We had Moon Valley put in landscaping at our new house early last year - it was a few trees, shrubs and flowering plants. The experience of getting design help through planting was great. Even the periodic maintenance was decent. Part of this is that we have a warranty on any plants that didn't take, so when they called me to see if I want to renew my warranty after it expired, I said no. But I'd like some of these plants that have not taken to be replaced. The person on the phone said they would replace them for free if we contacted their office and sent photos. My wife contacted them and they were initially mean asking why we didnt renew our warranty period and that this person would talk to the manager and get back to us if they can replace the plants. She was attentive and very helpful and her vision was perfect. Her manager, Chad was also super helpful and went out of his way to make sure that everything worked out to our liking. Excellent little hidden gem in Chino. I never even knew it was there. Raymond was extremely helpful and gracious. Very knowledgeable as well. We went in for one particular tree and left with a completely different one based on Raymond's knowledge and expertise as far as our needs were concerned and the area that we live in. I purchased two trees and had them delivered and planted. During the planting a sprinkler pipe broke. Their whole crew spent the next three hours digging and cutting big roots to repair it. It has been 3 months that this plant has been in the ground. I am giving an update that it has been growing extremely well, we have been fertilizing it. It is currently growing flowers very well. I am sure next season it will be covered in flowers. These flowers are very beautiful but I wish I did some homework on them as I found the flowers only last 2 days then they die off. I can see how this will be messy as they fill in more. I wish they lasted more than two days but we love the way they look when they bloom. read more

Here's why: When my beloved dog Murphy was terminally ill and about to be put to sleep, I decided to bury him in my front yard and plant a beautiful orange tree over him. Tree of life / circle of life kinda thing, I thought it was beautiful. On the last day of his life, I drove Murphy to Moon Valley Nurseries to pick out the tree and arrived just around closing time,  a little scared I was too late and I wouldn't be able get my tree on time. When the friendly associate greeted me at my car with "Hi! Welcome to Moon Valley Nursery, what brings you here today?", I was so stricken with grief that I could barely get a word out of my mouth without bursting into tears. The guy immediately empathized, we started walking towards the orange trees and when he saw that my dog had a hard time walking, he ran back to get his golf cart for us. He took all of his time to show me all the options and patiently waited while I took some last pictures of my boy and picked a beautiful tree that I thought was perfect. We loaded it up into my car and when I wanted to go inside to pay, the guy came back to me and said: I talked to my manager and told him about your dog and why you're getting this tree, and um... this tree is on us. "Are you serious?" "Yeah man, our customers are like family, so when you come through those doors, you're family. And we're so sorry for your loss." I just cried and hugged him. He didn't have to do that. And on top of that, the manager was like: give him a big bag of mulch and a gallon of moon juice fertilizer too to make sure that this tree does well. I was just literally speechless. They not only made a deeply sad moment a little more beautiful and a little less sad, they just showed their humanity to another person that was hurting and I am forever grateful. I gave my dog the nicest sendoff I could imagine, and happy to say that 6 months later, the oranges are growing just like they said they would. And I will be a loyal customer for the rest of my days. Made a phone call to inquire about a Redbud tree. Erica helped me over the phone and explained what they had available and invited us to come tour the place. When we arrrived she warmly greeted us and escorted us around in a golf cart. The huge garden is filled with beautiful various trees and plants. Erica has a wealth of knowledge and helped us with all our questions and concerns with maintaining and cultivating a tree. I don't have a green thumb so the process can be intimidating. She offered to help us with their team of experts for a reasonable fee. We were so thrilled with the experience, we left buying not only the Redbud tree but a Palo Verde tree as well. We went to check out a redbud flamethrower that we saw at Home Depot. Not only did they advise us on another type of redbud tree that would do better in this climate but they gave us advice on another type of tree we have. They took us out on a cart so we wouldn't have to walk and once we decided to purchase the tree, they were extremely helpful with getting us prepared (shrub and existing tree removal). A very money-oriented, incompetent team. I paid $1,500.00 for a grapefruit tree. I asked for "big", meaning standard, and they sold me a dwarf, but that's a minor issue in the scheme of things. Their truck arrived, with 4 or 5 workmen and a tree laying in its side with the root ball destroyed. They promised me that it was fine, and at the time I knew little about citrus, so I said ok. I now know that, in order for the tree to stand upright with no root ball, they planted it 6-7" too deep. So deep, that the graft between the trunk and the root-stalk was 2-3" underground. I finally figured this out after a long time of no growth - on my own, with no help from the MV people who play with social media instead of learning the trade. Moon Valley gave me another little tree to fix the issue, but planted that one wrong so it also failed. Since that time, they promise something, and then promptly hide. I have talked to landscapers and Nursury professionals, and they all have the same thing to say about MV - good promoters and mass-mailers, but not tree people. read more

My husband and I were looking for fruit trees to plant in our backyard and don't have a lot of knowledge about them or even exactly what we wanted. We called around and found Moon Valley. From the 1st phone call the customer service guy as excellent. The girl who answered was very helpful and friendly. When we got there she saw us and asked "are you the ones looking for fruit trees?" We were happy that she immediately acknowledged us and had one of their experts help us to pick out trees. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. They have a HUGE selection of all kinds of trees. We ended up also getting a palm tree. In total we purchased 3 fruit trees and a palm. They loaded them into our truck very carefully and gave us bags of mulch. I had an incredible experience with Harley at Moon Valley Nursery who assisted me in the selection of a meyer lemon tree and lime tree as well. Gary delivered them right on time and also moved them inro my back yard which I appreciated. A couple of days later Harley dropped off the products needed to plant the trees. This review is in two part. The product, the selection and the delivery / installation crew are top notch and I would this aspect of the business 5 stars. This problem comes in when dealing with the sales people at the individual locations, Everyone agrees that your going to pay a lot more for a plant or tree here compared to other nursery's, Armstrong's and the Home Depot. A 15 gallon Pygmy palm which would cost $59 at Home Depot cost me $240 at Moon Valley nurseries in Chino. The salesman did everything he could to quickly develop a relationship and keeps reassuring me that he liked me and was going to give me a deal. Okay, I can move past that, but what I didn't appreciate was the revolving pricing, I could never get a straight answer in how much something cost. First the Palm was $220 planted then it was $499 then it was $240. Then he told me delivery would be $199. Not happy with the overall price I went ahead and signed on the dotted line. My heath condition prevents me from doing things I use to be able to myself and this is the price you pay for getting old. When I got home and googled Moon Valley Nursery shipping and delivery charges the website said it was only $149. (Photo attached) Now you would think it would be pretty straight forward to call and ask for an adjustment, I called the store and left a message for The store Mgr to call me back on Tuesday. On Friday after they delivered the Palm I still hadn't heard back so I called the corporate offices in Phoenix and spoke to Richard in customer service. Richard was polite but was not even empathetic and said that different stores have different prices listed on the website. Well that's all fine and dandy however you try looking on the individual store website you'll see if they don't list the delivery charges... I guess the lesson here is to do your research independently and not to trust a salesman to give you the correct answer read more
