Lunch menu

Chips are not the light fluffy kind sold at some places. They are the thicker, crunchy kind. They were good though. The salsa is thin, no chunks of veggies in it. It was good and spicy. I read someone else had written it tasted like spicy tomato sauce. That comes down to personal taste I guess. Ordered the #3 lunch special for $5.00. It included a taco, an enchilada and rice and beans. The taco came out looking like someone had taken a bite from it. Obviously nobody did but a piece of the shell was missing. See picture. The meat was dry definitely won't order the taco again if I should ever visit in the future. The cheese enchilada was good and the tortilla seemed fresh. The beans and rice are average. Nothing to write home about. The restaurant was busy. It was prime lunchtime. The host was also the waiter for me. He did a good job of balancing the two jobs. Overall it was average and inexpensive , but for me, not craveable.

Good place to eat and has some great dishes and service to match. They even have a kid's cheeseburger with fries that is good.

Having a closing time of 10 but showing up at 9 and the doors are already locked isn't right. Needs to change.

La Perla - This might have looked boring, but man was it delicious! Steak fajita burrito platter.

I recently spent a few days in Greeneville on business and was looking at local restaurants for…read moredinner the first night. La Perla caught my attention. Going there was the right decision. La Perla is a local mom-and-pop Mexican restaurant and grocery. They butcher their own meats, and make their corn tortillas fresh. Everything we had was top quality. The salsa that comes out before ordering is some of the best I've had. It's a little chunky, which I love, and is obviously not processed. It's bright, fresh, and very flavorful. I ordered the aguachile, which is similar to ceviche: fresh shrimp marinated in lime juice with cucumbers, red onion, and avocado. This isn't something I ever see on Mexican menus around here, and it immediately caught my attention. It takes a little longer to arrive as the shrimp have to marinate before serving, but it is well worth the wait. Crisp and clean, with a nice tartness from the lime. This dish really made my night! I'd also ordered a classic street taco with lengua, which came out first, and it was delightfully sweet and tender. The fresh-made corn tortilla was tasty, and had just the right bit of crisp around the edges while still being a bit soft (but still holding up to the taco) in the middle. The folks who run La Perla are wonderful. I felt less like a restaurant guest and more like a friend stopping by. That plus a well-crafted meal made for a perfect dinner. My only regret is that I didn't have a chance to go back for a second meal, but I'll definitely be back.

Ordered the chicken steak shrimp fajita served in a pineapple half. Fantastic flavors & textures…read more The beans rice & salad were also great. The homemade corn tortillas were perfect for capturing the mix to my mouth. If I were more fluent in Spanish I would have enjoyed the ambiance more. Mexicans bands on the tv. Waitress was fluent in English to overcome my shortcomings.

So we ended up going here twice while we were in Greeneville - mostly because this location is…read moreclose to downtown and it's the only restaurant open besides what is in the hotel at General Morgan. The place is like any Mexican restaurant - nothing too fancy but serves up good Mexican food. We had the cheese dip both times and I was very please with the portion size and the taste was delicious. My first time, I order the enchiladas...let's just say I ordered a burrito the second time. For some reason the enchiladas were not that great. The burrito is small - almost the size of an enchiladas and they put a sauce on top - either red, cheese or guac. If we ever go back to Greeneville, TN - I know we will be eating here again.

On a Sunday afternoon when service is slow I make a call in order and place it they said 15-20 minutes I come 15 minutes later and go in and they never even took my order. They asked if I had called the other store I double checked and told them no they again "took my order" and asked if I wanted to wait another 15 minutes for them to make my order "again" so I waited then come in 10 minutes later and get my food and take it out to my car to eat it and everything is cold like it was made 30 minutes ago when I had first ordered it's bad communication and customer service.

The service was friendly and the food came out in less than 10 min which I was a little leary of at first, thinking there is no way it can be fresh or hot. It was both fresh AND hot. It was the right amount of food for two people. My spouse ordered the four ground beef enchiladas which came with minimal cheese sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, and rice. He had two bottles of corona beer. I originally wanted from the lunch menu but a dinner portion of one hard shell taco and one enchilada. I was in the mood for one chicken and one shrimp. I had to order from the dinner side and ended up with two hard shelled tacos. It was very dry in terms of no salsa or enchilada sauce. The tacos and rice were otherwise alright. We were Just very disappointed with the meal as both were very dry and hard to swallow. Need sauce (cheese, salsa or enchilada sauce), and more seasoning. The other big disappointment was my spouse was served first and I had to wait 10 minutes for my two tacos. Not sure if we will return or just order takeout and add my own sauce at home.
