I took my car with aftermarket parts. Called Tony prior to going and he was very helpful and asked me to bring it in. All around very helpful person. After he couldn't assist the issue, he asked his coworker to see if he can fix it. Clearly there was an issue with the vehicle and his coworker Armando came and checked out the car and he said there's no issue when I could clearly point out the issue. He refused to help me and was bragging about how much money he has and that Indians are cheap and can't buy parts and kept asking me how much money I had in my bank and that he has more cash that he can pull out right away. I would give zero stars if I could.  I've experienced the most terrible customer service at this mechanical shop. I called the owner, Tony, to schedule an appointment to check the issues underneath my car. I explicitly told him that he needed to lift my car up with his hoist for the inspection. Tony agreed to that and set up the time and date for my appointment. On the day of the appointment, I called Tony to let him know I was about to leave, and he said OK. I traveled from Costa Mesa to Bellflower around 3 PM on Tuesday. The traffic wasn't pleasant, and it took me almost an hour to get there. I arrived on time, but Tony was busy and asked me to wait. I waited outside the shop for half an hour, then I asked Tony when he could inspect my car, which should have been a quick 5 or 10-minute job. He said I should wait a little bit longer. I waited for another 40 minutes. When I asked him again, he told me that all three cars on the lifts wouldn't be able to be driven that day due to extra work. He asked me to come back another time and then just said thank you without even apologizing. I wasted more than three hours of my time here for nothing. He should have called me when he knew he couldn't work on my car, especially since I had called him before driving to his shop. Since his wife didn't work there to help handle administrative work, Tony needed to handle the extra burden. If he cannot fulfill a simple appointment, why should people trust him to work on their cars, especially for complicated jobs like spark plug, timing belt, or water pump replacements? These jobs require disassembly and reassembly with many parts, and he could easily mess up the job. Maybe that explains why my old car wouldn't drive properly a month after he replaced my spark plugs. While his repair costs might be lower, the quality and customer service are subpar. I would stay away from this place with a 9-foot pole. People should also be aware of the 1-star reviews here, and I think they speak the truth as well. I trusted my Lexus cars with Tony for years until he showed his real character around 8 to 10 years ago. Sorry this review is untimely, but it's better late than never. This review confirms Paolo B's bad experience with him. My other Lexus car  was exactly the same brand and color as his but mine looked newer and shinier than his. I relentlessly kept my cars inside the garage and maintained them regularly even if there were no problems or defects. Many times after each maintenance, something went bad/wrong with my car even after I paid him for new parts that he recommended to change. He always recommended to update parts even if they were still working and completely functional. One day after I pulled my car out of his crowded shop for regular maintenance with several new parts installed, my car got stucked in the middle of an intersection. I called AAA and had it towed to Tony's shop, and to my surprise he told me it would cost several thousands to fix it, but told me I dont have to spend a dime. He offered me to buy my car for $300. If I won't sell it to him, he told me he will have to charge me each day my car parked in his shop until I have it towed out. I decided to sell the car to him for his asking price and heard him comment that he liked the stereo system in my car which is lacking in his car. He always made a comment that my car was better than his. I'm not sure if he kept his car or my car or both because I never showed up again after that, but one thing I realized that he kept on recommending new parts to be installed and still ended up non-functional according to his "un"professional judgment and taking advantage by offering to buy it at a very low price. Don't be fooled by his friendliness. It would cost you more in the long run if you are not careful and mindful of what his cockiness and arrogance try to recommend you. read more

Although Montero's specializes in Toyotas and Lexuses (Lexi?), I took my mom's 2005 Nissan Pathfinder here to replace some very worn-down break pads and to fix the SUV's tire pressure. Tony was extremely helpful and wasted no time in having his staff get right to work on the car. While the Pathfinder was being serviced, I caught up on some Instagram action inside the shop's heated waiting area. The staff members made for nice conversation, and I'd estimate that my total waiting time for both procedures was around 45 minutes to an hour. Additionally, the Pathfinder's rear liftgate has been acting up recently - as it hasn't been able to remain lifted (which made moving furniture into a living hell about two weeks ago), and Tony was gracious enough to inquire with a local dealership over an estimate for the required parts. Basically, Montero's goes above and beyond the typical standards of service expected of an independent body shop. Parts can take time to locate for my car, so I usually have to order the parts online. MUST READ! I am not usually the type of person to give such a bad reviews but this guy is the worst! Never trust these workers. I came here thinking it would be a great place because of all the reviews, but I was wrong. Montero lied to me saying that my car was broken, that there was no way to fix it, and it was better off getting a new car. He offered to buy it for cheap and so I trusted him. A few days later I saw my car up and running perfectly, and he was selling it to another person way beyond the amount he paid for. I went to the buyer and asked how he got the car. He stated that he was in the market to buy a car but he felt bad because Montero told him earlier that he lied to his previous customer (me) just so he can make money. The only thing that needed fixing was a part of the engine that costed $50- claimed the buyer. This guy is a snake. He reps Filipino pride and family but all he cares about is the money. He'll pull you in by being friendly, but do not trust him. He over prices everything, he lies, and he's fake! If only I was able to give him 0 stars I would. I am extremely pissed of what he did. Worst auto service location ever. Montero gave me a hard time and the cost of the various services were extremely over priced. On top of that once I got my car fixed, the next day it continued to have the same problem. My suggestion is to just go to Walmart's or Costco's auto service instead, it is generic but at least they would do a much better job for a cheaper price. read more

Great place and Tony is trust worthy at a great price. I first had a tune up 4 months back and car went from 24mpg to 28mpg after. Now I just got my timing belts, water pump and seals all done along with my front break pads by Tony and my car feels amazing again. He gave me a great price and is very trust worthy. I have a Honda prelude so he had to order all the parts specifically for me, so only thing I can complain about is that it took a little longer than I'd like because his mechanic who works on hondas got sick.
