an omelet on a plate with a fork

I really wanted to give this restaurant five stars but...the "excellent" service was lacking and my omelet had way to much cheese on it. Also there was loud construction right in front of the doorway which could have been done after hours considering this place closes at 2pm. Nonetheless, it was a nice little breakfast joint with decent prices. Also I personally enjoyed the decor!

Booth #7 is a Republican paradise. Eat lunch with Bush Sr, Bush Jr, Reagan, and Lincoln, lol.

Step foot inside the Moosehead Cafe and you'll know right away (if you hadn't already figured it out) that you're in the ruby red heart of East Texas. I just had to chuckle at all of the over-the-top political campaign posters, Bush portraits, and right-wing bumper stickers displayed on the walls -- my 80+ year old staunch conservative dad would LOVE it in here! We were driving through town on a weekday and happened to come through right at lunch time. We parked in the small town square across from the courthouse, then came in to order the specials of the day: chicken & dumplings for my sister, chili and cornbread for me. Of course, they have sweet tea. Service was prompt, as in our food came out within 60 seconds after ordering since it just had to be ladled out of the pot. The food was really just alright. I thought the chili had nice, rich flavor, but it was mostly "gravy" with very little meat. My sister's dumplings just didn't hold a candle to our family recipe. The cornbread was a little sweet for our taste, and the side of pinto beans was very bland. On the bright side, everyone we encountered inside was friendly, and the price was definitely right. I think our whole bill for 2 lunches and 2 drinks was around $14. For that price, I'm happy to support a local independent business with this meal rather than whizzing through the predictable fast food chain up the road. After we ate, we enjoyed browsing the knick-knacks and vintage items in the back. There we met one of proprietors who talked to us about his antique books obsession, and it was fascinating to see some of the stacks of WWII soldier's letters he had collected over time. The Moosehead seems to be a community gathering spot, a place where locals come in to visit each other, share some gossip, and reminisce about their glory days. If I'm ever back in town, I wouldn't mind stopping by, especially if I have my R-voting family members with me.

Great Yelp find! We stopped in here in the way home from Fort Worth & we felt right at home with the conservative decor! I donated one of my engraved cutting boards.

Located right on the corner, very easy to find!

This is such a fun little place! It's actually quite large and handles the lunch crowd really well. We took our four kids-moose strip meal: a very large chicken strip that was hand battered, fries, and toast- fed each child with a few bites leftover. We had the BBQ sandwich and the chicken fried steak sandwich. I ordered onion rings with mine-YUM!! All the portions were very large and tasty. Food came out freshly prepared and piping hot. There is a little gift shop toward the back by the bathrooms-my daughter noticed that the bathroom smelled "really nice!" Ha! Anyway, nice selection of souvenir and gift items: handmade soap, cards, wooden signs, and t-shirts. There also is a place to buy freshly ground coffee and candy by the pound. Overall, fun family place with sweet servers, an old fashioned diner style bar and lots of memorabilia from Texas history.

Nice old cafe. Home cooking. Loved the decor. If your a liberal without a sense of humor, don't go. Loved the circle in the middle of town.

Really interesting place, I'm glad I stopped by and had burger. The curly fries are ok, the onion rings are pretty darn good.

You can't go wrong with prices half you'd find in the city & that is miles better in taste & quality!! Don't settle for less, come to the Trinity Cafe! I was so impressed with my catfish hoagie/po-boy. Upon order, even with the buffet style 1-2-3 meat (pork chops, hamburger steak, chicken fried steak, Lima beans, black eyed peas, cabbage with sausage, authentic mashed potatoes) with 1-2-3 sides beckoning my hungry self right in front of me, the lady said, "Ooh now, that's a good choice!" And she wasn't wrong!! I requested blackened style (think grilled w flavor) & the hoagie bun was so perfect I thought I was eating in New Orleans. I didn't picture my table mate's meal but sampling it, the potatoes & peas sent me back to the farmhouse days fresh from the garden. Hey y'all, this is a win, keep celebrating & bring on the good eats! Small town charm & old fashioned true cuisine that can't be missed. I'll be thinking about this meal for a long time.
