Reports of the Montgomery Mall's death are greatly exaggerated. Yes, Montgomery Mall has some vacant space. Yes, Simon Properties did just "put it in a chapter" and let the creditors sell it off to a new mall company. And, yes, it's not what it once was during its glory days. But from news reports and comments from friends, I was under the impression that when I stopped by the mall, it would be a ghost town: a veritable trip through the ruins of capitalism past. Instead, I found that it's still a pretty decent mall, and that while it's not in its long-ago glory days, there's at least as much in it now as there's been for quite some time. The mall has all the mall staples, a decent food court, several other attached restaurants. It's getting less traffic than some of the other malls in the area, but if you're looking to do some basic mall shopping and avoid crowds, I think it's just fine. read more

This mall is positively dying. I've been staying in Ambler this past week and it's been 90s plus so I've been going to the malls to get some steps in since it's miserable outside. I've done KOP, Willow Grove, and Montgomery Mall so far. Montgomery Mall is just.... Sad. It was practically empty, dark lit, and just felt like a downer. You can tell a lot of stores have left the mall and the food court is horrific. It has only like 2 options left and they look bad. This poor mall needs someone to put it out of its misery. read more

It had been several years since my last visit to the Montgomery Mall and the situation here is not good. One of its major problems is the location. The mall is on the far outskirts of the Philadelphia Metro area, but it's a further drive then it looks from Interstate 476. Parking isn't an issue with it having more than enough. Montgomery Mall is internally, externally, and store wise bland. For a two-story mall, it has nothing that stands out. The food court has a few stalls left, but several vacant. During my visit, the elevator was out of service along with several escalators. Anchor store shopping is about the only thing still holding on here, as Dick's Sporting Goods, JCPenney, Macy's, Wegmans, and H&M all have locations here. The former Sears remains vacant. Will Montgomery Mall still be here in five years? Probably but who knows what will be left on the inside. You have to seriously consider taking the drive to Willow Grove Park Mall, King of Prussia Mall, or even Lehigh Valley Mall if you are looking to do any mall shopping. read more

When you hear about the declines of malls - look no further than Montgomery Mall. It's truly like walking around the skeleton of what was once a great shopping experience and hangout spot. It honestly is depressing to be here and there really is no need to go to this mall except their few dining destinations. I most often go here to eat and make a quick drop at Aerie! All of the stores are quiet and sad ... the bathrooms are creepy... There are so many empty store fronts and I had heard for years that this was going to be bought and turned into a school but then covid happened and now they're financially in a hard place, so what will happen to the fate of the mall - who knows ? read more

This is the mall closest to my house and my go to for shopping but to say it's seen better days is an understatement of massive proportions. A lot of stores here have closed so it is mainly clothing stores but for that there's a good selection. Likewise the food court has a nice mix and they usually (pre-covid) have nice displays and special in their atriums. It is clean, easy to get to, safe-that can be a big deal and it is also badly empty. The lower level is not so bad but in all honesty the middle of the upper line could be rented out at Halloween as a haunted house. This is something they need to look into if they are going to stay on the map. They can't be blamed for some of the anchor stores like Sears closing when the whole line is failing but there are cases of chains like Clarkes shoes and Hertzberg jewelers who closed stores here and have them open somewhere else in the county that makes you wonder why did they leave THIS mall. If Montgomery Mall is going to survive they need to work this out. read more

How can a mall not have a Game Stop? Aside from my anger about their lack of Game Stop, this mall doesn't offer much. Here's what it offers that's actually worth your time: -Uniqlo (most in the area have closed) -Decent restaurants on the perimeter (such as Grub Burger, Zoe's Kitchen, etc) -A large Wegmans next door Sure, malls are not what they used to be, but I feel like this mall is pointless. There's so few stores here and the ones that are here barely carry anything. The Dick's Sporting Goods on the lower floor never has anything I need in stock. Also there's no options in the food court, so you'll have to stop in one of the aforementioned restaurants I listed. If you need to do serious shopping this mall is not the place to do so. read more

What a sad place! Many closed stores, and a number of the ones that are open are way off the beaten path of what you might expect to see in a mall. Most workers seem shocked to see a customer - some are wearing headphones and singing to themselves. Even the food court - once a bastion of teen gatherings - appears to be a ghost town with a number of the former culinary venues permanently closed. Chick-fil-A was the only recognizable brand in operation. I was never a fan of shopping malls to begin with, and I only went because I needed a pair of pants quickly. But God, how sad and depressing. They really ought to shut it down and redevelop it into some of the more novel uses I've read about for old shopping malls - flexible office space, self-contained memory care communities, youth recreation centers, etc. anything but this! read more

I was in the area and meaning to get some Chick Fil-A, so I decided to stop in for a look. To be fair, it was fairly late at night, near closing time, but it did look pretty sparse. The sign above the door where I entered looked pretty old school, and although the mall itself wasn't in bad condition, it looked dated as well. I've been going to the Montgomery Mall for years, it is the closest mall to where I live. While the Montgomery Mall isn't what it once was while I was growing up, there still is some good aspects to this mall, though it is on the smaller side. I mainly come here for FYE and Hot Topic, though I also enjoy JC Penny's, Sears and Spencers as well. Wegmans and Smokey Bones are great too and are bound to bring in more traffic. There is no shortage of parking and entrances/exits, but for new comers it can get confusing to navigate around. This mall has also been a staple for black friday shopping too, which has become a bit of a yearly tradition. I do agree with the other reviews that say that alot of stores have closed down in the mall. McDonalds in the food court, the Disney Store, Jay Street Video Games, both Gamestops just to name a few. That's about all I can really say that's negative. It's still a decent mall that I enjoy coming to, even if it isn't my favorite mall in the area. read more

Oh dear.. this once gathering place for all ages is dying a sad slow death! Large swaths of stores in the central part of the mall are shuttered, When Gap closes you know the mall is in deep trouble!The entire mall has a eerie hollow feel now! We ate at Smokey Bones which in past experiences was good but this restaurant is suffering quality and energy! mind you with all of us coming out of the Covid nightmare it is totally understandable, but the quality of food is extremely subpar! Decided to beat the heat and walk around the mall today. Big mistake. I guess cause it's not over 100 degrees out they don't need the air conditioning on in the mall? I thought the mall itself was hot but the stores were just oppressive. We decided to leave right away. No one wants to shop while sweating profusely. I felt so bad for all the mall employees. Montgomery Mall is a well-decorated, convenient mall, right on Route 309. This mall is a perfect example of the trend from dank, utilitarian spaces, to more naturally-lit ones. There used to be a spiral ramp in the middle (when I was younger, I would run down it) but now there's just a boring elevator. Anchor stores include JCPenney, Macy's, and Sears. There's a decent selection of smaller stores (there's an H&M with a men's section bigger than King of Prussia Mall's), and if you can't find what you need, there are larger stores a short drive away, like Best Buy across the street. Hungry? There's a typical food court, and assorted eateries scattered throughout. It's not usually crowded, but if you decide to wander to Montgomeryville during the holiday season, you'll be happy to know they have a large parking lot. read more

Yall are seriously a bunch of haters! No, it's not King of Prussia, and it's not even Willow Grove! But this is a decent mall. If you wanna see crap for malls come to Northern Virginia. Like Dave, this is the mall I grew up on. It's changed a lot since my first memories but it's really improved. I still remember when the tiles were dark and brown and there were trees inside the mall. Now it's much brighter and more open. They have a good variety of stores (again, better than it used to be) If there's anything to complain about, most of the stores are on the smaller size, and then in turn hold less merchandise. Although I'm a bit spoiled by living a stone's throw away from the King of Prussia mall, there is only 3-4 stores I go to when in this mall. Plus the crowd that shops/lurks here? Environment: I've been here for almost a decade now and I've never been on Yelp until now. This place used to be booming a few years ago but ever since the climb of online shopping, shops are constantly closing down. They struggle and struggle and replace them with "superior brands" e.g. Banana Republic, Uni-qlo (huge pick-up considering there are very limited amounts of this store throughout the nation). They've made an upward trend in store selection but downward trend in daily attendance. You will only really find people here on the weekends and even then, there is nothing that makes this mall stand out. Worth driving the extra 30 min distance to King of Prussia. Food Court: Not a ton of selection. McDonald's a few other no-named restaurants that don't really do it justice. There is a Chik-Fil-A which is a great option! Unfortunately, this mall feels like it's dying after one business goes out after another. read more

This mall is on the smaller end as far as malls goes but that is what gives it its unique personality. This mall is comfortable and easy to traverse. The food court has the essentials and the cleaning staff is always in the area trying to keep the eating area clean. Make sure you stop by the Ph place or the smoothie shop. They are my favorites. The stores range from the staples like Macy's and JC Penny to places like Champs and Yankee Candle. But there are some quaint stores like the comic book place, the leather clothing store and the chocolate store. Make sure you take your time and relax and don't forget to get a massage at the place across from the children's play area. You won't regret it. read more

We always like coming to the mall. My son enjoys climbing in the play ground and we like the little rides that that have. We really do not do that much shopping but when the weather is bad it gives us something to do. Not as good as being outside but acceptable on days that being outside does not work. read more

This is huge mall. From the pics, I was not sure what to expect but they have two floors and many stores like H&M, american eagle, gap, Ann taylor, loft, Macy's , JC Penney and dick's. I was able to find what I was looking for. The time was early on a Sunday so it was not packed and we didn't eat at the food corner so no comment on that.One thing: we just couldn't locate the restrooms, no signs anywhere!! We found one next to GNC with the help of security, a family restroom. Anyways this was a pleasant mall experience on our way back to NY. read more

This is a pretty average mall. Two floors, decent stores, adequate selection of eateries and a large parking lot I never had trouble finding a spot in. I have came to this mall my whole life and have watched it undergo many changes. Stores come and ago, a few additions have been made in the past few years. One of the worst malls I've ever been to in America. The only mall worse than this one was the one random mall I visited while I was in Tennessee. That mall had a Walmart inside of it. To expand, the stores aren't that great, missing a lot of good stores, and the stores they do have are unkempt and messy and the customer service is wanting. The mall just looks and feels cheap. I don't know what store I'd want to visit here. Not saying it has to have boutique and upscale brands, but geez at least have some decent brands. I don't know what it is, but there's something about a mall infested with teeny boppers that kind of turns me off from shopping there. This mall gets the job done on a good day, but usually - due to the lack of stores and surplus of adolescents - I really just want to get out whether I find what I am looking for or not (which usually I don't.) I do have to give credit for being in a pretty solid location. The plaza across the street has a Toys R Us, Best Buy, Panera, and ::my favorite:: Home Goods. The surrounding area also has a plethora of chain restaurants, for all your cheap faux-authentic cravings. Originally I was going to rate Montgomery Mall 2 stars, but recently some things have been changing round these parts. A new Wegmans and the moving around of a few of my favorite stores to bigger spaces definitely earned this mall an extra star. ALSO: Charley's Cheesesteaks is the best and most underrated stand in the food court. I have to say it here because they aren't on Yelp. That is all! read more

I need to write about how incredible my shopping experience was today at Victoria's Secret. Every single person there was so helpful, kind, sweet, welcoming and genuinely wanted me there. I felt valued and special there. Nya, Lyndsea, Trusha and Kouri were amazing. They were absolutely incredible and made me feel like I was an Angel and a part of the family. I felt so girly, feminine and pretty when I was there. My two favorites though are Amy and Ashley, both managers. They absolutely exceeded expectations and I have never experienced the love, help, kindness and dedication they showed me. I have been working in the service industry for 8 years and counting and they are by far the best I have ever come across not only as managers but as people. They cared about what I had to say and ENSURED I was not only okay but that I was happy. They knew exactly when to approach me, knew exactly what to say and read my body language perfectly. This isn't just "work", they have true talent and made me feel like I was meant to be there. They completely changed my outlook on the standard of customer service and what it should be. A nice 2-story mall with a decent selection of stores throughout. Anchor stores are going to be Macy's, Sears, JC Penny's, Dick's, and Wegmans. Mall is clean and modern and you'll often find mall security patrolling around. Food court is on the upper level and does include both McDonald's and a Chick-Fil-A. Sometime's the King of Prussia mall is just too big and it's nice coming here as it seems much more manageable. read more

Even during the mall glory days, this place was never "the" place to be. The best part about it was that it was near a lot of other stores in the general area (Toys R Us), but the mall itself was lame. Best parts about it were the arcade they used to have (even though Plymouth Meeting beat it handily), and the big spiral ramp they had right in the middle. For some reason my family always went here right before Christmas, and I can't recall why. Today, it is pretty much a pit. All malls are awful now, but an average mall made awful...*shudder*. read more

I needed to look for a new pair of shoes. I decided that Dick's Sporting Goods in the Montgomery Mall would be a good place. I arrived at 5:00 pm and, in short order, found a pair which I would have liked to try on. Even though the store wasn't terribly crowded, there was no sales associate in the shoe area. Still, I pressed the "Need Help?" button. After waiting more than 10 minutes, no one arrived to help. As I have plenty of other choices for footwear, I decided to take my business elsewhere. I'm quite sure I can find good soles who will put the heels at Dick's to shame. read more

Let me say that this is a preemptive four. Right now, Montgomery Mall is a 3 on a good day, a 2 on most other days. But they're getting a Wegman's. I couldn't be more excited to have that coming to the area! I think it was a good choice on the part of this mall to replace a lame department store space with something useful. As far as the mall itself the terms "oldish" and "run-of-the-mill" come to mind. They have all of the basic mall stores you would expect -- Gap, Bath and Body Works, Limited, Macy's, Sears, etc. and your choice of tween-ware type stores. Their food court is fine. In the morning, expect healthy herd of mall walkers -- in the evenings and on the weekends, gaggles of teenagers. If possible, avoid the mall between November 1 and January 15. It is hellish -- the parking lots fill, traffic gets crazy, and people become rather "less than friendly." Any other time, it's a perfectly acceptable mall in which to get your shopping done without the hassle of not being able to find anything because the mall is so huge (like at King of Prussia). read more

My cousin and I had entered Montgomery Mall 15 mins earlier. We walked to the information board with the map on the first floor and were looking through it to decide which stores to visit. One fSecurity worker approached us from behind to the left and asked "is everything alright?". I was very confused about why she had approached me and said "yes, we're just looking at where to go". Then she asked in a very demanding way "what stores do you want to go to?" and closed in to the left of us, after which I said "I don't know,why?" At this moment I saw in my peripheral on my right side another security officer standing to the right of me closing me in between him and the other officer. The first officer then said "oh I'm just trying to help you find your store" and the other officer took another step to the point where he was right beside me, closing me and my cousin in between them and the sign board. I was already uncomfortable with the first officer randomly approaching us and bothering us and now I felt even more uncomfortable and unsafe.. the other officer who closed in on my right side was standing in such an intimidating way that I could not even look at him because he was so close in my personal space. What started as a good time with my family and my cousin walking around the mall suddenly felt unsafe and uncomfortable. She kept pushing the "I'm trying to help you find you're store" lie on me and I kept saying Im not sure. Not to be that guy but I'm pretty sure it's because I'm Brown that they bothered us. read more

This mall has gone downhill and needs a renovation. There are still some great stores in here, though, and the food court has a lot of variety considering the size of it. The area really does need a mall in this location. Depending on traffic, it's 30-45 minutes to drive from Montgomeryville to Willow Grove and longer to get to KOP. I wish some of the nearby stores were IN the mall instead of around it; I sometimes end up making a stressful loop around the area to get every store I need. Good memories here. It's always been a loitering mall. It's fun to come here early and walk around; good exercise when it's raining. The Starbucks opens early so you can get bottled water and coffee. read more

Simon mall does not care about the wellbeing of mall employees or their customers. Governor Tom Wolf put Montgomery county under lockdown and asked all non-essential stores to close due to COVID-19. They are refusing to close or even modify hours to protect employees and customers because they are so money hungry. This virus is airborne and people with autoimmune diseases are at a huge risk. I have not seen any cleaners at the mall despite them saying they are trying to sanitize because of the coronavirus. Do not come here until the risk of coronavirus is alleviated. read more

Based on where I've come from, this mall is decent. Based on where I've been, it's more like an indoor loitering hole than a MALL! I moved to Lansdale about 4 years ago and have seen this place add some nice stores. The anchor stores have their usual offerings and the peripheral stores have renovated and been added nicely. I am super shocked that they would put Bliss Avenue at the biggest intersection in the mall, with full glass windows. I've seen many Mommies and Daddies fielding the "what's that?!?!?!?!" from their young'ns. Kinda funny, to me. Montgomery Mall is clean, located nicely and has an overall nice selection of stores. The food court is pretty decent too. If you have a quick trip or pick up to make, do it here. Just don't plan on spending all day...ever. The tweeners are SO annoying and make me think I'm shopping in the Valley of Cali. Ugh. All in all, it's "Eeh..a mall". read more

Not a great mall honestly. It has a few decent stores, but the place just isn't very lively or buzzing like the mall I grew up frequenting (Freehold Raceway Mall, NJ). It's not a good sign when your best attraction is the Wegman's. I hope holiday shopping here changes my opinion, but I'm not so sure it will. read more
