+ decent food, good tzatziki sauce - pricey This Montfort is hidden away in a small business plaza. It's small inside and has about 8 booths and a few other tables. Decor is plain. Waitress and other staff were friendly. We ordered the Hamburger in a pita and Montfort Chicken platter. Most entrees are over $16 here and go up to near $30, not cheap. Food took awhile to be cooked, we had to wait 45 minutes. It was hot when it came out. My hamburger had nice flavour. Fries were dry, salad was fresh. Our pita were a little dry. My friend said the Montfort chicken platter was tasty. I like the tzatziki sauce they have at the table, although one little container for two people is far to little. All in all, a decent meal, just overpriced. read more

I have been going to this restaurant since it has opened. I am considered an expert reviewer on the Zomato site. After seeing the negative review with pictures I was compelled to write on this site. I decided to take my dining group here last night. I dont usually use this site for reviews but i will start writing in it as well as Zomato. One of my fellow members showed the offensive review so i would like to share my experience, The lady in that picture has been serving us for years. She is friendly, efficient, and pleasant . She is one of the most attentive waitresses I have had in our city ( check out my reviews on Zomato and you will see I have visited more restaurants than the top bloggers in this city, so when I say that it should mean something). She comes around a lot asking people if you are pleased with the meal. Tonight one of my dining members did not like his goulash soup and she asked if he would like something else instead. He switched it to the fatoush ( Which i would like on record to being the best fatoush salad in this city.. Hands down!) I was not there the night Jennifer came to the restaurant but I can say this. The diner writing the offensive review complete with pictures must have been pretty nasty or rude to make the wonderful lady that I have known for years to respond like that. If it was like the writer says just a wrong order than I know and have seen many times this woman bend over backwards to make you happy as a diner, I would also like to state emphatically that I have not spoken to the woman in the picture because I would not insult her to even question as to what happened. Now for my actual review of our dinner- Atmosphere- This place is plain and simple. sometimes soft music plays but last night that wasnt the case, The booths are comfortable but the other seating in the restaurant is uncomfortable so I suggest if you can grab a booth. Food- My family usually gets the mixed grill. This is the best if you dont mind sharing your dish. I love everything on it . I think the upgraded one is worth the extra money to include lamb. Last night we didnt order that. The things we did have at the table are the following: We started with - 1) Fatoush salads- everyone agreed this salad is amazing. 2) Goulash soup- My dining friend did not like the flavour. He felt the spices were not traditional goulash tasting ( maybe curry?) When our server found that he did not like it she was HAPPY to exchange it for a salad. ( I would say this was accommodating) 3) french onion soup- I didnt know what it was when it came out because it had cheddar cheese on top. Imagine that! My dining buddy said also instead of bread this place uses pita chips . I guess both dishes are the Mediterranean version that were too different from what we are used to. My buddy felt that the new way was not her preferred way of serving this dish but it wasnt bad. Now everything else had high ratings- 4) lentil soup- this was reported ( and I have had it in the past and I agree) to be absolutely scrumptious. 5) falafel dish- Excellent reviews on this item. They were enjoyed thoroughly with that fantastic garlic sauce the place is famous for. One of my dining mates asked for tahini sauce and this restaurant doesnt usually serve it but she went to the kitchen and had the staff make some up. ( how is that for being accommodating again?) 6) chicken shwarma - awesome 7) Montfort chicken in a pita ( shwarma with onion, green peppers, and pineapple)- absolutely wonderful especially if you put the garlic sauce generously on it, Wow! 8) Kafta on a pita- very good 9) Cheeseburger and hamburger- both reports were favourable although my husband said he would get the kafta next time 10) steak on a pita- My friend loved it but she said she added both sauces ( garlic and the other one they give you ( tomato with onions and spices- a little heat) She said she will be back for take out again very soon . 11) lamb on a pita- so tender and wonderful. This friend accidentaly started eating the chicken shwarma when she found out it was not the lamb. The waitress allowed the chicken shwarma to stay and she brought out another one to replace it. ( not does this woman not sound like she tries to please rather than throw someone out?- This is the lady I have known for years) We did not stay for dessert because we were going to a movie but I can vouch for the baklava. It is very good. I cant say it is the best because I prefer it to have pistachios only (theirs has mixed nuts) but it is good. Service- I have written above so much on this subject. Excellence is all I can come up with Impression- I will continue to be a regular at this restaurant and that nasty review written about this place will not deter me in the least. I would suggest that if you go stick to the Mediterranean dishes because that is what this place excels at. read more

First visit was quite good - though suggest anyone opts for babaghanoush over eggplant salad. Second visit a crushing disappointment - Tahbouleh WAAAY too sour, parsley a dull grey. In a Middle Eastern restaurant?!?! Barely any bulghur. We left more than half uneaten. Lamb shish kebab tough and overdone. Falafel the only decent constant. Second visit miserly with pita bread for 2, compared to the first. Seemed promising initially, but likely will not be back due to lack of consistency in execution. read more

After hiking the Spencer's Adventure, my friends and I decided to hop into this place for some kabob dishes (since it was close to his house). I'll admit: those negative review and pictures made me begin to wonder if we made a poor choice BUT we had an open mind and a great experience at Montfort. Restaurant size: There are a few booths which can seat 4, some tables which can be combined for larger groups, and a corner booth seat which can seat at least 5 (we had this booth!). There's even a front bar. Food quality: After MUCH deliberation, 4 of us ordered the lamb shashlik dish with rice/onion rings, and one pork shashlik dish. The lamb was nicely seasoned and didn't have a game taste at all; perhaps this is due to being part of shashlik style! The onion rings were crispy without being burnt, and did not cost extra. The tzatziki sauce could probably be a bit stronger, but not a real complaint. Service: When we entered the restaurant, we were immediately greeted and offered the large booth by the woman shown in the pictures by a previous poster. We pointed out there was a Reserved sign, but she joked that it was for us -- we appreciated the joke, of course! We were served by 2 other servers, who were both friendly and light-hearted. When arriving with a pork shashlik w/ rice in one hand and a lamb shashlik w/ rice in the other, the server had a big smile and made a comment about how he appreciated we knew our orders (he wasn't the one who helped place the orders, after all). Some may not appreciate these little quips/comments, but we did -- we're all human after all. Final thoughts: It's unfortunate that the previous posters had negative experiences; perhaps their experiences have caused an improvement at Montfort which led to our positive time? Regardless, our group of 5 had a pleasant time and enjoyed our meals and time. I'm not familiar with the area and what Middle Eastern alternatives exist, but I WOULD return here next time I visit my Hamilton friend. read more

I had a lovely lunch with my daughter and ordered kibi to go, but when I got home there was no kibi, just our left overs. I phoned the restaurant and they passed me to a man, who supposedly was the owner. He told me to go back to the restaurant but I explained I couldn't because I live 2.5 hours away and I never go that way - was there just for a game. He told me he could only give back my money if I returned to the restaurant. I suggested an e-transfer, but he refused and asked how would he knew if I was speaking the truth. Why would I call if it wasn't? I will never go back to this restaurant because of the treatment I received, not because of the food - I am a honest person! read more

Great Mediterranean Food! The best place in Ancaster Hamilton area to get Mediterranean. All of the meat dishes are cooked to perfection. Price point is on the higher end for these dishes but on the lower end of what you would pay for a sit down restaurant. Great experience overall! Very friendly staff! A gem of Ancaster for a good meal with friends. read more

Quick, friendly service and delicious falafel. My husband and I were the only people in the restaurant when we were seated, but it quickly filled up with people picking up take-out and eating in. Prices are reasonable, too. Oh, and the people sitting next to us ordered what looked like a pint of wine each, so - I'm getting wine next time! read more

WE HAD TO CALL THE COPS AFTER TRYING TO DINE HERE THIS EVENING! A female waitress at this location was so angry when we complained our order was incorrect (the young server had given us wrong information so we didn't get what we ordered) She told my husband and I to 'Get out, Fu@%ers' & grabbed my arm as she pushed me out the door! With customers watching!! We couldn't BELIEVE it! I got video of it but the officer asked me to delete it after she viewed it so I did. I'd fear for your safety if you choose to eat here. And DO NOT take your children. The vulgar language that came out of her mouth was appalling!! We didn't eat the food as it was t what we ordered so we weren't about to pay for it! This guy Omron has since threatened to call the cops on me through private message if I don't remove this post!! I went to the police station that night, the police did not come to me & if it was a dine & dash as Omron claims surely we would have been forced to make payment when we returned voluntarily to show the officer the video. This is what my experience was at this location & this is what YELP is for! To share experiences. Sorry Omron & fellow owners. You failed to meet the service you claim to provide. Our order was wrong. We were not eating it or paying for it as a result. And that made you lose your minds & shout profanities. That was my experience & I'm sharing it here. read more

There were four of us for lunch. Food was very good and service was excellent. Pita sandwiches had a lot of meat in them. The Kafta dinner was excellent and the Greek salad very good. Baba Ganoush was excellent and so was my soup of the day (Goulash). The only thing I found a bit strange was my Kafta sandwich. This is the first time I have ever had Kafta presented as a hamburger patty - it's usually done on a skewer. However, it was tasty. The entrees are a bit pricey. read more

Honestly not the best Montfort location. Always mess up order on take out and food seems not to be fresh. I don't order anymore. Many other places to order from. Too bad. Normally Montfort is great. Thumbs down at this location. read more

If you're a fan of middle-eastern food, this place is amazing. Due to it's weird location, it's never very busy. So, the service is lightning quick, the seating is comfortable, and the portions are generous. They have a lot of good food to choose from, but among the highlights are chickpea soup, pita with hummus, chicken shwarma on rice, and tabouli. read more

One of the worst dining experiences ever. Have dined here many times but never again. We made a polite complaint regarding the quality of the meal on this occasion and were basically told to take our business elsewhere. No offer to make things right by the manager. Too many other good Mediterranean restaraunts around....will not be back. read more

I love going to Montforts, it is expensive in terms of a shawarma place but the quality is great. I always get the chicken shawarma salad and it is to die for. The house dressing is delicious and I always add the white sauce and onions. Bonus points for having gluten free options! read more

Food is great, unfortunately the waitress will try to DEFRAUD you. Ordered a "bottle" of pop and could clearly see the waitress at the bar pull out a can and pour into cup. Thought it was an innocent mistake, but she then went ahead and charged me for a bottle anyways ... make sure to double check that bill if you're brave enough to dine here. read more

I have been to this location several times and it has always been very good. When I went there tonight to eat I found that they have cut back a lot. We ordered the calamari and it no longer comes with any sauce. We ordered that dinner for two and it is now a lot less food than before. There was a lot less salad then what normally comes with the dinner for two. They now charge $4.99 for a small bottle of Perrier water. It is still a good place to eat but it is now a lot more expensive than before. read more

This was one of the best restaurants I have ever stumbled upon! I am from a small town which makes finding authentic Mediterranean or other ethnic cuisines hard to come by. I stopped in with my mom (who is Lebanese) and we were amazed with all of the authentic options on the menu. The food was incredible and the service was great. The food came out hot and presented beautifully. I had the felafel and Greek salad, which turned out to be the absolute freshest and best felafel I have ever had (the pita bread alone was to die for). Unfortunately I don't live near Montfort so I haven't been back since but I cannot wait to visit again. I would recommend this establishment to anyone who loves fresh, healthy food. Even if you're not familiar with Greek or middle easter cuisine, I guarantee you will find something you will love. As a restaurant owner myself, I am very grateful to have stumbled upon this place - I appreciate and applaud the owners for their industry excellence. read more

Service was good at first but then waitress disappeared. Waited 15 mins, no one around. My friend had to go to kitchen. A younger waitress came. We paid. She didn't ask us how meal was. The pork Souvlaki was mostly burned but once piece wasn't cooked. Last time eating there read more

This is my first restaurant review. I felt compelled to review this restaurant because I have never been treated so rudely by a restaurant manager in my life. First of all, I have been to the Montfort several times and enjoyed it. Today I went with my sister and I ordered fattoush salad with shwarma chicken. The chicken was almost inedible, being extremely dry and tasted bad. It seemed like it had been reheated a few times and had a very old taste. I explained this to the waitress. She asked what I wanted and I said I would appreciate not paying for the chicken since I had hardly eaten any. She came back and said the manager said there was nothing that could be done and that's the way shwarma is. I explained that I had shwarma many times including at this restaurant and this chicken was not right. She left to talk to the manager again. My sister and I were chatting and I observed that seeing the restaurant was empty perhaps that the chicken had been cut and then reheated on the grill (probably more than once). The manager had stood behind me and listened and in a very sarcastic voice said, no...the chicken was not reheated and the restaurant had been very busy. I said that I had enjoyed the shwarma many times there in the past and she had even served me and that this time there was something wrong with the chicken. At this point she became angry and said there was nothing they could do. I paid the bill and said "well, you've just lost a customer. The Paramount is only 5 minutes away" She then said very sarcastically "and it's cheaper too". This women's rude and arrogant attitude towards us was unbelievable. I will point out that it's the same woman as is in the photograph in an earlier review. As I said, in the past my sister and I had gone to the Montfort every few months when shopping at Meadowlands, but this will be the last time. This manager should take a lesson in customer service. What a horrible example she is setting for her staff. read more
