Our appointment was for 1pm and our van went in about 10 mins later. He had told me, when I made the appointment, exactly what each service would cost me. I brought my own tires and he put them on and balanced for way cheaper than all the other local shops. He inspected my van for less than the average price too. He showed me where I would need to have my tie rods replaced and suggested a trusted repair shop up the street as he was not equipped to do the alignment after the repair. At no time did I feel he was pushing add ons or unnecessary additional services. I would highly recommend going to Kingsley's Automotive for your vehicle repairs. Be advised that the shop looks like a one man show so wait times can vary but he comes out to let you know if anything is going to take longer. Thank you Ed for doing a great job! The back story is important. Friday (6/17) I spent the morning calling shop after shop after shop…read moretrying to get my brakes done. Each shop was booked out for at least two weeks. I hopped on yelp and sent Tenney Mountain Auto Repair a message and Patrick (owner and mechanic) responded quickly. I described the issue and he came up with two possibilities, pads and rotors or ball joint. He asked for my VIN# and then sent me an estimate. Very reasonable estimate. Monday (6/20) the car was at his shop ready for work. He took care of the back brakes and then showed me the front. TO paraphrase," The fronts are fine, but they will need to be done soon.. Let me show you.." I want to make this clear, he said it will be fine for now. I decided to get the fronts done also. He got them done.. ALL UNDER ESTIMATE. Patrick was knowledgeable, kind, wicked sense of humor, and answered questions. His shop is clean and comfortable (no fancy waiting room, but you can watch him work on your ride). The message was pay us now, $1,200 or, if I wait, the price of fixing the car at a later date would be $2,800. I was leaving on a 12 day trip in a couple of weeks so we left the car to have the work done while we were gone. When we returned home, we went down to pick it up and it was not ready "we need to test drive it one more time" We returned the next day, the car was ready and I was handed a bill of $2,800. That is not the work I asked for, that was the cost if I let the problem get worse. I was fuming inside but paid the bill and left. When I returned home, I found two Wyndham Hotel keys in my center console which I cleaned out before I dropped the car off. There was significant mileage on my car. I called and spoke with Eric. He claimed the hotel keys were probably found on the floor of the garage and someone put them in my car ( huh?). He also denied someone drove my car - well, I sure didn't and I knew what the milage was because they had just changed my oil and I was able to calculate the difference. Overall, very disappointing as it is so difficult to find honest mechanics. The people who referred us to Auto Advisors are no longer customers there either.
