I would give this place zero stars if I could. We came here as a family of four, excited to buy plants and teach our kids how to grow something together--specifically a banana plant. This was meant to be a learning moment for them. Instead, we were embarrassed the moment we walked in. A staff member asked what we were looking for, and when my husband said "banana plant," he laughed at us. He even told another worker, and they both laughed like it was a joke. Our kids were standing right there and witnessed everything. It completely ruined the experience. As parents, we were trying to teach our children about gardening, curiosity, and learning new things. Instead, they saw adults mocking others for asking a simple question. A respectful explanation would have been more than enough, but we received zero professionalism and zero kindness. This place does not create a welcoming or supportive environment, especially for families or beginners. We left feeling disrespected and disappointed. If you value being treated with basic respect, I recommend going somewhere else. read more

I had a poor experience with their tree maintenance service. They have outsourced this from their local nurseries. You cannot contact them. Their local stores cannot contact them. They scheduled my service - but not when i wanted them to come so i could be there, but when they wanted to show up. The service window is 10 hours wide: 7 am to 5 pm, which is never tolerable to a customer. They texted me they were on their way- from a number i can't reply to. They did not document what they performed - no text, no email. Nothing. Had to search online to reach their corporate offices. Their website says they value customer service. They do not appear to want the hear or have contact with their customers. read more

Poor service after initial installation. Many escalations to management did not get anywhere. Customer services took the calls but never any follow-ups. Eric at Moon Nursery really helped us out! We had a 30-foot, water-thirsty tree in our front yard that was causing problems and needed to be replaced with something that could handle the desert and meet HOA standards. Eric was familiar with our HOA and suggested that we replace the tree with a Desert Willow. He took care of arranging the removal of the old tree and planting the new one. He finally found 2 perfect ones at the Centennial location which he had transferred to Charleston location. He had both skinned for us and they look AMAZING! We have been working with Kevin at the west charleston moon valley to design our yard for the past 6 months. Kevin was really helpful in designing our landscaping and we went back and fourth about ideas and took alot of different factors into account like our shade and privacy goals. I walked in looking for "Birds of Paradise." Kevin greeted me immediately and explained there were two different sizes to choose from. He showed me both. I said I needed to call my wife to discuss. He handed me his card and said, "No worries, hit me up if she has any questions." I messaged him later that night, asking a couple of questions about getting them home. He suggested U-Haul for $19. I said I'd see him Monday morning, rented the truck, and went there. Kevin was sitting with his manager, and they gave me a great deal on three of the plants. I like the location. It used to be a different nursery with birds and tortoise habitat prior to Moon Valley. The birds and tortoise are no longer here. It's a nice place to walk around and browse. There is a nice selection of plants. I get the impression that their priority is to get customers to contract landscaping jobs with them (large purchases) versus just sell plants to the public. There are a limited supply of vegetable starters located at the entrance. There is a humidity controlled plant room to the left of the entrance. Soils and ammendments to the right of the entrance. Customer service has been helpful and personable each time I've visited. read more

Houghton Peterson drove us around on a golf cart and was knowledgeable on every tree and shrub in the acres of choices. He politely followed up immediately on every phone call. Rafael and his planting team were the best as well as the removal team of the the old shrubs. Everyone worked very hard. All around great experience. Deserves more than a 5-star rating. read more

The setup is very beautiful but would NOT RECOMMEND. If you enjoy doing things yourself to follow up multiple times for weeks to ensure the staff can get the job done, then this is the place for you. Don't forget you'll have to call and call and call since they won't call you even though multiple staff and managers state they would. Very sales forward. If you're trying to purchase something, of course you will be catered to. But what happens when you already made purchases and the warranty & you're trying to get a replacement since it died? Be prepared to call, and call and you guessed it, call again to MAYBE get something done. I've had one replacement done and the second is pending. The first time I called, the gentleman rebuttled my request stating I need to give things more time, so I waited the 3 months recommended and called again since the conditions worsened. I was told to come in and pick a replacement and take a photo of the plant. When I came in, I was told now I have to fill out forms and the replacement is upon management approval and they didn't even bother looking at the photo. When I told them I'd like to purchase another plant, guess what? They immediately replaced my plant without the managers approval or form I "needed to fill out." The second time: came in and asked the first staff I saw to help with a plant replacement (I took a photo just in case, too.) I get introduced to a sales person and he tells me they did not receive the shipment yet. Decides to write my request down on his business card and tuck it into somewhere he would remember and to expect a call next week for an update. Two weeks pass, no call. I give them a call and guess what? They already have the shipment delivered, but need to unpack it, was told I would get a call in 15 minutes. I get the call 6 hours later. I go in to mark the plant I want and since the delay the best ones were already taken. Whatever, I just want this over with. Next step was to schedule the planting. The staff there cannot help me due to the new system update they did in December. But I would be getting a call tomorrow since they were the "fake managers." Another week passed no call. I called again and this time I get a manager who reassures me this would be scheduled and the sales person I worked with would give me a call. YUP YOU GUESSED IT, NO CALL. I give them a call 10 minutes before they close since they weren't planning on reaching out and get another manager, this time I complained enough for him to schedule me something on this call. Trust me, if you're read this far and are exhausted, you'll be more exhausted trying to get service from this place. read more

Called them because I had a couple trees in my yard that needed some attention. I also added a bunch of trees/shrubs etc. My total bill was over $16K. To begin, it took longer than expected to get the new trees put in. I was expecting a couple days, but it was longer. After they planted the new trees, I had the irrigation system overhauled. Those folks (irrigation people) wondered why they (Moon Valley) hadn't been more careful with the previous irrigation lines. Some of it could have been salvaged, so their lack of care cost me extra money to to have it replaced. Within a day or so, of planting despite due diligence,, some of the shrubs were not looking good. After numerous calls, I finally got my sales rep to come out and look. Despite some of the shrubs looking pretty crappy, he said they will survive (which means I will have to wait a year or so for them to look okay if they do indeed survive). Despite the reps help with fertilizer, there was still a vital element missing. The original reason I went to Moon Valley was to get help for the trees I already had and were/are looking brown. At that point, 6 weeks after I paid for the service, I still didn't even have a date that they were going to come out. Finally I got one and it was 12/1/25. Considering that I paid on September 13, it's not much to ask to have services rendered in a timely fashion. I was irate. Lo and behold, the following day, I got another message saying they wouldn't be out until 12/19/25! Three months after paying! When I voiced my displeasure, they basically told me to "too bad". I opted to cancel at that point. They told me I couldn't cancel through them, I had to cancel through my rep. After multiple attempts to cancel and get a refund, my rep, Aaron, has completely ghosted me. I spent a small fortune to get my yard looking good. Not only is it a subpar result, they robbed me of the joy my yard brought (and the money I paid for services never rendered). Now all I see when I look at the trees is how I got taken advantage of. Thanks for ruining my sanctuary. $16k and I can't stand to be out there anymore. Shame on you. Once they have your money, you cease to exist. Avoid at all costs. read more
