Shear Shack came up & I was able to make an appointment on her website which was awesome. I arrived & Kristy was as sweet as could be. I showed her a picture of what I wanted & discussed some concerns which she addressed & really helped put me at ease. Kristy was so friendly & we chatted the whole time, I love that I wasn't just sitting there in an awkward silence which has happened at other places before. I felt like we were old friends. She REALLY knows what she's doing! My color is great & I love my cut, it looks so healthy! To top it off, her salon interior is AWESOME & totally retro! I am blonde and often have trouble with roots around my hairline. She is quite exceptional in going nearly all the way to the scalp- making my blonde highlighted hair look natural. While I don't usually take the time to write a review, I am so thankful for Ann and her expertise…read more She is so knowledgeable as a master stylist and took the time to not only fix my botched hair but also explain what actually works for my particular hair type. When I told her what happened she immediately educated me on what should have happened and what was not right. I thought instantly why would a professIonal in their field not know or explain all this to me like Ann did. I had a terrible experience at my previous salon. I hope you can understand after I tell you my story what Ann was working with when I walked in. I have natural strawberry blonde hair. When I asked for a balayage my stylist toned my "red" roots (four times in one sitting because my red wouldn't take to the brown toner) and toned my "barely blonde" ends. I let it go not knowing that a toner doesnt last but only maybe a week after. Hence my natural color would be back and my nearly $300 was instantly wasted. I then had my extensions put in that matched my strawberry blonde hair. I had asked them to cut my hair to remove the dead ends before they put my extensions in and they told me that they'd do it when they put my extensions in because they'll have to blend it. Not thinking about it I should have know that that was a huge mistake. They cut my natural hair with them in! You are basically cutting hair blind when extensions are already in. I have very fine hair and the extensions they put in were very heavy to a point where just sitting in the car and driving my neck was hurting. I thought this was normal. I had to go back to the salon several times after they were put in and after move ups because the string kept slipping. I was holding my hair in with a Bobby pin most days. You could also tell I had extensions in because they never put enough rows in to blend my top layers even after I asked in several appointments to blend them. They always said they didn't want to loose the length so they trimmed them and that's all. My hair was a hot mess and I was so embarrassed that I didnt immediately question anything. I don't do hair and honestly wouldnt think to question someone who does this for a living. Ann explained that well basically the extensions they put in were like wearing carpet on my head and the type of hair was to thick for my fine hair. There was no cutting my hair after taking the carpet out but only to order new extensions and allow my hair to grow back. I was almost in tears when she took the carpet out. Ann also safely colored my hair in two sessions and put in extensions that matched and actually look and feel like my natural hair. If I never went to Ann I would have definetly just thought this was the norm but I'm so glad I did. Ann is an honorable woman who really cares about your needs and wants. She didnt have to spend all the countless hours educating me on what works for me but she did. She did a complete 360 fixing my hot mess and continued to follow up with me after making sure everything was holding up. She knows her stuff and I would recommend her to anyone!

But after the takeover by new management last year, the experience has gone down hill. Recent visit for a spa facial was less than pleasant. Student asked for my feedback, which I shared with her. Then I expanded on my dissatisfaction with the receptionist. Follow up email from management sounded more like I was being chastised. She offered to refer me to another neighborhood spa. I thanked her for her offer, politely declined, and assured her I would not be returning. Gave her a couple days to reply to my feedback. Nothing forthcoming, so I'm happy to share my displeasure with anyone interested. Very sad , and too bad their students are not taught about the real world .

It was my moms birthday - with that they have a party "package" with discounted rates. When we arrived she had mimosas for us & we had the salon to ourselves. The facials with Shelby were amazing, we felt so refreshed. We also ended up getting deep conditioning treatments while waiting for our turn for the facials.
