I wanted to get my car inspected for my insurance and it took them 3 weeks to get it done as they were always messing things up. I spoke to Arnel and told me the crack in my windshield will be fine but when I went there they told me to get it fixed. After I fixed my windshield they told me to come back by Saturday at 9am to do the inspection but the mechanic wasn't there. For the third time that I went back to this shop, they did not inspect my car. The mechanic just signed the paper without taking a look of my car and filled in the paper WRONG. So I went back the same day to get it done and explained to the owner the mistakes and I wrote down one by one what needs to get done properly. Unfortunately, the mechanic wasn't there anymore so I have to go back the next day which will be the 5th time. I went back the next morning and the paper wasn't even filled in properly that I have to tell them where they screwed up AGAIN. The owners of this shop are not professional and they are incompetent. I do not recommend this car shop and don't waste your time and money in this place. They will also blame you for their mistakes.

I've been detailing my vehicles myself for years, but with a busier work/life schedule it's been harder to do on a regular basis, so this time around I sought out a professional detailer. I came across a lot of detailers with a long list of positive reviews and a solid reputation, but their services were priced a bit more than I could justify over just doing it myself again. Then finally I came across "The Wax Shop" on a car forum I sometimes visit. There were only a handful of reviews I found on the internet, but they were all positive. What really attracted me was how affordable their services were compared to other professional detailers, almost seemed too good to be true. So I booked my appointment expecting just a reasonable job given the lower prices. They were able to book me in just a couple days after my call, they're located in the NE just off Barlow and Memorial, a very doable walk to/from the LRT so this worked well for me. The owner was very nice, so first impression was good! Upon picking up the car it was ready on time as promised. I was very impressed with the job they did, it was definitely above what I expected and great value! It looked as good as new, some parts even better than when I bought it lol. They even went as far to do a couple bonus items for me just because they felt like it was necessary given the state I had let the interior degrade to. The last time I had it detailed(at a different shop) they did a terrible job with the spray wax leaving a white film in numerous places all over the car which ended up looking almost like body damage. I brought it here as they are rated #1 on here and have very affordable prices, but when they returned my car to me, the exterior was still atrociously dirty. They then tried to divert by telling me how good of a job they did on the interior, which in my honest opinion needed to be vacuumed and it would have been fine. I drive this car maybe 5000km/year and only in the summer so it's not like it was that bad to begin with. After doing a walk around the car I asked the cleaner how they clean it? with a pressure washer or how so. He responded by telling me that they take the time to hand wash every inch of it, spray it down, and then spray it with wax to get it to dry nicely. I began to walk around the car and rub off the scuffs and wax that were on it before I brought it in, and told him I was really not impressed. He then went around with his towel and hit as many spots as he could before he told me that was as good as it gets. I asked the guy if they were able to bend their knees in the shop, as everything on the bottom foot or so of the car was completely untouched. The car took 2.5 hours or so to clean and the package I purchased had an estimated time of 3.5-5.5 hours, to me it felt like they just rushed it out and didn't really care to do a good job. The window trimming was also stained before bringing it in from the other detailing, and I asked if they could get it clean, to which I was told it was ruined and couldn't be recovered. 15 minutes at home with a magic eraser and it was spotless. After being told it was as good as it was going to get, I drove home, grabbed a microfiber glove and the magic eraser and spent about an hour and a half actually getting the car clean, turns out it was in way better shape than I left the shop thinking it was, everything I thought were dings or scuffs came right out with a tiny bit of work. To be quite honest I don't even really know why I paid for the service when I had to go through and redo everything myself, the staff were nice and friendly but that doesn't change the fact that I had to re-detail my car. Just hoping to spread the word and warn people that even if reviews tell you this is the place to go, seems to me that you get what you pay for.

I immediately filed an insurance claim. After receiving an estimate from the insurance company on the 30th I booked a day with Simplicity Car Care Calgary South where I could leave my car for repair. The repair day turned out to be a month later on September 25, as they assured me that they needed time to order the parts. Well, with a damaged car I am waiting for the appointed date and on September 25 I left my car, it was agreed that they will do the repair in 5 days, in the end they did it in 16, because they did not order the parts for the previous month. Not only that they repaired three times longer than the stated time, but they did not repair the side view mirror. There was a crack on the housing, but they assured me that they would replace it within 1-2 weeks. As a result, 20 days have passed since then, they are silent and are not going to repair what they were obliged to do. I do not recommend using the services of this company.

This is a small, family owned auto shop that came recommended to me from a friend of a friend of a friend. The main guy Richard really knows his stuff about cars, and maybe more importantly in the auto business, is very genuine, honest, and focused. No upselling, no phantom problems, no crazy quotes. His prices are beyond reasonable, and he is extremely transparent throughout the whole process. They have convenient appointments and will really work with you to help you fix your problems. One of my cornering lights burned out once, and had I gone to the Mercedes dealership to fix it, it it would have cost me at least a hundred bucks or more. At South Auto, they special ordered the exact bulb, and he installed it for me on the spot. It was a quick thing, he said, so he charged me $15. $8 for the bulb, and $7 for labor. THAT IS UNHEARD OF. I was on the fence about doing my annual service at South Auto because I wondered if that's something that is worth doing at the dealership, but Richard was able to do it for 1/3 of the price, while still using the specified engine oil imported from Germany, etc. I'm sold! It's a small shop, so don't expect anything fancy. No plush leather chairs in the waiting room, no quartz counters with a friendly receptionist, no complimentary snacks, but man are the prices reasonable and the work top quality. The shop is run by folks of Chinese heritage so while there may be the slightest communication challenge, I've found all of them to be fluent in english especially when it came to cars.

Based on a recommendation of this shop from an acquaintance whom has a 1994 Honda Civic (and…read moreapparently races Honda's), I visited their website at http://garageboxauto.com/ which apparently has specials on a variety of services. I then decided to visit the facility with a mutual friend of the previously mentioned acquaintance. There were several Honda's and Acura's parked in front of the facility, of which had apparently gone through various service and modifications such as lights, engines, suspensions, etc. Upon arrival, I noticed is a smaller body shop. I was greeted quickly. I was introduced to Paul Tan whom I began to discuss replacing the suspension on my 4-door 1997 Honda Civic EX which has over 168,000 miles on it (and it keeps going and going and going and going and going). Paul gave me tour of the facility. The facility is very organized and clean, especially for a car repair/body shop type of facility. It is apparent this shop specializes in repair and modifications (based on the cars in the garage and outside). Paul gave me several options to modify not only the engine but the suspension and power options for the car (future cash outlay but you must enjoy the ride). At the time, there was a 2003 Honda Civic in the garage which was being modified to accept an Acura TSX engine (a nice upgrade). I'm jealous! One of the benefits of this facility is that you can bring your own parts or have him order them as many places force you to purchase parts through them which means either exorbitantly over-price parts and/or lower quality. The labour costs is on par with other places I have investigated but I get the sense that Paul actually cares about doing quality work. Even though at the moment, I am getting my suspension replaced (ordered the Eibach Pro-System Plus Kit for my previously mentioned vehicle from tirerack.com in the US), Paul is very helpful on deciding what would the best option(s) for the vehicle explaining a cost versus usage scenario allowing one to make an educated decision. The goal of Paul's effort is for you to enjoy your ride. Picked up the car and it corners like it is on rails... no more flying all over the car around curves, even on ice. When I steer the car, no hesitation and total control! Cannot wait to replace the automatic transmission with a manual and a torqueier engine! Well done!
