Great work by Rene Mora and Raul. The quote was competitive and m detailed on what to expect. The team is small and they pay attention to detail when they work. The job took around 5 days from power washing to final touch ups . They came in a timely manner and were professional throughout the job being done. When they found the walls were chalky, they put a sealer on there to make it so the paint would adhere better. When one of my front columns showed termite damage, I cleaned that rot out and they put bondo there to make the column look like new. That was great. I needed to have my large, two-story, 1929 Mission-style home painted this year since it had been 20+ years since it was last painted. I'm fairly knowledgeable about painting and also very particular about the products and process used as well as the overall quality of the job. I chose five painting companies to submit bids based upon the quantity and rating of their on-line reviews and Mora Painting was one of those bidders. In order to be able to directly compare the bids, I had put together a detailed spec/statement of work defining what paints (brands, product level, sheen ) I wanted, as well as the individual prep, priming and painting steps I expected. Before submitting their bids, each company did a walk-through of the job site with me, and had a chance to ask questions and describe their plans, products, process and estimated timeline. At the end of each walk-through, I gave each company a copy of my spec/SOW and reviewed it with them. Based on those walk-throughs alone, and before receiving any bids, I already was leaning toward Mora Painting to do the job and hoped for a competitive bid. At the walk-through, Mario's description of their proposed painting products and process nearly exactly matched my spec/SOW even before he had seen it. That told me a lot about Mora Painting's business philosophy. When I received the five bids back in a few days, I can't say that Mora Painting was the lowest bidder, but their bid was clearly the most responsive to what I had specified, and their knowledge, experience and professionalism came across clearly in my discussions with Rene (owner) and Mario (his brother). The total job took about five weeks (including two weeks of very detail prep) with one to three painters working at any given time, and the final result is amazing. Many of the neighbors have commented on how great the house looks with its new, traditional color scheme, and I agree, but I mostly appreciate that the job was done right, by painters who really care about the quality of their work. I've been watching a lot of Youtube and the secret to a great job is the prep before the painting days. This is where Rene from Mora Painting really shines. We did do our research and got bids from 3 other companies. However, Rene was the only contractor that I trusted to spend a lot of attention to the details. The house was in bad shape before and needed a lot of weather sealing and prep-work. Rene assured me that he would seal and prime all the trouble areas and he spent a lot of time prepping the house so that the painting would be smooth and look great. He was able to fade the stucco cracks so that you can't even see them with fresh paint. Further, Rene is old school and does a proper two coats of paint. The outside was looking great so we expanded our contract and had him take care of a lot of issues inside the house. The doors and the touch-ups made the home feel like new. I don't usually post reviews, and when I do, they are normally critical of something that disturbs me. But Mora Painting did such an exceptional job painting the outside of our house that I had to share my great experience. Rene and his crew were consummate professionals, starting with our first meeting to talk about getting a bid for the job to the final walk-through and clean-up. Rene's bid was reasonable and was right in the middle of the other bids we got. This was the third time our house was painted, and I have never seen such meticulous prep work, which lasted for several days before the first drop of primer was applied. Rene identified numerous problem areas around the house that needed repair, including loose trim, uncaulked windows, broken siding, and areas of water decay. Rene repaired all of these, and in addition, power washed our deck and exterior furniture for us. He addressed areas of the previous paint job where bubbling had occurred and carefully cleaned and specially primed them. Rene discussed the choice of paints with me and recommended paints that would be best able to survive the harsh afternoon sun. The whole house was primed, and two coats of paint were applied. I was often surprised when Rene found new areas of the house to paint that were missed in previous jobs. I was impressed by how hard working and affable all of Rene's crew were. Rene and his team are awesome. We have two young kids and so our walls took a beating and needed some TLC. Rene came through, I told him, I have a very small window and that I would like the ceilings, walls, and front door worked on. The problem, I did not have the right paint to match my existing paint. Rene, walked me through everything he would do, how long it would take him, and said he would do his best to get the paint matched. Obviously, I scouted other painters, but none of them gave me a timeline they would finish within, the exact work they would do, and gave me assurance the whole way through that they would get the job completed. Mind you, I needed the work to start with literally 2-days notice. Rene came through. It is more challenging than you would think to find a painter that would also do staining. Came across Rene and his company through Yelp. He was more than willing to accommodate a late meeting the very next day in order to provide a bid and assess the scope of work. The very next day, when I accepted the bid, I was contacted and provided a day the work would be done. Rene kept in contact with me leading up to the day of work, and made another trip back in the interim to collect the deposit and have the contract signed. The crew showed up on the day expected and completed the work within the timeframe specified. It looked fantastic and evenly coated. I can imagine the difficulty in preventing the stain from bleeding into an adjacent piece, and the prep time that went into the site. I was unable to be present for the work, but upon my return home knew that the area was well protected with attention paid to protecting our surfaces and cleaning up the job site after the work was completed. As can happen with stucco walls we developed cracks all around the exterior, most of them were smallish but one side of the house had extensive cracking.
