This is an UPDATE: During the First two visits, we were always given the Baklava. For my birthday, during our last visit, we ordered an extra Baklava, to taste what the others are like. Since, our guests didn't care for Baklava, maybe they'd rather have Birthday Cake or Ice Cream, I ended up eating them all, for the rest of the week. Summary: I think, I've had enough Baklava for the rest of the year. I was never fond of them, even though they weren't that sweet, and that's being honest. I like them, not just all the time. read more

We went in on a whim, looking for a good Mediterranean place, and we were pleasantly surprised. This place is delicious! We first got the Mezzanine plate, with Tzatziki, Hummus, Baba Ghanoush, and Tabouli. I loved them all and I have never liked the eggplant dip but the flavors were rich and earthy. The tabouli though, lemony, so lemony and fresh, so so good. I also had the falafel pita, and I suggest it, the falafels are not dry, the pita has fresh veg and great flatbread. The only minor complaint was I did not like their baklava, it was dry, really dry. But I still do not care we will be going back. The place was pretty on the inside, seats were comfortable, and the server was prompt. read more

First time at Moonlight Grill PDX! I did pick up so I can't discuss the service -- only the quality of the food. I liked the falafel gyro. The tahini sauce made the gyro a bit soggy which was a bit disappointing from my perspective. The chicken gyro was a bit. read more

Everything we ordered here was delicious. This restaurant is located about ten minutes from our house, and we have driven by it for a long time without realizing how good it was. I ordered the lamb and beef skewers with salad, and everything was fresh and tasty. My mom ordered the lamb shank, and that was possibly the most fabulous thing any of us ordered. The lamb shank was fall-off-the-bone tender and came with a broth that you dipped it in, which was absolutely scrumptious. My father ordered the two skewers of hummus that sat inside a comically large piece of flatbread, which was equally great. The service was top-notch, and everyone working there was polite and attentive. The restaurant itself was very cozy, and the atmosphere was relaxed. We are delighted to have found a new restaurant with fresh options so close to home. read more

Had a vegetarian combo, and it was delicious. The service was wonderful. And - the most beautiful part of all - I somehow left my wallet behind when I left, and they got it back to me the same day! Very kind and thoughtful. read more

I gotta stop ordering beef shawarma. Someone stop me the next time I try. I'm never going to learn. The shawarma was very flavorful but almost too flavorful. It ended up a little dry too. I probably should have gone for chicken. I really wanted to try the hummus and the combo with the hummus and Iraqi bread just seemed like the right choice. Kind of like a sandwich you put together yourself. Price gets a little carried away when you consider what a sandwich would cost. But I guess I get the hummus and more bread. Bread was fresh and soft and chewy. Definitely a highlight. Hummus was very smooth. All of the parts were really Delicious. Very friendly service and a clean space. read more

Very friendly with a relaxed vibe. A gentleman I assume is the owner greeted us warmly from the register upon entering. While we were there, customers arrived about every ten minutes mostly for takeout. That's always a good sign! Everything is served promptly and professionally. Even our waters were delivered to us on a tray. The food was very good. Everything is served on heavy ceramics and presented artfully. I ordered the veggie combo because I was starved after 9 miles of paddling around the Willamette. I judge Mediterranean food by the quality of the hummus. Moonlight's was a nice consistency, not watered down, hearty. I would have preferred more of a garlic hit but I say that about just every hummus I encounter! The baba ghanoush was fantastic, slightly tangy and perfect blend of spices. The absolute stars of the plate were the falafels. i am sure they are the best I have ever eaten. Moist with good flavor inside and a pleasant crunch on the outside. Not at all greasy or tough! Easy to cut with my fork. Dipped in the baba ghanoush --- heaven! Portions are quite generous and the prices are reasonable! I took home at least half of my dips. My plate was around $14. I pay $20 for a similar plate elsewhere. My husband said his chicken was good but nothing to write home about. It looked good! I told the chef how much I enjoyed the falafel. She beamed. This is a tiny place where the food is tasty and the staff take care of you with pride. Those two things right there is what I look for in a meal --- whether at a 10-table or 50-table establishment. Without them, you are wasting your money. You are spending wisely at Moonlight! read more

Great food, service and ambiance! I tried the sampler and it was amazing! Owner was really helpful in suggesting entries to try!

Everything is so delicious!! We loved our falafel sandwiches and mezza plate we just had for our first dining in experience. (Covid had delayed our being able to since they opened in the midst of it.) The falafel is super flavorful dense but light and we swooned over the baba ganoush. To top it off the homemade bakalva with pistachios was divine. The owner is wonderful, warm and generous. read more

Really great. Delicious food. And presented nicely. Well go back!! I hope more people go

Amazing service right from the start. The owner welcomes you with a smile and doesn't rush you on what to order. He will answer any of your questions regarding any dishes. I had the Chicken Kufta with the Baklava as a dessert which I've never tried but gave it a try and was actually tasty. Would order more in the future. Food is full of flavor and is authentic. Location is a great spot easy to find since it's near the main road. Inside the restaurant there is plenty of seating areas for larger groups. Down to earth kind of place I would say. Food tasted good, but I got very sick getting takeout food, which was consumed within five minutes of picking it up. Food poisoning. It's been several months and I didn't go back. I tried to call a few days later, but no one would answer the phone. I was there about an hour before they closed and wondered if they just hadn't changed things out to be fresh. It's really sad because I love Middle Eastern food and frequently go over the river to the east side and thought how nice to have something that sounded good closer to home. read more

We decided to try this local place, and I am so pleased with it. We tried the combo plate, and the burger. The burger had so much flavor and was grilled perfectly. Their wedges were super crunchy and flavorful. 5/5 The combo platter was insanely big. And SO delicious! It comes with chicken and beef shawarma. Along with a lamb and chicken kabob, rice AND a cucumber salad. All for $25 which is such a good price. It's a small place that seems to just be getting their feet under them, but they make everything fresh to order. From the time we ordered to getting our food, it took maybe 20 minutes. Not bad at all. Highly recommend! read more

I've had a lot of chicken shawarma's over the years and this one's up there. Little different than most I've had. A little more kick in spice. Melts in your mouth pretty legit. I'd definitely eat another if I'm ever around again. Hard place to turn into though during traffic. Only one other person here at noon so I hope it lasts. Worth it for what I got. read more

Super convinient. Very friendly. Great assortment of flavors and dishes. And, best of all - a neighborhood small business. Everything adds up to a five-star rating. Staff are super friendly and accommodating. Made a Yelp web order and it was ready for pick-up in less than 20 minutes. Also, they made sure I was super satisfied withg the order and made sure to ask me. Nice customer service touch! Given their "off the beaten track" location in Burlingame - I think we can qualify Moonlight Grill as a "hidden gem" of a place. So worth a visit! read more

We had lunch there on a Tuesday. Lots to choose from on the menu, delicious food for carnivores and vegetarians alike, no problem with minor customizations to our orders, friendly service. Our food arrived quickly, with generous portion sizes. I had the veggie combo and my friend had the gyro. Both were tasty -- GREAT hummus -- and with two huge drinks our bill came to $26 before the tip. Nice to have such a great restaurant option in an area without many choices. Plenty of parking. Looking forward to visiting their Tigard location, too. We'll be back. Thanks! read more

This is my favorite Middle East restaurant in town. The plates are delicious, the servings are large, and the staff is very friendly. Excellent flavors and a mellow environment. read more

GOOD FOOD! Probably the best Mediterranean restaurant we've eaten at in the Portland metro. Way better than the Tigard location. The owner explained the menu since it was our first time there and offered new items for us to try like the lamb shanks. Husband and I got the Kabab Plate & Egyptian Lamb Shank. The kabab was flavorful, but the lamb shank was a whole other level. It was so juicy and tender. For $25 the amount of meat in it would be enough for 3 servings. It came with tomato sauce on top of the rice with crispy bits. We will definitely be back! read more

Amazing experience. Great staff. Excellent food, the gyro, combo platter (although the schwarma was dry) and hummus were amazing. Owner was wonderful, service was amazing. Will 100% return! read more

We got the combo platter with lamb, chicken kabob, chicken shwarma, and beef along with a separate lamb gyro. The star of the show was easily the lamb gyro- the flavor and texture of the meat was perfect and the tatziki was soooo good. They were very very generous with their portioning of lamb and if I hadnt shared it theres no way I couldve finished it on my own. The combo platter was MASSIVE, we have a ton of leftover meat that could go well in sandwiches, burritos, salads, etc throughout the week, so thats a win! Servings were huge and the rice that came on the side was also a large serving that had really good flavor. Chicken and beef were a little dry but easily solved with a little tatziki. Great addition to the area and excited to come back! read more

after a long day indoors with a friend, I wanted something other than airport food at PDX.... before getting on the freeway, I followed a sign to Lewis & Clark and happened upon one of the MOST DELICIOUS meals ever! I will definitely return when back in the area.... don't miss this!! read more

The food is very fresh and good. The wait staff is nice. I appreciate them making use of this oft-turned over location at a busy corner. It would be nice if they didn't have so many pictures and signs in the windows, and just kept them clear instead, but they are part of a 2-restaurant chain so that appears to be their motif. My only complaint would be that they are currently using plastic cups and utensils (though they do use ceramic plates). The "silverware" even comes in a little plastic wrapper, so you get a spoon even if you don't need it. Portland has always been more environmentally sensitive than most other cities; it would be great if this restaurant got with that program rather than adding to the landfill. Moreover, it's tough to cut meat with a plastic knife and fork! read more

Delicious, generous servings of family-owned Mediterranean comfort food. Lovely service. Super happy it's near Lewis & Clark College campus.

Initially I thought this place could do better if it improved the decor a bit because it seemed the food that we ordered was pretty good; hummus, baba ganoush, pita, etc., however both of us started to have stomach problems later that day. Not sure it the two are related, but seems highly probable. read more
