Well, I plucked my dad out of this godforsaken facility before they killed him! He is now in a…read morefacility where he thrives. He has energy because he is properly hydrated and nourished. He's incorporated into activities, spoken to, as though he's a human, rather than an object. His body is no longer purple from the waist up from the untrained, unskilled mishandling him. He's not dropped on the floor, not transferred inappropriately and not in bondage on the floor in all day long. He is beginning to walk again at 102 years old, his mental state is far better, as are his cognitive abilities. Woodmark administration is lousy, non-caring, non-responsive, non-accountable. I unfortunately left my father there for one year, believing he's self injured as I was told until he himself told me that he will not move or ask for anything because they hurt him, and he is scared for his life. I quickly removed him before they killed him, they demanded the next months rent anyway. I called APS and they failed to comply to their recommendations. Woodmark feels to distribute medication's timely and left my dad without morphine after being prescribed for injuries, they caused. Heartless! They do not chart properly, and his injuries do not match up with those that Hospice came in treated. I trusted them, and all they did was lie to me. I am so glad that I remove my father and put him somewhere where he now enjoys life. When I attempted to contact their corporate heads, which are national, they do not respond. It is their culture. This is their culture. It's a horrible money making machine off the backs of the helpless.

So I contacted A PLACE FOR MOM and agent Jim Griffing (Albuquerque) immediately contacted me and patiently asked detailed questions about my housing and care giving requirements, etc. Then he sent me 6 facilities to visit and evaluate. Over the next few days, I toured all his suggestions, and came up with 3 "winners", and my friend chose the one she felt most comfortable with. I am grateful for Jim's daily information, insights, and recommendations - he made my task much easier. Jim is an outstanding professional from A PLACE FOR MOM, and I feel very lucky that he was my agent.

This company has no communication process for alerting families when covid is active in the house…read more You are very vulnerable when you visit. Their employess often work 24 and 36 hour shifts. This results in no hourly bed checks so if your loved one falls it will go unoticed. If your loved ones wake all night it won't be seen. While many care takers are kind, this in my mothers experience at her house wasn't the case. My mother had many falls and multiple injuries while she was there. My mom didn't like her caretaker, I think she was frightened of the caretaker. The door was left open by this same caretaker and a resident wandered off. My mom was removed from this location and as I have now learned she wasn't the first one. It was because of the same caretaker. Maybe this house was aone off but they did nothing to help the residents after concerns were brought forward. Maybe my mom just got unlucky by living at the wrong house.

Another one smelled like marijuana. And you complain and all they do is fire, and move on hiring the same people. My mother is very well taken care of and I have zero worries about her care or needs at Avista. I've often visited on varying days of the week and at varying times and the level of care is always very good. They have many core staff members that have been there for the entire time (and longer) that my mother has been in their care. The current Executive Director has been in her current position longer than any other ED at this facility and has all of the staff and residents concerns at heart. The consistency, the cleanliness, the care, the food are all at the highest benchmarks in the industry. They also engage the residents in many activities from group exercises to arts and crafts to singalongs. I could not recommend Avista more highly and know that anyone's loved one would be very well cared for at this facility.
