I want to give a shoutout to Best Hydroponic Supply here in town, one of the most overlooked…read moreresources for anyone serious about plants. Whether it's peppers, herbs, or native plants like I grow, hydroponic stores offer another level of product knowledge and selection. Andrew Johansson and the team there are incredibly helpful and take the science of growing far beyond what most casual hobbyists ever get into. I was looking for a very specific type of 5-gallon nursery pot--not the flimsy blow-molded kind that warp or crack after a season, but heavy-duty injection molded pots built to last. I knew exactly what I needed, and Andrew offered to special order the Gro Pro Premium line. They're thick, rigid, have a wide rim with a grip lip, and are made in the USA. I've ended up with 50 of these pots over time because they're just that much better than the cheap stuff. If anyone needs nutrients, supplements, soil amendments, grow lights, propagation trays, or high-quality nursery pots, skip the big box store and check out a local hydro shop. Even with special orders like mine, there were no extra freight charges and pickup was easy. Best Hydroponics is right by where Texas Station Casino used to be, for anyone nearby. And if anyone stops by, let them know you found them through the Facebook gardening groups. It's always good to show the local community is paying attention.

Before they were delivered, we went back several times to look at our trees to make sure they weren't too large for our yard. Our original salesman was no longer working there, and that's when we met Houghton, who just happened to be around. We explained our concerns about the size of the trees, giving him the measurements of our yard space. He confirmed that they would fit. I was still anxious but went with his expertise. Once we got home, Houghton called us and asked if we would like him to come over and check out the yard personally. (I had thought about asking him but felt foolish. He knew I still had doubts). He came to our home and confirmed that they would fit perfectly. The trees were just delivered and planted. (Side note... the trees delivered were the wrong ones. One call to Houghton (it was his day off), and within no time, we had the correct ones delivered.) I cannot say enough about Houghton. He wasn't even the salesman we purchased the trees from, but his customer service, professionalism and personal concern for our perfect experience, went above and beyond! They had a nice garden area that inspired us to also get mulch, we had only planned on getting soil. Once we build the other garden beds, we'll be back for more!
