Stepping into this salon I was greeted by a reception desk and two or three beautiful live plants,…read moreadorning the front window. I made an appointment for 11am, with the expectation that I'd be here for the majority of my afternoon. I showed Candy a picture of what I was looking for and then explained to her how I thought she should do it. Having natural curly hair, salon visits can always be a little nerve wracking when trying something new. Candy explained a different process and how it would achieve a better result. She was right. I now have more depth in my color which is exactly what I wanted. In addition to the color, Candy also did a blowout. I did this solely to view the color. The establishment was completely full when I arrived at 11am, and I ended up leaving around 3pm. If you ask me, that's reasonable. I recommend this business.

But after washing my hair to revert it to my regular 4c curls, i noticed that my hair became extremely stringy and really easy to manipulate all of a sudden. My hair is really sensitive so of course it starts cutting out and falling out because of the products. for my fellow black woman, do NOT go to this salon if you want to keep your natural curly hair. most of us know very well that dominican salons will sneak relaxer into their products

I watched her work flawlessly with different hair textures (including my own Asian hair) and create different hairstyles for many clients while I was at Taj to get my hair done. Wendy was kind enough to take me in as a walk-in on a busy Saturday, and this was after explaining over the phone at length the different options I had regarding the look I was going for. Wendy created a fantastic new look for me (I opted for sew-in skip tracks in a long bob) and EVERYONE has given me compliment after compliment on the new 'do. My hair still looks fantastic and I can't say enough about Wendy's work. I highly recommend Wendy and her awesome crew at Taj for any hair service you might need!

Came here to get my hair done a few months ago, one of my biggest lapses in judgement. I went in…read morefor a weave and came out looking like a hot mess with a rats nest in my head. I suppose this is my own fault for ignoring my instincts the moment I saw the stylist (Maria) and her general lack of professional appearance. The ridiculous eyelashes and ridiculous hair should have been a tip off, but I went against my better judgement. To start with, the "beauty salon" if you could really call it that, is inside this jail cell looking building, not exactly aesthetically pleasing to a new client. Upon entering there are two doors, one to another persons business's and one for Taj. Let's be clear here, there is NO indication for which is which AND the door is locked...great for business? I finally get in, there is already a person being serviced, which is fine, whatever, when I finally get into the chair, she begins I relax my hair... What's wrong with this... I was specifically told to wash my hair before the appointment, which is exactly not what your supposed to do before a relaxer. The rest of the appointment is painful and I'm not taking physically. After sitting in that disgusting salon for four hours, I was able to get a nice look around and what I saw was just plain nasty. Lots and lots of hair, just around, on the floor every where, like he shop had never seen a broom! Also I noticed dirt and grime buildup along the sinks and by the styling tables. Gross. Concluding the appointment, come the unveiling to the worst hair weave I have seen in a long time, it obviously looked like a weave, and a bad one at that. The way I would and my friends would describe it as would be, it looked like a hair helmet. Awful. On top of that, it was my birthday and I had to go out looking like that. It was so awful I took it out MYSELF that very night. This was an incredibly disappointing salon visit, especially since I had heard great things from this owner Wendy, about her stylist and her "undetectable" weaves, of that's true, then anyone who goes here, be prepared to consider yourself a victim of fraud. Not only was Maria's work shoddy, but she was not exactly personable, I felt that I was inconveniencing her. Just rude. After all was said and done, I still tipped twenty percent. Moral of the story, don't waste your money to become victim to unprofessionalism and bad styling, pay a little more and go to NY, clearly the only place to get your hair done properly.
