We have stayed here several times in past 10 years. Quality has really gone down Appears clean but not vacuumed during our 5 day stay. Breakfast was horrible. Little selection, ran out of food, ran out of cups, person working breakfast room said " I don't know where they are". Front desk guy said, " you'll have to get them from your room": as he sat there on his cell phone. Only made up room once in 5 day when we requested it. The desk clerk has been working the last 3 or 4 times I have been a guest here. She is so kind, very friendly and tonight she really went above and beyond. I have been freezing cold all day today due to the wind and weather outside. After I checked in and got to my room, there was a knock at my door, opened the door and the sweet front desk lady was there with a very nice blanket and says, here thus may help to warm you up abit. Property charged $500 for one night without notifying us. They claimed tile and toilet cracked and that we did it. This is false statement and possibly be a common practice. Fraudulent billing. We notified the local sheriff and our credit cart of this false claim. All others using this hotel need to be aware of the possibility of false and un-negotiated charges. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS DUMP. Today's "hot breakfast" was hot water and packaged oatmeal or make your own waffle. NOTHING ELSE HOT. There were no tea bags. There was no fruit. How this place stays in business is beyond me. read more

Avoid if possible. The breakfast is so bad the hotel should not even offer breakfast. No fruit. Stale and dried bread. The refrigerator items are left out for hours after purchase before putting away. Toilets will sometimes flush. The room was equipped with a plugger. Thank you. Deadbolt does not lock, it doesn't align up. Shampoo is a little no name packet. The hotel and rooms, have a very stale smell. It just feels dirty. No safe in room. Can only get clean towels upon request. Rooms only cleaned upon request. Quoted on price and charged differently. Told it will take weeks for my credit to go through. It's a sad old hotel. read more

There is no hot water and the remote doesn't work, no soap in the shower. Total waste of money

BED BUGS! We stayed November 25,26 in this hotel. After we got home we broke out in bites. I had to do some research to see how long bedbug bites formed. It is different for everyone up to 14 days after the bite. We have never had this happen before. I called the hotel...said they checked the room and nothing and they followed protocol for bedbugs. If you read the bedbug registry, another person had saw a bedbug at this hotel in October of this year. Wish I would have read that before staying. :( read more

breakfast was weak. no sausage or bacon, just eggs and waffles and cereal. no pastries. rooms pretty standard, but mirrors running full wall over beds: strange. there was no lamp; all the lighting was harsh and glaring. our 1st floor window overlooked the parking lot and there was no privacy curtain and the darkening curtain didn't close all the way, letting a lot of morning light in. read more

There are few choices for the traveler in the Gering/Scottsbluff area. There is some new competition across town, but the central Gering location of this ex-Microtel property won us over. Staff are very friendly & proactive. Rooms are comfortable - furniture a bit dated (I had a Barcalounger in my room!) but fine. Flat screen TV was great - rooms have mini-fridge's and coffee makers. Morning breakfast is quite good - scrambled eggs plus other options make it family friendly. Yup, I'd stay again. read more

Stayed here for one night during a summer road trip. The price for a two queen room was $92 including taxes. It looks like it was an old Microtel, with the awkward mirrored headboards that I've seen in others. I'm not sure if the hotel is being converted from a smoking hotel or if the smoke from the smoking wing just permeates the entire building, but if you have allergies or respiratory concerns, you will want to avoid staying here. There is also no elevator. This hotel is nicely located just a couple miles from Scotts Bluff, and across from a decent diner. In addition to the standard hotel breakfast of cereal and bagels, they also offered yogurt, french toast sticks, and bacon, with real dishes, silverware, and cloth napkins. read more

Hands down the best breakfast in any hotel in the area. I also love the staff, homemade cookies when I checked. The room was larger than many I stay in, you can open the windows wide and that I also love. I have tried others but I always come back. Just can't do better !!!! read more

We were fortunate to stay at the Monument Inn during a recent visit to Gering to attend the Miss America homecoming celebration. The staff is amazingly freindly and courteous - whatever you need, they'll get it for you. Late night snacks in the lobby, and delicious breakfast. The rooms are comfortable, clean and well maintained. Unexpectedly, the room didn't have a hairdryer, but they would have provided one at the desk if it had been a necessity. This location was perfect, as we were attending a wedding next door at the civic center. My room had some issues, including dead beetles, broken parts in the shower and rather dark lighting in my room. Even the vending machine didn't work properly... I imagine the place is over-all pretty nice. But I would have liked better for $160 worth. read more

I always stay at the Monument Inn when visiting Gering. The staff is very nice and the breakfast is very good. The only problem that I have had is that the room temperature is difficult to control. It either gets too hot or too cold. I have always enjoyed my stays here though. read more

The customer service was excellent. We planned an event, the general manager made sure there was a greeting and decorations for the group. I particularly enjoyed the room lay out where I could spread and complete projects. The staff were friendly and available. Thank you! read more

Be forewarned, this hotel still allows smoking in some rooms, so if you are very sensitive to smoke, ask for a room far away from the smoking rooms. They seemed to be busier than expected the morning we were there and the breakfast foods were pretty much gone so we went across the street to the Log Cabin Restaurant and Lounge. Room was fine except for the smoke smell invading (and I did have smoke odor in my clothes when I got home.) The bed was fine, it was convenient to have a small refrigerator since we had some food that needed to be kept cool. They also apparently allow dogs, so that may work out well for you if you have a pet. read more

Beds were decent. I had a 4 night stay and it was somewhere along $500 so the pricing was pretty up there. They accommodated for animals which was great. It's a great central location if you're in town for the bluffs. And Gering is an amazing town full of amazing people. read more

Monument Inn & Suites IS as good as it gets....a clean, quiet place to stay with a helpful, friendly staff. Without a doubt...a great "value for the dollar" place in beautiful Western Ne. We have stayed here a few times and have thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Rooms are pleasant and most have been updated just recently. The breakfast area has also been completely redone, very tasteful and comfortable. Plus, the breakfast selections are totally adequate. We have also found the staff to be very helpful and accommodating to our needs, whatever our questions. If you're looking for a nice place to stay in the Gering/Scottsbluff area, try the Monument Inn. I think you'll like it! read more

We had two rooms for three days. One was covered with dust the entire time. The other had an incredibly strong floral odor that could not be abated and kept me awake at night. Neither bathroom was cleaned daily. Got the feeling nothing would change when I talked to desk upon checkout as very little remediation had been done earlier in our stay. No equivalent rooms available to move into so we were stuck. read more

FAMILY FAVORITE! This is the only hotel we'll stay at when in the area. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. We love the convenience of having a small fridge in the room. The Keurig, along with a selection of coffee's, in our room was an unexpected (complimentary!) treat. Staff is friendly and greeted us with fresh popped popcorn when returning to the hotel after our afternoon swim at the local pool (passes at the front desk). We also enjoy the local park across the street which is a great place for a picnic or for the kids to run off some extra energy. Keep up the great work! read more

Unclean, terrible room for the price. After leaving we found out they unlawfully charged our credit card for a cleaning fee. They had no right. We are currently looking to press charges. Honestly? You'd expect better from a small town. DO NOT stay here. Sleep in your car in a WalMart Parking lot if you want a better experience. They entire place smelled like mold and trash, and you want to charge us a fee?!?!? UNBELIEVABLE. TERRIBLE. read more

We stayed here, just to get a change of scenery. We were greeted nicely by the front desk staff. It was the night before my kids birthday, so the surprise was really nice for a change. We brought our food in. They have Kurig coffee makers and coffee in each room, complimentary bottles of water, and small refrigerators. It did just well for us. The beds were so comfortable, that I crashed within minutes. The continental breakfast is a hot breakfast, and they serve from 6am-10am. They have all the coffee you can handle. The continental breakfast also has cold cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit cups, fruit juice, and milk, toast, or bagels. To me, it's a full breakfast bar :^) They give you a receipt under your door, so when you wake up, there it is...that's a nice touch for the early risers. They give you a free cookie at check in as well. They also have a small exercise room. They have a gazebo out back to sit outside if you enjoy fresh air. They have ice and a vending machine. So this would be a great place for anyone! We will be back, thanks for making our stay a pleasant one. read more
