This is a great barbershop. I had not been in a barbershop since the start of the pandemic. I had let both hair and beard grow, and they did not look that good. Mr. Moore did an incredible job on both. I look like a new man. I've been in a lot of barbershops over the years (my 80th birthday is tomorrow) and this is one of the best. The shop is not fancy, but they sure know what they are doing! You will have trouble finding better. read more

These reviews aren't real just look at the posts. All 5 star and then random 1 stars. No 2, 3 or 4 stars. The stats here are rigged and you should be cautious. I've visited this barber shop 3x in the past 3 years. I was highly disappointed every time. Rookie mistakes every time. Crooked lines, ruff lines, push back hairlines, patchy trimming. No razor use for sharp lines. Just all around Trash. I really think these guys are just high and only care enough to get by. The regulars really confuse me tho because they seem so satisfied yet when they get out of the chair their cuts don't even look fresh. I suggest you either cut your hair yourself or just go somewhere else. This place consist of 2 guys with trimmers who can barely fade and just get by on regulars who just want a quick cut and don't really care how it comes out. I've been going to Moore's for years, as does my brother, uncles, etc. This shop was started decades ago by the now retired Mr. Moore and is run today by his son Jim. I am the first to admit that I can be a little vain. As such, I have always been very particular about where I get my hair cut. (I also have a rather large, oddly-shaped head, which means I NEED a good cut.). When I first moved to Arlington, I was still going all the way back into the city to my former barber--and paying him $48 a pop. A friend of mine told me about Moore's. He gave it a great endorsement. I tried it out, and needless to say, I haven't been back to see my old guy. (Sorry, Kadri!) Jim and Clay are both great barbers and nice guys. Smart and funny too. There is never a dull moment at Moore's! (Get it, a "dull" moment?) Now, let me address what to some may be a sticking point here. Jim and Clay are black. Most--but not all--of their clientele are black. I had never been to a "black" barbershop before, simply because it never occurred to me. To be honest, I would probably have never tried Moore's if not for my friend's reco. I am glad I did! I assure you, these guys can cut a white dude's better then most white dudes that I've tried over the years! They are also great with kids. My 3 y.o. son gets his cuts there now and my 6 month old will too (when he gets something to cut!) Even my wife--who spends ungodly amounts of money on her hair--stopped in to get her neckline trimmed up recently. In short, give it a try! You will be glad you did. read more

I've been looking for a barber now that I live in Arlington and heard good things about Moore's. I did some google searching and saw they had 4.5 out of 5 stars and they were 2 miles from me. I walked in around lunch time and was greeted by Jim as I entered. He was very nice and the shop had a good vibe. Jim took his time and it turned out great. Prices are normal compared to other barber shops that I have been too. They had many pictures on the wall of famous people and regular customers that have came in. Been coming to Moores for over 30 years. Got my first haircut there. Jims dad used to cut my hair and for him to pass the torch and jim to keep it lit is historic. Generations have come through that front door. My dad got his hair cut here as a kid and through his life as well as my uncles and cousins too. No matter where I go or if I go somewhere else to occasionally get my haircut, THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME. ITS A HALLS HILL STAPLE! I can go to both Clay and Jim and know they are going to take care of me as well as have some funny and serious convos about sports, politics and life. You can spend hours in there and enjoy every minute of it. Worst haircut I had in years. If you can afford to go anywhere else, go and do so. Have gone in a couple times and each time has gotten worse when they cut my hair. So we live in Arlington and had to do an online search to find a barber for our boys. Needless once we started going here, there was no turning back. I like the approach of both the barbers that ask our sons what they would like (even though we pay) to get their client's input. This is mentoring at its best because of including our sons. The older one now chooses the style he wants his hair cut into for our youngest, mom does the ordering, neat, short back & sides. And it works out every time. I've been bringing my son here since he was little and he's always gotten a great, affordable cut by either of the two caring and attentive barbers. Now that he's a teen I especially appreciate the smart convo and community atmosphere as well. The wait can be long at peak times, and the parking isn't great, but it's all worth it. I'm sorry to the white woman who didn't feel like she was treated properly. As a white woman, I just went to see Mr. Moore, after a terrible haircut. Was he able to fix it to what I wanted originally ? No, because it was way too short for that. But did Mr. Moore make me able to feel confident and fix my hair as best as it could be. Yes. I will be returning to his shop. I will sit in either barbers chair. I visited the barbershop last night and it was the best decision of my life! Since I am a female, I was nervous that it may not work out well but i LOVE it. The sides and back of my hair are low, but I opted to keep the front long. Both men were friendly and I waited probably about 20 minutes as there were a few people waiting to get a haircut. I had a hard time explaining what I wanted, because it was my first time, but i knew what I didnt want! Clay was awesome and he even waited for me to go to the ATM machine after he cut my hair. It was only $12!!! I did notice a sign that read there would be a price increase beginning Feb 1, 2014. I think it will be $15 for a basic haircut, but it is VERY well worth it. I was looking for a new barber on Yelp and came across the GREAT reviews for Moore's Barber Shop, so I stopped by today for my first visit. Moore's lives up to and beyond those reviews. VERY friendly place, great conversation, and a very very good haircut. Best I've had in more years than I can remember. Also the lowest cost haircut I've had in a long time. And plenty of free parking in back. I've always preferred local community establishments rather than large chains, but most of the independent barbers I've tried in the last bunch of years have been average to above average. Moore's has them all beat. This may be a sensitive subject, but I'll mention it anyway. I'm caucasian, and I did notice that most of the reviews were by black customers. There were a few by caucasians who were very impressed with Moore's, and I have to agree completely. I'm DEFINITELY going back. If you are hesitant at all about trying Moore's, don't be. I was new to Arlington and was looking for an 'authentic' barbershop experience without all the usual nonsense that goes on at far too many black barbershops. Moore's was right on time. Small shop but very welcoming. Good conversation but respectful of my time. Typical wait on weekdays has been less than 20 minutes. After explaining the cut I wanted on my first visit, Mr Moore gave me the perfect cut. Since then I just sit down in the chair and he remembers exactly how I like it. Haven't used Clay but all the cuts I've seen him do have been outstanding. Both barbers are friendly and professional. This review is for Mr Moore. Don't go here if you are white (discrimination as soon as I sat in the chair - he refused to even make small talk, when every single other person he found something to talk about). Don't go here if you want to give any kind of instruction on what you want done (either he cannot do a neat/clean cut or he messed up on purpose). I gave the same instructions repeatedly and he would not listen (example - show me what you are going to do before you cut). So sad. By the way, the owner (JAMES M) created a review (now removed) for his own shop and added multiple "tips." That is shady. Think about this for a minute - if all of the reviews are positive, what is the likelihood that the owner is falsely reporting the negative reviews to get them removed? read more

His razors scratch your head painfully and does not pay attention to details. My left sideburn was cut significantly differently from the right side. Also, he accidentally cut off a huge chunk of my hair from the hair line since he didn't care to separate the hair apart. So I got short hair sticking out from the side right between the hairline and long hair. read more

My haircut did not come out well. The barber used an electric razor entirely, without using scissors or thinning shears at all. The cut did not maintain my part. The bangs are very short and not straight at all, let alone angled properly for parted hair. They are very nice, but they did not demonstrate to me any skill in cutting medium-length straight hair. read more

My pre-teen son has been reluctant to go to a barber, so I've always cut his hair. It wasn't terrible but it also wasn't great. We went to Moore's on a snow day and there was a trickle of customers. The barber was kind, attentive and low key. He checked with my son throughout the cut to make sure it was exactly what he wanted. The cut was tight! At the end, both son & Mom were smiling.
