Wow. In the heart of Mission Bay I would never have expected such bad customer service…read more No, this wasn't just a lack of common etiquette but more an absolute departure from any semblance of customer service. I spoke with a young male who took my order. No problems there. I did ask for tomato sauce as my son can't eat aioli as he has severe egg allergies which I explained. The burger took a while to arrive and I was given aioli for my fries. I took this back inside and swapped it for tomato sauce. For me, I've eaten predominantly at the Pukekohe Burger Fuel. But I also eat at the Ponsonby Burger Fuel. And I've never been disappointed any time I've dined in or taken out. But this vege burger that had arrived was cold. The cheese on the vege pattie hadn't even melted. Yes it was tasty, but so is grass with the right sauce. On the other hand, the fries were great. Hot crispy, perfectly seasoned with salt and not too much. I ate the burger without complaint because I was talking with my family who were having a large meal at the neighbouring eatery, Hook Line and Sinker. When the seafood platters arrived for my family I suffered pangs of food envy. But politely declined their offers for me to partake of their bounteous fare. Having quaffed my burger and fries I wanted something sweet. So I went into Burger Fuel. I walked in and had to wait as another cashier was stamping the Burger Fuel paper bags. She looked at me and continued stamping in no hurry as if I wasn't there. When she felt that she had stamped enough, she passed them over the counter and wandered over to the cash register. After ordering a berry ice cream dessert, I waited outside for 20 mins. When the cashier brought it outside she put the container in the table and dropped two spoons beside it. Having waited this long, I could see that the ice cream had melted and the dessert looked like crap. Again, I thought I'll give it a go. Terrible. Couldn't even finish it. I wouldn't have done this review had it not have been for the combination of bad food and even worse service. If you're after Burger Fuel in Mission Bay, drive to Ponsonby Burger Fuel. It's better. If you're after Ice Cream in Mission Bay. Go to Mõvenpick which is a few doors up from Burger Fuel. Trust me, I'm usually the Baron at Mõvenpick Mission Bay. Your money and your time is certainly wasted at Burger Fuel Mission Bay.

When it comes to hamburgers, it seems only America can do it RIGHT!! Unfortunately, Burger Fuel is…read morenot the best option for hamburgers whatsoever. Being an American and a proud fan of burgers, I am VERY discriminating about how my burgers are served, with what condiments, and the availability of traditional side orders like fries (or "chips" as they're known in the Oceana region of the globe) or onion rings. Burger Fuel instead attempts to serve burgers differently, and this particular branch in Mission Bay has quite an unfriendly and aloof staff. They don't even know what yellow mustard is, a condiment required for me in my burgers, yet they easily get irritated with you if you're attempting to change your burger to what you wish. Once more, even having a very basic burger option is not on their menu; you just have to improvise with ordering, say, their 1/3 Pounder Burger and asking for certain ingredients no be included. Beetroot in a burger - REALLY?!? YUCK!! But the best option I can do is NEVER go to another Burger Fuel again! To me, this chain is an insult to hamburgers, and only makes me yearn that In N Out were located on New Zealand soil!

BurgerFuel Mission Bay - The worst dessert I've had at a burger joint. Plus the ice Cream was melted because it had sat around before it was brought to me!

A little bit too expensive for my liking, but I must admit the burgers here are big. Not too greasy as well, which is a bonus. The staff here was friendly and quick to acknowledge me, and my order didn't take long at all to make, so I will definitely come back in the future. I think next time I'll try one of their kebabs and see if I fare any better.

Here they have both doner kebabs and kebabs on rice (my favourite) as well as charcoal burgers (beef, chicken and vegetarian) and a kids menu. If you choose to dine in Charcoal Burger also have the option to have an alcohol beverage with your meal. This I have never done as I have always taken my meal away, however the number of times I have driven past they have always been busy. There is both street parking and parking behind the store available for customers. It is located in a rather awkward position though. They are on the main road right by the lights, so the entrance is quite hidden beside the store and a set or terrace houses. I think this place is a good quick meal option if you're in the area, however I wouldn't come out of my way to dine at this take out joint.

It's not all in the looks. So true for this place! After reading a few good reviews about Meadow I…read morewas anxious to go out of my way (literally) to check it out. I think I'll need to give them a bit more time to improve on a few things before I do that again. Interior decor - when I say it's not all in the looks it can be literally translated to Meadow. Gorgeous interior sets high expectations for both food and service which, in this case is not what you get. But more about decor - lovely outside area is perfect for afternoon drinks in the sun and the inside area is just beautifully decorated with vibrant blue walls and silver and white details. Very refreshing and promising (the whole industrial minimal look is so 2014!). Staff - considering the rather posh interior and location one would expect slightly higher standard service. We arrived at brunch time so understandably they had a busy patch but I would have expected them to handle it a bit better. Staff was rushing around bumping into our chairs (and each other), dropping cutlery and just overall looked quite disorganized. On the other hand the food came out fast so looks like kitchen staff know what they are doing. At least they did up until the point when thick smoke started oozing from the kitchen... Menu - this is probably the reason why I would love to go back to Meadow once they sort out their service. Menu looks very interesting with a lot of signature dishes and fresh new things to try. Bloody Mary menu looks awesome and innovative (brunch is probably not the time to start your day with vodka or tequila) and their smoothies are divine. Would have loved to have been told the acai bowl would be a bowl of sorbet rather than what one would expect to be a granola or muesli breakfast treat. Food - great quality food with interesting and innovative flavours. There is so much more I'd love to try! Price - Some dishes are rather expensive for the quantity you get but it is to be expected considering the location. On the other hand if the service improves I don't think I would mind paying a bit more for any of the dishes on the menu. All in all I believe Meadow definitely has potential to become one of the top cafes in Auckland with it's beautiful character and well thought through menu. But in order to do so they need to give this place a soul - and that can only be achieved by unique, high standard service and friendly approach.

Will our food be delayed and, instead, get served up apologies? Me of little faith. My last visit proved my doubts wrong. On a whim, we just decided on Meadow, because it was on the way. It was busy as expected. After a few long minutes of waiting for a table to be cleared, the rest of the service moved quickly and smoothly. My wife had the Meadow Full breakfast, which seemed to be the most popular dish that morning. Really yummy, she said. I had the Huevos Sucios ("You pronounce that very well," the waitress said) and it was top notch. My kind of spicy the morning. We'll be back, of course. Next time, I should just trust them to continue their great service.
