This is the shell gas station on the corner of pioneer and artesia. We had a flat tire and they denied us air, they Asian guy was really mean. My husband asked him very nicely as we were in an emergency situation and he didn't care. Thankfully we made it to chevron down the street and they gave us air for the tire. read more

If it was possible I would not even give 1 Star to this place because they are scamming customers. I have gone to this place many times for oil change mostly. At first it was $30 or $35 for corolla, I remember I did my scion for same price too. But next time for my scion he charged me $45 because he said synthetic oil this time. I was like I thought you told me synthetic oil last time too. He said no, I said okay paid. After that I didn't trust what oil they put in my car, so I bought my own oil and filter and had them put it for $15. Next time I was lazy to go get oil and filter so I paid $45 oil change with synthetic oil, later I put synthetic on Toyota too for $45 same day. Today I went for oil change he charged me $50 for oil change and when I asked why he said Toyota and scion different engine. This place rips you off and says whatever price they want. I would not recommend this place. What's the guarantee that they are actually even putting the oil we are paying for. Also today I was told $45 when I gave my keys at first. Their service seems to be generally ok. However, their pricing seems to be weird. They charged me $45 with oil change using regular oil when their signage outside says "$34 for most cars". Also, they declined to do tire change saying that they did not have time for that. Not sure how long it takes to do that service. Not particularly cheap, but all the mom and pop shops nearby close way too early on weekends (or just aren't open period) and that becomes an issue when weekends are the only days you can do maintenance for your car. My go to spot for our oil changes, start at $17.95. It's a gas station with a service garage so there is no waiting area except for a round table with 4 chairs set between the pumps and the door where u pay, very easy to get ran over. So if your getting something other than a quick oil change i suggest u leave your car. Service is usually fast for a simple oil change. Employees are polite and fast. Cant beat the price. read more

Pump did not work the first 3 times: inserted card, ok, tried to pump, nothing. Repeated twice. My son went in, prepaid. Worker came out and had me sign receipt (which is why I gave 3 stars, not one. I am currently injured and had the handicap sign up). Window washer had nothing but water, so of course, it did not clean my window. Gas was less expensive than Arco down the street. read more

When it comes to inexpensive and reliable gas in the Artesia and Cerritos area, I often go to this Shell gas station especially on Sundays where the price seems to be a few cents cheaper. I also noticed that my car runs better when I get my gas from Shell as opposed to Arco, 76, or Valero. It is convenient to the 91 fwy and is easily accessible from Artesia Blvd. or Pioneer Blvd. Plus, it is a safe area that is well lit and located on a busy intersection. I don't know who Nick is, but he must be doing something right because the gas prices are the best in the city! read more

However, since I'm Korean, I'm used to this kind of service and don't take it personally. I have been coming to this location for SMOG checks for a few years now. I honestly cannot say if I have met Nick in person but he does have a few associates that I have worked with. Keep in mind, they are just there to get the job done. They are not there to be your friend or sweet talk you during your visit. With this in mind, I never really have anything to complaints about their services. They are quick, efficient and reasonable in pricing. I paid $50 for my SMOG and digital cert. Several times, I went there for oil change, they get you with cheap oil change service fee, they showed me dirty oil from engine and told me that the oil from my transmission was dirty and asked if I wanted to have my transmission oil changed. He quoted her $450 max (includes parts and labor) to fix her car to pass smog inspection. I took her to pickup her car from Nick Shell Service and Nick gave us the total... $674.44. I was surprised that it was over $200 more than what was max quoted! What a rip off!!! Never again will I let my mom visit this establishment and warn other people to visit this place. Absolutely rude people there. NEVER GO THERE Unless you absolutely cannot recognize dishonest and LIARS. This place is full of CROOKS and LIARS! If you ask questions then the owner of this place Nick will start shouting on you. This is what happened to us recently. My friend visited this place to fix her car which had check engine light. It took them three weeks to figure out what is wrong with the car but they were not able to fix the car fully. They charge $50 to diagnose with their shitty computer and $100 to fix a $0.99 hose. When we asked if they can fully fix the car or not then Nick got mad and said "What I see wrong I'll fix first then we'll see if that can fix the problem or not." He has no idea what he was talking about. They don't even know how and where to fix the car for a particular OBD code. Their work is trial and error. And MOST IMPORTANT... if you are a woman then AVOID them, as other reviewers mentioned, THEY DO RIP OFF WOMEN. NICK is totally UNPROFESSIONAL. I wish I could give them -5 (Negative 5) stars but the system won't let me. And this one star is for Sean who was trying to work with us and was professional enough in talking and answering questions. NICK... I do understand your language when you asked Sean to move my car. Cool little place. Next to a car wash place also. Don't know if I would get my car worked on here unless I knew the people. Pretty decent prices considering it's near a freeway. Easy access from both sides of the adjoining streets. Never really broken or had any issues with the debit/credit card readers. It's on the way home so I usually go to this place. You shouldn't have to drive out of your way to get cheaper gas. It doesn't make sense. Just find the gas station you don't mind going to with the lowest price that is along the route you are already taking. That will save money and time in the long run. This place, even though it's near a freeway entrance, is usually cheaper or will match most other places along my route. Not comparing to arco, because I don't use arco. And I know all the gas is the same, I just don't like how I have to leave the gas stall to pay and get a receipt. Also, I don't like how my car acts with arco gas...yeah, it might be the same...it just might be in my head...but for some reason, arco gas just doesn't sit well my car. 2011 Evolution MR. :P *UPDATE* some Arco's are now upgrading/retrofitting individual card readers at the stalls now. :) nice! Takes: After hearing countless stories from the parents that Nick will take care of the van, I finally got a chance to meet him. He has been our go-to mechanic especially if one of our vehicles breaks down, needs an oil change, etc. for YEARS. Needless to say, he knows the family very well. Plus, this is a testament that he's been doing something right, especially since we've trusted him with our vehicles for as long as I could remember. Staff: Super attentive and friendly. They immediately directed the AAA tow truck to leave the van in a designated spot. I didn't really need to explain much to Nick. Our exchange was pretty much check what's wrong with the van, and call your family to pick you up; I'll be in touch with your dad. Turn around time: Usually, the service is done either the same day or within 2-3 depending on what needs work. Bottom line: Go here for your mechanic needs and change oil fix!
