Generally a friendly shop, a great place to just wander for ideas with a good selection of grain, hops and common supplies (carboys, tubing, bottles, kegs) considering the tiny size of the shop. If you are even thinking of homebrewing this is the place to explore. Prices are standard. read more

Let's face it - this hobby is not quite as popular as golf...yet. Homebrewers / Winemakers are fortunate to have a shop like this in the area. Not every town has a shop and many I;ve been to leave a lot to be desired. Their systems are among the best you can get and I love mine! I'd give 5 starts but... Their ingredient selection, while adequate for most mainstream beers, could be better - especially malts. I bugs me that there is a great store nearby but I often end up driving an hours or ordering online to get what I need. The biggest ding is that they are always out of something I need. Not sure why but I've had my plans foiled several times due to their being out of stock on a common ingredient (Wheat Malt, 001 Yeast, etc). Anyhow - more than adequate for most brewers and they are very helpful for beginners and offer regular brewing demonstrations. This is the store that got me started. I was able to get everything I needed to start brewing. As I got more experienced this store has the supplies to help you move up into more complex beers. The place is always busy when I go which is a 1-2 times a month. But the customer service is great and they have really good advice. I came in 5 minutes before they closed and asked for a extract kit they did not have put together. But the guy was still willing to take his jacket off and build me the kit before he went home. I've seen Green Valley Home Brew supplies off the 10 freeway. Regardless, most of the time I order online for most of my things from Morebeer.com. Occasionally I still visit this oddly placed brick and mortar location. Despite that, I come expecting them to have everything that I need to brew. That being said the last visit was a bit of a disappointment. I was so excited to try the Russian River Pliny the Elder clone. Unfortunately that did not materialize at all. Instead the helpful staff helped me settle on the alternative of the Blind Pig IPA also from Russian River. Come to find out, there seems to be a slight employee issue at that store that is causing a slight understocking of inventory. As a matter of fact they had to substitue 2 of the hop pellets in the recipe so what I have brewed is probably that much less like the original. As far as customer service, it seems to be better than most. Although there is room for improvement. I was helped with the decision on which kit then promissed that the kit including the grain would be put together even though I said I wouldn't mind milling the grain myself. Ends up that I milled it myself because it was taking too long. On the possitive is the free metal work I got on my heavy duty boil pot cover. I bought a immersion chiller that day and needed the cover to be notched. Well that was done for free and done well..yay! read more

I stop in to More Beer whenever I run out of simple home brewing supplies and can't wait for them to ship (or don't want to pay for shipping). The crew is very helpful here. Many times, I can call an order in during the a.m. and pick up my order on my lunch hour, still leaving me plenty of time to grab lunch after. The shop isn't huge, so don't expect EVERYTHING they offer online to be in store. Definitely call ahead to check stock and avoid an unnecessary trip (although, to me, I don't mind because I'll just browse and take home some stuff I've been wanting). The prices here are very competitive with Northern Brewer and Midwest Supplies (where I purchase a lot of supplies from regularly). Again, More Beer is the place I go when I don't want to pay shipping and just need a few things. If they keep up the good customer service, I may ditch NB and MS to come here. read more

We grew hops for the second year in a row, and being novice beer brewers, More Beer was the perfect place to go to learn how to add them to our brew. We've been to other home brew places, but haven't had the help we've had here. We told Jim the hop varieties we had and fermentation requirements, and he whipped up a recipe in no time. He even said to call him if we have any questions. (Awesome!) We live an hour away and I can almost guarantee we will be back. Tip: if you google map this place, you'll get in the general vicinity, but it won't get you there. If you exit the 215, you have to go right on Dodson on from Columbia and make a U-turn to get there. read more

I've had 90 percent great experiences with this place. When things don't go my way, I can tell it was mostly due to many customers clogging up the place. I've known these guys for awhile, and they're really cool when things are normal. When I do ask them for help, they're usually great. I like that they usually have all the things I need for my brewdays. When I'm in need of a good starting point for a particular style, they have some very good kits. Whenever I have had an issue ordering from their website or had an issue with a product purchased here they have been more than willing to help me resolve the problem. Like others have said it can sometimes be hard to find someone at the store to help you out, although lately it looks like they have hired extra help to fix this. But once you get someone they do everything they can to make sure you're satisfied with your purchase. They are super friendly and very knowledgeable. As far as the store itself goes this is an amazing place for home brew equipment and supplies. They have everything you could need. I get all of my home brew supplies from here and have been very successful with my brews so far. They do occasionally run out of stock on stuff that is commonly needed but if you call ahead you can make sure they will have everything you need. Just wasted $230. I bought the homebrew kit and the salesman didn't tell me how absolutely difficult it would be to brew beer at home. When I looked at the instructions I couldn't understand almost any of them. So I put it all back in the box and it is now in storage never to be used again. My suggestion is to buy a very good beer and drink it. Trying to make it at home is a bunch of bull crap. Very frustrated! I had previously brewed beer over 20 years ago. The homebrew supply store I went to in San Marcus had very detailed step-by-step instructions that if you followed them would work. They even had a class showing how to make it. The Instructions I got with this kit we are bad and difficult to follow or understand. read more

Disappointed that I can't give a better rating. The store is about a half hour drive for me but came highly recommended. Tons of product. Really liked the amount of pre made kits available. But was let down when I got home, started preparing the grains for my partial mash brew, and discovered I was missing the oats for my oatmeal stout. Had to go to a more local shop to get it...
