The Good: High tech Rooms, there were so many switches it kind of got confusing going around figuring out which is for what light. Plenty of mood lighting and perfect lighting for when getting ready. The location was great, close enough to most downtown activities yet a little tucked away for a more peaceful environment. I do want to make a note this hotel is located right next to the shelter. To be honest that wasn't an issue for us. They kept themselves, there's always someone in the lobby so no unauthorized individuals can enter as elevator requires key. Staff was friendly from the moment we checked in, they held doors & greeted us each time. The room itself is modern, not much privacy though when it comes to shower, which is slightly tinted so when showering, anyone sitting in the room has full visuals. The bathroom floor is heated which was a nice touch. Found the bedding and pillows comfortable. The room is equipped with coffee pods & machine, creamer & milk in the fridge. Ample amount of towels and toiletries. The Ok: Though the room was cleaned, unfortunately our bathroom was not. We checked in very late so we were beyond exhausted only to come and find urine on the Toilet seat. The door was for the toilet didn't always close properly so not much privacy when it comes to that as well. Tips Overnight parking available on Daly street. (Free)

It is conveniently located a few mins away from Parliament Hill and the Royal Museum of Art. At the same time, it is in the Byward market district which is... kinda sketch. My room was clean and spacious - it is rare to see a walk-in closet in a normal room and free snacks (not just water). There's also a rooftop lounge / bar up top with amazing views of the city. Besides the location, my room could use a bit of maintenance in the bathroom (hard to adjust hot water, toilet making a weird noise while filling up, and power outlets being flimsy). However, the room was clean and relatively quiet. I liked their restaurant / breakfast options and friendly staff. Never had an issue. The Manager however sounded extremely passive aggressive when I asked them something. Now for the room, I did not like this place. When I got in the room, it was super small not worth the money. I got it for a staycation for Valentine's Day and the place was rather expensive... The bed was comfy tho. The bathroom however was so cheap, standing shower (no glass door) with a shower curtain, drain semi-clogged, water would flow onto the flooring and it made the bathroom wet. Had to put a towel on the ground so we didn't make a swimming pool in there. I expected more for what I paid and was pretty disappointed with what I got.

The maid quickly came and cleaned the bathroom. They had free wifi and free parking Sleep quality: we slept very well. The mattress was comfortable and clean, the pillows were great. Breakfast: they offer a continental breakfast feom 6am to 10am. They had many options! Coffee, juices, waffle machine, bagels, muffins, boiled eggs, cereal, oranges, apples, and peanut butter, jam, cream cheese, honey, butter, maple syrup, milk. The hotel did not have a pool but we personally had no need for it. Overall a great experience. I would recommend this hotel to anyone

Would recommend the Fairmont Chateau Laurier over here but this hotel isn't bad, just not quite on the caliber of history and luxury of there for the price charged and the Confederation Park views are nowhere as quite as spectacular as the Parliament views of Chateau Laurier.

I have stayed in Four Star hotels in other countries, and I wouldn't consider this hotel to be on an upscale, top-notch level. The exterior and interior felt dated and unimaginative. The reception desk was hard to locate. Upon entering through the main doors, you must turn right, then left to check in. The waiting area, near the entrance, had hard, uncomfortable chairs, and sofas. I appreciated the secure, underground, parking garage, but there was a moment of panic when the key card didn't work once, and we were promptly given a replacement at the reception desk. That being said, the beds in the hotel room were quite comfortable. However, the rest of the room reinforced the dated feel. The bathroom was functional, but basic, featuring only a standard bathtub/shower combination, not the separate upscale shower or high-end fixtures one often finds in a Four Diamond hotel. We ordered room service twice, and both times the service was friendly and quick. The menu had a lot of variety, and the amount of food was plentiful, really even being enough for two people. I tried the fish and chips and the risotto and they were both good. We didn't dine in the main restaurant, but we did try to explore the leisure amenities. We wandered upstairs and saw the huge rooms used for conferences and wedding receptions. Unfortunately, the poor internal signage meant we couldn't easily find the pool and spa services.

My check-in here was the most un-Hilton-like check-in experience I have ever had. Fortunately, my…read morestay got better after the first 5 minutes. When I checked in, the very young woman with whom I did my check-in was about as un-friendly as I have ever experienced. I had to pronounce and spell my 4-letter last name multiple times. I had to show her my ID twice. And then, I got: "Your ID says 'William,' and the reservation is for Bill." She didn't not seem to understand or accept that Bill is a nickname for William. In the over 20 years and over 200 stays I've had at Hilton's, this has never been an issue. I finally had to pull out my phone, pull up the app, and read the confirmation number to her. Instead of "Thank you," she ATTEMPTED to lecture me that I should change my profile name to William. Again, 200+ stays, 20+ years, same Honors profile. I would have gotten more welcoming treatment from Wednesday Addams. Every other person at the hotel with whom I interacted was friendly and all smiles. Interestingly, I did not see this young woman working at the desk for the rest of my stay. I haven't gotten an email with an opinion survey, but I did take the business card of the manager for some comments. My room and bed were comfortable, but not really noise-proof. I could hear most traffic on the road outside, and noise from neighboring rooms. Breakfast here is BUSY. That is perhaps because there are no other places to eat in the immediate vicinity. The breakfast area was not big enough to accommodate everyone, so every morning the diners spill out to the tables in the lobby. To their credit, the staff were constantly refilling supplies. They even had someone manning the waffle station, which definitely sped things up and undoubtedly reduced the amount of mess that might have been produced there otherwise. Parking is underground and complimentary, using your room key for access. The ramp down is steep. The intersection in front of the hotel is a popular site for panhandlers. When traffic stops, they approach every car unabashedly asking for money. This is not a hotel problem, just something for your awareness if you are traveling west from the hotel. The hotel does have conveniences. This includes the parking and breakfast. If you are willing to walk about 10 minutes, you can also access the Red Line easily.
