Had never tried these before. Becoming a fan of Palestinian cuisine!!…read more I was at this Palestian bakery in Hickory Hills ( Oasis Bakery) where I typically buy bread and some other middle eastern stuff. This time I saw they had what I thought was pancakes, piled high packaged on to-go plates. The younger owner was nearby so I asked about them and he told me that were not pancakes and they had to be prepared a certain way, that they are called Kataaef and are eaten only during Ramzan. So I said ok I'll get a package and have it for my iftaari. And to my surprise his response was that he was going to show me how to prepare them and that these were a present for me. He went in the back and brought some gloves and an aluminium tray. He separated each pancake into two and in the centre of each round half he put a spoonful of ground walnut mixture ( which they were selling separately) then folded the pancake and pinched the sides. He prepared and placed all ten "pancakes" in the tray and told me that before eating I should pour melted butter on them; then bake for 5 or 6 min and then drizzle honey on them as soon they come out of the oven. So the pic on the right has the butter and honey. They were better than any pancake; soft pillowy treats with a sweet slightly crunchy walnut filling. So kind of him to do this for me and then not even charge me even thought I insisted. Thank you again Oasis Bakery. It's a wonderful store with lots of interesting things and baked goods. This was beyond customer service; this is hospitality.

I ordered the Long Time Ricebox with Fried Egg because, well, this is how I grew up eating longanisa, minus the pickled veggies and cilantro. I have to say that I adding the pickled veggies and cilantro to the sweet longanisa was very tasty. Even the presentation was very nicely done. I did go back to order the Sloppy Thai Ricebox for dinner, but they ran out of the riceboxes! It's ok, because I will be back to order for lunch and dinner!

The bread was crispy, the veggies were good but the overall flavor was ruined by the fact that I had a fishy aftertaste. The service was fast. The breakfast included pancakes which were deliciously spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg. They were fluffy too and not heavy like vegan pancakes can often be when someone who doesn't cook vegan well is the chef but these were definitely some good vegan pancakes. Tofu scramble, potatoes, a crispy seitan breakfast sausage, and broccoli were the main plate. Everything had a good amount of spices and flavor. I usually don't like too much salt and the breakfast sausage was a bit salty but with the charred outside and meaty center the saltiness worked well. The tofu scramble, potatoes, and broccoli were well seasoned too. The portions were big but I would have liked a little more tofu for my preference. We also got juice and peach cobbler from the cooler. The ginger lemonade was our favorite. We will definitely eat here again!

I ordered a Patriot & a Ragin Cajun, which I've ordered regularly in the past. Today there was an Indian girl making the sandwiches and well, these were the two worst sandwiches I've ever gotten there. First off, the bread for both sandwiches was stale. Secondly, there was SO much mayonnaise on both sandwiches it was ridiculous! It was impossible to eat. And the mayonnaise tasted weird. It definitely wasn't Helmans. There was a decent amount of lunchmeat, but both were a sloppy mess. Seriously, how can anyone mess up a sandwich that bad? I ate half of a half and threw the rest in the garbage, as did my mom. I also got a pound of potato salad, and it was good, but those sandwiches were awful.

They have halal gummies which you can also buy by the pound as much or as little as you'd like (you bag it yourself). They have makhloota (roasted mixed nuts) which are on display. I didn't get to try it but it looked good! Who doesn't love roasted nuts? Overall a clean and nice store. I was only in Chicago for a visit and brought stuff with me to Miami from this store. Wish they had a location by us! Definitely recommend them!

They just opened up another parking lot across the street because the amount of traffic that is in out the small lot they had attached to the store. They do have some great clearance deals on veggies but make sure you check them very well because it maybe better to pay full price if you aren't using that produce that same or next day. I bought some tomatoes for a party and was very happy with the price but the party was 3 days away and by then I was having a funeral for my poor little tomatoes and all their friends because they were molded and seeping juice. It was disgusting! I'm not blaming the store they had it on clearance for a reason. I know many people are a fan of the their meats but I'm not I don't like pork chops, chicken, turkey that is frozen and then I pay for the weight of the ice and my meat. I wish I could find a real meat market but I digress. I also like that sell peppers separately so that I can choose which one I want instead of it being prepackaged. Sometimes it maybe a language barrier with some of the employees, but I haven't found one employee from the parking lot to the cashier who has not been very nice each time I shop here. I will be back! Enjoy!!!
