    Store front. Montreal bagels.

Authentic Montréal style bagels in Calgary. Worth the visit. I had the sesame seed bagel as it was the hottest available at the time, would love to try the other flavours next time I'm in town. Note they only accept cash.

My husband and I are only in the area for a short time, and were planning to come here to try some Montreal-style bagels. We got here around lunch time, and they only had rainbow bagels and sesame bagels left. I don't care much for sesame, but we decided to get some just to try. They were handed to us hot and fresh. The bagels are dense and chewy, but soft on the inside with a hint of sweetness. They also smell great! Only 3 stars for poor selection. I wish there could have been more variety, but maybe they are so popular that they just had sold out and weren't making more or something.

Came here to try out their bagels as we've heard it was a fantastic spot to have Montreal bagels. Montreal Bagels is a small little shop that specializes in bagels. I liked how they kept their business simple and focused on making delicious bagels. We had the smoked salmon and the Montreal smoked meats sandwich and it was delicious! There were a fair amount of smoked meats and salmon on the bagel. The smoked meats came with pickles and chips on the side. We would definitely come back again!

If you've never had a real Montreal bagel before, you are seriously missing out on the good things in life. SERIOUSLY. They are the absolutely best, especially when you eat one that's hot, fresh from their glorious wood burning oven. I'm team St. Viateur but Fairmount is also just as good (don't even try to argue about which is better, it's a lost cause). Anyways, I've had a hankering for some Montreal bagels lately and was contemplating ordering them straight from Montreal via the amazing thing we call the Internet. Unfortunately, I couldn't justify paying the hefty shipping fees so I bowed out. Lucky for me, I found out (albeit randomly) that there is a spot in Calgary that sells Montreal bagels, or at least the closest thing you'll find to a Montreal bagel on the west coast of Canada. My sis (bless her) brought us 3 dozen bagels ($9/dozen) - a mixture of sesame, plain and multi grain bagels. Verdict = they are good but not as good as the originals. A bit more chewy, less flavourful - I think it's something in the water in Montreal that just can't be mimicked. Pretty sure that's why they drive 'em to NYC straight from Montreal (for a shop that sells Montreal bagels in NYC). Just ain't the same but it'll do. Cash only!

I am so spoiled to have such a fantastic bagel place close to home! Montreal Bagels isn't much to look at from either the inside or the outside. Outside, it's part of a non-descript plaza. Inside, there is a counter, small fridge with drinks, a couple tables and chairs and the simplest menu you'll ever see. On the menu are the regular offerings: sesame, plain and whole grain bagel. Plain or with butter or cream cheese. At lunch, there are two sandwich options, Montreal smoked meat and smoked salmon. On my most recent visit, some sweet bagels were also available including cinnamon and blueberry. There is no need for a varied menu here because Montreal Bagels has nailed the classic bagel. With the aid of their giant wood fired oven, every day they fresh bake delicious soft (with a crunchy exterior) bagels that are far superior to those you'll find at the grocery store or average coffee shop. Make sure to come early, before supply runs out!

Best bagel in Calgary! Things to remember: -CASH ONLY -GO EARLY; I love the original but when i go after 6pm, they are gone! O...and my sister and I tried the Smoked meat bagel. The bagel's as good as usual, but we did not like the sauce and the smoked meat was just ok, nothing special.

Plain, sesame, poppy seed and multi-grain bagels

Tucked away in this little corner strip mall in a clean, but spartan shop lies a baker and a wood-burning oven making magic with his incredible and delicious bagels. When you bite into one of these bagels (I chose a poppy seed one with cream cheese), it just screams masterful old-world craftsmanship. The slightly charred and crisp crust (you can definitely taste the wood-burning oven) yields to give way to a slightly chewy, a but fluffy, dense yet still airy interior (it's kind of hard to describe, but it's just otherworldly). I'm not really a big bagel person, but eating this bagel was a near-religious experience. On my next visit to Calgary, I would drive across the city to get these bagels. This place is something special. *Tip: when having one of these bagels buttered or with a schmear of cream cheese, instead of eating the bagel halved and open-face (typical), reassemble the halves together and eat the bagel close-faced. This way you are able to taste the crust more, where the flavor is in good bread. I think most people grow up with mediocre supermarket bagels, and one instinctively wants to maximize the flavor of the spread, since the crust there has no flavor. But when dealing with incredible bagels like these, old habits don't necessarily apply.

Love this place and have never been disappointed. Often the bagels are warm. No BS, just bagels and they are THE BEST.

Customer Service: 4/5 - Servers were polite. Service speed was average. Location: 3/5 - For most people it is a little out of the way. Not too many other shops nearby. Transit close by. Taste: 4/5 - I have only had a few menu items, but they were all very good. The coffee is smooth and strong. Menu: 4/5 - Menu is on the smaller side of average size with not many unique items. Might not please fussy eater. Sustainability: 2/5 - Couldn't find info on ingredient sourcing. No advertised sustainable initiatives. Strengths - Tasty. Weaknesses - Not the best location. Good items to buy: Caramel iced coffee, Cappuccino. Summary: 3.5/5 - Overall, I would recommend stopping by The Bullet Coffee House. They have great tasting caffeinated beverages. Their menu is on the smaller side of average size and may not please a fussy eater. Additionally, their shop is located a little bit out of the way for most people. The one area I think they could improve is by creating some sustainable initiatives. Thank you for taking the time to read my review and I hope it helps you!!
