If there was a way to rate Chad Hambry and Alpha Fence lower, I would do it. I've never been lied to by anyone so much in my life. In short, we agreed to a an amount for him to build us a fence. He told us it would take about 4-6 business days to do it. The fence should have been done a month ago, but at this point, I'm forced to either finish it myself or hire it out. I intend to hire it out will sue him in small claims court. Here's the rest of the story. Chad built us a fence years ago at our old house. He was a little hard to get a hold of, but once they showed up to work, the did a good job. The price was right. He had been recommended to me by a friend and after he built our fence, I recommended him to other folks I knew. Fast forward 4 years and we had moved into another home. I obtained bids from a few fence contractors, but after finally hearing from Chad and being the loyal person that I am, I went with him. He told me that typically he takes half the money up front, half upon completion, but that in this case the materials were going to cost more than half the total cost and he wasn't in the position to cover the difference. I asked him how much the materials would cost and he told me. I wrote him a check for the materials and he told me that he would be out two days later to begin work. He cashed the check I wrote him the day after I wrote it. He didn't show up the day he told me he was going to start, but texted me that night with excuses. This would be the first day of many he wouldn't show up when he told me he was going to show up, most times with out communicating with me. This was the first of an untold number of excuses as to why. I literally cannot count the number of excuses I've heard and the lies I've been told. Over the next three weeks, they showed up to work before noon once. When they would show up, they would typically arrive between 1:30pm and 3pm and work for a couple hours. There were a number of times, where Chad would leave his workers and they weren't able to get a hold of him. The set a whole line of posts where I specifically asked Chad not to set them. There were a number of times where one worker would sit and watch the other worker work. Myself and my family watched Chad clean out his truck a number of times instead of getting work done on the fence. Now for more lies. About two weeks after the fence was supposed to be done, I got a text from Chad. He told me that he didn't have enough money to cover the materials needed to finish the job. He sent me a partial invoice from the fence company, with a bunch of hand written notes as to how much all of the materials had cost him. He told me that the fence company wouldn't release the materials to him unless they were paid for first. I told him there was no way I was giving him another dime, but that I would pay the fence company for the materials so he could finish. I paid the fence company and requested all invoices related to my job. As you can imagine, the handwritten notes Chad sent me were inflated costs. Basically, $4000 I'd given him for materials was unaccounted for. The Fence Materials company was very apologetic. The person/business I spoke with had a long history with Chad and told me that although they didn't want to speak bad about anyone, had I consulted them before hiring Chad, they would have steered me as far away as possible. I will keep the rest of conversation confidential, but let's just say that Chad cannot be trusted with anything. I would not trust him with a lone dollar at this point. Chad did not finish my fence that weekend he told me would (which would have been about two weeks late anyway) and to date, although he had workers here for a few hours a couple weeks ago, they got very little done. Throughout our dealing, I tried to be kind, compassionate and understanding as he gave me excuse after excuse. At some point however, I had to settle on the fact that CHAD HAMBRY IS A LIAR AND AT THIS POINT A THIEF. Between the initial check I gave him for the materials and the payment I made to the fence materials company, I've paid all but about $130 dollars of the agreed upon price to finish the fence. Chad will not answer my calls or texts. CHECK BBB. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I AND OTHERS MADE. I TOLD HIM I WAS GONIG TO MAKE IT MY MISSION TO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE, EVER AGAIN.
