Great little diner for some good burgers and homemade fries with a view! Hunters Bourbon Burger

Enjoyed a very well-balanced burger. I didn't think I'd be able to eat the entire burger and before I knew it, I did! The brioche bun kept it light, giving it the perfect balance to a huge patty. To my surprise, I did not feel overstuffed. I ordered it cooked "medium" and it was cooked to perfection. Thanks for a great experience- worth the drive from the highway on our way to Burlington.

During a road trip we happened upon this little diner . So glad we did. Everything exceeded all of our expectations . Service was great, food was great and the view is amazing . Desserts were super as well. I would 100% recommend stopping here!

I should have known better, though. What we got: - Lobster roll flight - Fried clams dinner The lobster roll flight is served as an appetizer and doesn't come with any sides. It was lobster prepared 3 ways. Classic butter, wine sauce, and a jalapeño mayo. The classic was good, the wine sauce was bad, and the jalapeño mayo overwhelmed the lobster flavor. It would be better as a classic mayo with a drizzle of the jalapeño sauce. In all 3, the lobster was overcooked and the portion was small. The fried clams were delicious. About 9 or 10 in total. A big portion of fries and two small hush puppies. The hush puppies were delicious. But for $30, the price is too high for what you get. The server was friendly, but her energy was off-putting. She was very erratic, made sure to mention that they had drinks on the menu, and then proceeded to give a detailed list of every alcoholic beverage they had. We came in for lunch, on a Wednesday, and weren't looking to drink; her energy just didn't match the energy of the room. When we said we were just going to have water. She exclaimed "FANTASTIC, LOVE THAT!" and then rushed off. Surf Shack was a hit and a miss. But more of a miss. For $75, 1 app, 1 entree, and water. The price is outrageous for what you get.

If you haven't been to Papa Tirozzi's Italian Bakery in St. Johnsbury yet, stop what you're doing…read moreand go. Seriously. We drive over an hour--each way--on a busy Saturday morning just to get our hands on Tony's fresh donuts, bagels, and that perfect Friday night pizza. And it's worth every mile. Tony is one helluva chef. His baking skills? Impeccable. Whether it's a pastry or a pizza, everything is made fresh, with love, and you can taste it. His pizza is NEVER soggy, always hot, perfectly cooked, and topped with the freshest cheese. And the sauce... oh man, the sauce. I go in for lunch and order plain boneless wings just so I can dip them in Tony's red sauce instead of the usual dressings. That sauce is so good, I've been known to eat the leftovers with a spoon. It's rich and flavorful but never leaves you with that heavy, acidic regret some sauces do. It's just right. Now let's talk seafood. Yes, seafood. In Vermont. And it's some of the best I've ever had. Tony brings it in fresh, and when he's out, he's out--and I love that. It shows integrity. No "carryover specials," no shortcuts. Just honest, high-quality food made fresh and served with pride. The whole place is a gem. Anthony and Nancy are the kind of owners who care deeply about what they're serving and who they're serving it to. Donna's always there with a smile, helping out and keeping things moving. It feels like family when you walk through the door. If anyone says they're not awesome, I'd bet money it's a jealous competitor trying to figure out how to get a piece of the Tirozzis magic. Because let's be real--there's no faking what they do.

Most of my problems had to do with the kitchen. Me and two others in my party ordered the Buffalo Mac and cheese. Another ordered the beef tacos. Basically nothing came out super hot. My Mac and cheese had several bites that were straight up cold. The food came out fast, so i don't think our waitress left it sitting out. But because some bites were cold, I do wonder if the noodles came out of a frozen bag. The beef tacos were also cold. They remade the tacos, so that was good, but the were a bit bland. They did not have enough of the noodles left, so they could not remake the Buffalo Mac and cheese. However they asked me to pick something else. I went with the boneless wings. Those came out very hot and they were very good. It was just a very unfortunate start to the beginning of dinner.

Will never be perfect, or Homes and Garden ready, but its home, perfect the way it is. I had the scallop plate (one of many blackboard specials). Portion was very large and they were cooked to perfection, definitely tasted fresh and not Sysco frozen. Dad (92) stuck with Chicken Tenders which he DEVOURED. Thought we'd be taking 1/2 of it home, he doesn't usually eat much, they must have been delicious. We are just visiting, he lives here, I'm sure they will be seeing him often. Son (19) had the burger with bacon, the little I saw of it it looked perfectrly done.. I caught a glimpse before he inhaled it. All of our fries were done to perfection, slightly overcooked to make a crispy outside and awesome inside. They all disappeared pretty quick too. Was hoping for whole belly fried clams, but may have to wait for our next venture North from Maryland

I had the chicken burrito with rice and black beans, a little of Brazilian fejioada, Cuban "moros y cristianos" and Mexican flavored chicken. Oh yummy. My spouse had the pulled pork and fries. Also excellent. They have a fine brew selection as well as featured drinks and they're getting an espresso maker to make espresso martinis. Superb lunch

We also ordered Fried pickles to open. The fried pickles appeared to be hand, cut, dipped and fried. They were delicious! We thought the dill ranch sauce served with the pickles was delicious as well. After quizzing our server about what was good and if we were only going to eat there once, what should we have, I ordered their Vermont Chicken and my wife their chicken Parmesan. I thought the Vermont chicken was extremely good! Just a tinge of maple syrup, sweetness, and the sauce and the chicken with fried apples and cheese! Simply delicious. I also ordered their sautéed potatoes which had that same sweetness. My wife's chicken Parmesan was a huge dish! We ended up taking a large chunk of it home as well as half of my chicken. We decided on their bacon, chocolate sundae, happy we did as it was delicious! The restaurant itself was clean and well kept, and all the servers seem to be positive, professional, and friendly! All in all a terrific meal here in Vermont!
