The Mordi Sporting Club is one of those typical pubs where you'll find various aged sports fans scattered around a musty smelling room staring up at the numerous screens showing everything from horse to hound races, clutching their TAB tickets in hope.
A traditional Aussie club, the club is also where I often join my Dad and older brothers for a hearty pub lunch midweek where we can enjoy a game of pool, my brother can have a punt and the boys can escape the factory for an hour or so.
Serving traditional pub fare, you can expect to find soups, steak, salt and pepper squid, burgers and parmas, each for under $20. All the meals our clan has sampled have been tasty and definitely provides bang for your buck (typical huge pub portions). A small, but quite nice, beer garden is available to patrons if you choose to sit outside, however the interior is nothing to rave about - very traditional, quite outdated furnishings that is bizarrely contrasted with a huge plasma TV screen in the back eating area.
When visiting with my baby niece, the only high chair available was disgustingly filthy. Overall, more suited to tradies or local workmen wanting a quick counter meal or those who like to have a bet in their spare time. read more
