We were having renovations done in our house, and decided to spend a night at a hotel and have a little "staycation". The hubby has been to several events at the Brookstreet and raves about it, and recommended that we stay the night there. The hotel was not busy, possibly due to being in a pandemic. Most of the action being at the little café at the entrance of the hotel. We were able to check in early around noon, which was great. I'm not sure if that would always be the case during "regular" times. We booked the junior suite, which has a separate living room area, away from the bedroom. Both rooms were pretty roomy. My kid loved running back and forth to each room. The rooms did show some age to it with some wear on tear on the walls and in the bathroom. The vents were also dusty and needed a good clean, with a dead earwig hanging from one. The room was not cheap in price, so I expected a little more, and it definitely did not look as luxe as advertised online. I also did not like the hard headboard. The amount of times my kid banged her head on it was not fun. The bed itself was OK, not as comfy as I was expecting, but that is just my opinion. The stay overall though was nice. The hotel was super quiet, and peaceful. I do regret not checking out the hotels restaurant, Perspectives, as I heard it's amazing. Checkout is at noon which is always appreciated for a late sleep in.

You're staying here for one of two reasons: * You're a fan a visiting team playing the Senators * You're visiting one of the tech companies nearby If you have a choice, get a room in the back overlooking the golf course. Some of the rooms are quite large: there were three kinds of suites. The rooms are fine but show their age. Try not to look too close at the worn carpet or the closet doors that don't completely close. There's not enough power outlets and the wireless isn't strong in the corner rooms. The hotel has lots of amenities: a restaurant, jazz lounge, Starbucks, gym and a pool. The Starbucks coffee drinks come out of a machine but tasted fine. Sadly, the food there was my breakfast both mornings. The brookburger in the restaurant was an experience. It had a bazillion caramelized onions and a tiny amount of bacon. But the sweet & smoky sauce -- holy swamp burger. Too sweet and too much of it. I like the hotel and will likely stay here again. I just won't get the burger.

I stayed here for business because it is close to the office. The hotel is very nice and the room was large and comfortable but there is nothing to do in walking distance. There is a pub nearby, which is fine, but there is nothing else. You really need a car, taxi, or uber if you want any food other than the hotel food.

Flew to Ottawa to chase the Vegas Golden Knights for game against Senators and was surprised to see so many other Vegas fans when we arrived. Right after we checked in Jonathan Marchessault walked by and we chatted with him for a second. Regarding Brookstreet Hotel, very nice place. Had dinner at Presentations (Saw George McPhee and Kelly McCrimmon, who noted our Knights attire). Service and food were both awesome. Bar has live jazz music every most night played at a level that you can enjoy and still carry on a conversation.

Aging and tired, the furniture is peeling, tile is poorly repaired, drywall is damaged, weird stains on the furniture, and for some reason the ceiling... The staff is unfriendly and downright rude. One window doesn't open and one won't shut. Beautiful view of the neighboring business parking lot. Don't waste your time. I have stayed at nicer Holiday inns. When I contacted guest services who showed me a different room in just as bad condition. The first redeeming quality to this room is that the giant spider building a web is on the outside of the window.

Parking is free as is WIFI (it was fairly quick). We had supper at Graffiti's which is in the hotel. We split an order of bruschetta. It was okay. Danny and Steve also split an order of calamari. I ordered chicken parm ... I love love love chicken parm and this wasn't great. Steve ordered spaghetti and meatballs ... he said it was pretty good. I wished I'd ordered it too! Danny ordered a Sicilian pizza (pepperoni, bacon and sun-dried tomatoes) ... he said it was pretty good. Jennifer was our server and took good care of us. So I'd recommend the hotel but not the restaurant.

I received two complimentary breakfast coupons for each morning. The coupon was good for up to one of my best eggs benedict breakfasts or about $13 CD. Per my profile preference my room #903 was on the upper 9th executive floor. My room cost $210 CD. Another positive note was the very nice white cotton robe awaiting for me on my bed. My only complaint with my room was that the air-conditioner was not cool enough during the day when the sun entered through the window's shear curtains. The room darkening drapes were permanently fixed to the window so I could not close the window darkening drapes to keep the sun out. The sheer curtains did not help much to reduce the sun or heat from the sun. Eventually I had to open the small window to let the cooler evening air in with the local street noise. Most hotels only allow you to partially open the windows so you can't jump out from your room. Also the flat screen HDTV in the room was only 32-inches. I wish the screen was larger. I would still return here to try a different room from what I had because I liked the location of this hotel, which is adjacent to a shopping mall and near my meetings. Also the hotel is only about 20 minutes away from downtown.

There are three guest suites each meant for two adults, so at any given time there are at max 6 adult guests. Combined with being out in the country, this means that it is nice and QUIET! A rare and refreshing quality. There are many things to praise but I cannot continue without mentioning that Susie and Mark, the owners, are the best asset of this business. They are both incredibly welcoming, hospitable, and attentive, while also being conscious of giving you space as a guest to do your thing. Upon checking in, Susie sat down with us to discuss breakfast. She is careful to note any allergies or aversions, and to review the menu in advance! We were able to schedule our breakfast for any time between 7-9am. Breakfast itself was generous and more importantly, delicious! We had yogurt with fruit and homemade granola, quiche, potatoes, a stuffed tomato, juice, and all the coffee we could drink. The last thing I want to focus on is that this house is remarkably CLEAN. Susie and Mark have two friendly, quiet dogs and two cats, but unless you are looking right at them you'd never know it. I am actually allergic to dogs and cats, and had zero reaction during my two night stay. In her past Susie worked in a healthcare field and it shows...this is one of the cleanest houses I've ever been in. But it did not feel sterile and cold, quite the opposite. I happened to be visiting for a wedding in Kanata but I will happily stay at Moonstone Manor anytime I need to be in the Ottawa area. It's a quick 20 minute drive downtown to the ByWard Market/Parliament/National Gallery/etc. I can't see myself ever getting a hotel in the city knowing that this is an option. All that to say, if you are thinking of staying here, do it!
