Travis Moore is Moore Custom Builders Inc. He will hire subcontractors for most jobs as he did with a few jobs he did for me. In 2012 he did not have any employees.
He can successfully complete simple jobs; for me he replaced a sidewalk and added a fence (with the help of subs). He did do a good job of texturing the walls on my renovation (below).
I needed a general contractor for a room addition and major renovation to a 3 bed/2 bath. After getting 6 quotes I decided to hire Travis since his quote was among the lowest. This job entailed demolishing the back of the house, adding a nook with lots of glass, significant custom concrete work, rewiring the house, lots of drywall/re-taping. I did the construction drawings myself and secured all building permits on my first try with the City of San Jose. I knew what I was doing and that sign-off confirmed it. Travis and I negotiated the job and scheduling with a hard completion date. He began the job with a couple subs and did fine until the shear wall construction was underway. Either he didn't read the plans and tell the sub, or the sub didn't look at the plans because I caught an error requiring the shear wall to be rebuilt. Other serious errors made include disconnecting a necessary kitchen circuit and then drywalling over it, plumbing the new water heater backwards, re-plumbing of bathrooms was defective, a beam in the garage let loose, the concrete forms were set wrong, obvious poor mud & taping, etc.
We negotiated add-on work and ! gave him an extra month to complete the job. Even with that concession, the renovation was completed months late! After completion I needed to hire another plumber to fix the plumbing Travis did. I also had to hire another building contractor to repair/shore-up a beam in the garage that released as a result of Moore Custom Builders construction.
If you decide to hire him, you must keep a close watch on the progress and make corrections before they get to be big problems. read more
