I brought my other grandchildren down with me so they could see their baby brother and I got there an hour early which I know check in time isn't until 2 o'clock, but I was hoping that they would allow me to park there for an hour before I checked in. If not, I would've been OK with that, but I was attacked as soon as I got there outside. I stepped outside the truck three parking spaces over from where people smoked, which was more than 20 m away from the door it did not have no smoking signs or anything like that. I had a smoke and as I was having my smoke, she come flying out the door yelling at me that I'm not allowed to smoke there and get back in my truck and leave. I told her I'm not getting back in my truck for a smoke because my grankids are in there. She told me to get over there and smoke. I said I'm not leaving my kids in the truck. She said then put it out and then threaten me that I wasn't gonna be able to stay there if I Didn't. then asked me if I was checked I. yet and I said no because check in is 2:00 but I was going to see if I can get permission to park my truck there for an hr until I checked in. I would pay a fee if they wanted and she yelled at me.. nope your not, you can leave. I was shocked at her behaviour, ppl are there because we have loved ones in CHEO so you're already stressed and then you get that as soon as you pull in. I believe it was the assistant manger cause she was parked In front of the sign. I arrived June 3rd 2026. She was also very rude to my daughter who let her know that there was pills spilled on the floor in the lounge. It's like she blamed her. And my son in law when he walked in the door at night after having a smoke, he had to buzz to get in and when she let him in, he started to walk to his room and she yelled.. hello... you need to wait til the door clicks before you walk away. Someone like that should NOT be working at a place where ppl are already stressed about loved ones. As far as other workers and housekeeping staff, they were all nice

Convenient and comfortable hotel for a nice extended weekend stay. We reserved a room for the…read moreRemembrance Day long weekend for 3 nights. It is conveniently located just of Hwy 417, just minutes from downtown and across the street from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Downside is that there are no restaurants or stores in the area, so you have to drive a couple of miles to eat or shop. Our 2 queen bed room had plenty of amenities with shower/tub, 37" LCD TV, coffeemaker, microwave, clothes iron (& board) and wall mounted hairdryer. The mini refrigerator even had a working freezer, which was convenient to refreeze our blue-ice packs for our return trip and didn't have to use the ice machine down the hall. There are plenty of 120V plus a few USB outlets to charge all your laptops, phones, tablets, Fitbits, digital cameras and DVD players. We never go on vacation now without a full electronics suite. WiFi is complimentary, but can be somewhat of a pain by making you log back on constantly if your device times out. It's barely fast enough to stream a movie, but is adequate for your Yelping needs. Check-in was a breeze and you can park your car in the underground garage, which is included in your room rate. Enter through the automated roll top doors past the hotel entrance. There were plenty of spaces during our stay, but I can see it filling up during peak season. The elevator goes straight down to the garage level, so you don't have to go outside in the cold. The hotel also has a pool on the 4th floor, which we didn't use (it's 27°F/-3°C in November!), but we did use the small fitness center. Complimentary breakfast is a must when I look for hotels. It's served every day from 6am-10am in the dining area past the front desk. Hot food includes an egg dish (scrambled or cheese omelette), a meat dish (sausage or Canadian bacon) and sometimes a potato. You can also make your own fresh Belgian waffle on the 2 flip-top waffle irons, along with toasted bagels, muffins, cut fruit and juice. For all the caffeine addicted, coffee is served all day. The room rate was pretty good at CA$119 (US$89) per night, but the final bill for the special deal was for 1/2 price on the 3rd night (2 nights x $143 + 1 night x $71.50). It's not the hotel's fault, but just be aware of all the applicable taxes. The Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) is 13%, plus the Municipal Accommodations Tax (MAT) is 4% and then on top of those, they charge another 4% MAT on the 13% HST! Yikes, what a racket!

My check-in here was the most un-Hilton-like check-in experience I have ever had. Fortunately, my…read morestay got better after the first 5 minutes. When I checked in, the very young woman with whom I did my check-in was about as un-friendly as I have ever experienced. I had to pronounce and spell my 4-letter last name multiple times. I had to show her my ID twice. And then, I got: "Your ID says 'William,' and the reservation is for Bill." She didn't not seem to understand or accept that Bill is a nickname for William. In the over 20 years and over 200 stays I've had at Hilton's, this has never been an issue. I finally had to pull out my phone, pull up the app, and read the confirmation number to her. Instead of "Thank you," she ATTEMPTED to lecture me that I should change my profile name to William. Again, 200+ stays, 20+ years, same Honors profile. I would have gotten more welcoming treatment from Wednesday Addams. Every other person at the hotel with whom I interacted was friendly and all smiles. Interestingly, I did not see this young woman working at the desk for the rest of my stay. I haven't gotten an email with an opinion survey, but I did take the business card of the manager for some comments. My room and bed were comfortable, but not really noise-proof. I could hear most traffic on the road outside, and noise from neighboring rooms. Breakfast here is BUSY. That is perhaps because there are no other places to eat in the immediate vicinity. The breakfast area was not big enough to accommodate everyone, so every morning the diners spill out to the tables in the lobby. To their credit, the staff were constantly refilling supplies. They even had someone manning the waffle station, which definitely sped things up and undoubtedly reduced the amount of mess that might have been produced there otherwise. Parking is underground and complimentary, using your room key for access. The ramp down is steep. The intersection in front of the hotel is a popular site for panhandlers. When traffic stops, they approach every car unabashedly asking for money. This is not a hotel problem, just something for your awareness if you are traveling west from the hotel. The hotel does have conveniences. This includes the parking and breakfast. If you are willing to walk about 10 minutes, you can also access the Red Line easily.

The Good: High tech Rooms, there were so many switches it kind of got confusing going around figuring out which is for what light. Plenty of mood lighting and perfect lighting for when getting ready. The location was great, close enough to most downtown activities yet a little tucked away for a more peaceful environment. I do want to make a note this hotel is located right next to the shelter. To be honest that wasn't an issue for us. They kept themselves, there's always someone in the lobby so no unauthorized individuals can enter as elevator requires key. Staff was friendly from the moment we checked in, they held doors & greeted us each time. The room itself is modern, not much privacy though when it comes to shower, which is slightly tinted so when showering, anyone sitting in the room has full visuals. The bathroom floor is heated which was a nice touch. Found the bedding and pillows comfortable. The room is equipped with coffee pods & machine, creamer & milk in the fridge. Ample amount of towels and toiletries. The Ok: Though the room was cleaned, unfortunately our bathroom was not. We checked in very late so we were beyond exhausted only to come and find urine on the Toilet seat. The door was for the toilet didn't always close properly so not much privacy when it comes to that as well. Tips Overnight parking available on Daly street. (Free)

Where do i begin? I traveled to Holiday Inn East Ottawa IHG in Ontario Canada and unfortunately I…read morehad a terrible experience. I booked 2 nights. Upon arrival I quickly realized there were hundreds of children, mostly boys, staying at the hotel for a hockey tournament. This should be mentioned or posted prior to booking but of course money is the focus, not the comfort of the guest. Night #1- While checking in, the staffer was pleasant but failed to mention that I needed to register my vehicle with the hotel on a different site so I wouldn't be towed or get a ticket. If i hadn't come downstairs to purchase a snack I would've never known this very important piece of info. Why is this separate from the check in process? Why not register my car while I'm checking in? When I mentioned that no one told me this, the 2nd staffer that assisted me insisted that I was told at check in. ( she was no where around at the time so how could she know who told me what - short, stout, Indian woman with brown skin) And I quote " Yes, someone did tell you. We have to tell everyone " . I sternly told her that NO ONE told me about the car registration. Instead of her apologizing she handed me the display and smugly asked me to scan the barcode and register my vehicle. After my mediocre dinner/appetizer because of a limited menu I returned to my room. The chaos began. Children, mostly boys, running up and down the halls from the time I checked in from 2pm until 10pm. I called the front desk several times with no reprieve. The banging, screaming, running, yelling, laughing, knocking on guest doors and running, away, running in and out of the exits and slamming doors all went on until 10pm. The front desk said " we have a no noise policy but it doesn't go into effect until 10pm. I will send the security guard but there's nothing else we can do. Night#2 , more of the same. Went to the front desk to re register my vehicle to correct the dates for check out and adjust my booking. An Asian female ( about 5'5, pale skin with a blond or white streak in her hair) barely looked at me and adjusted my booking with such distain. She snidely and with much arrogance asked " will holding another $100 be a problem for you"? As if I couldn't afford to stay there!! Rude rude rude! She clearly did not want to be at work. No hospitality at this hotel. Duly noted! Again, Children running up and down the halls, a hockey fort set up in the hallway, more running in and out of the exits and slamming the doors. The parents are in the halls with the children, condoning this behavior while blatantly disregarding and disrespecting everyone who booked a room on that floor. When I called the front desk a woman answered and said she would have the security guard come up. No one ever came. I got a call from the front desk Supervisor, Lynn, who stated she talked with the children and they would stop. Talked with the children? What about talking with their parents? Besides that, it was a lie. I was standing in the hallway waiting for the security guard and no one ever came. The boys were even calling and antagonizing me. " Mum, hello, hello! What do you want" said one of them. I called the front desk again and asked for a full refund. I was willing to leave the Holiday Inn and find a new hotel because this was ridiculous. I also threatened to call the police. Once again, Lynn called me back and offered a suite on the top floor where there were no children and a complimentary breakfast. Why didn't this happen the 1st night? Why did it take all of this for me to get an accommodation? I'm giving this Hotel 2 stars because It was clean, Lynn offered the accommodation and Samir( in the Myra restaurant) is wonderful host. My breakfast experience was great ( btw there is no complimentary breakfast. When booking it says the breakfast is included) Samirs colleague however, absolute TRASH! A young, stout, white male with curly, dirty blond hair. His name started with an L , I think. He was moving fast and doing nothing so no one could ask him for anything so I wasn't able to read his name tag. Ignoring guest, being disrespectful, standing behind the counter wrapping silverware while Samir did all the work attending to guest. I definitely will not return and I will be contacting IHG. Parking lot filled with snow and ice. Having to add another $100 hold on my credit card because of a booking adjustment. When checking out I was provided with a receipt but I have a feeling there will be some hidden charges. Again, Lynn and Samir, great people. The rest of the staff needs a lesson in hospitality.

Pros: Since it's away from downtown, parking at the hotel is only $13 a night. Soap, shampoo, lotion and cups were always replenished. Great room service. Towels were clean and soft. Beautiful view from room since we selected room with lanai, parliament view. They have several rooms with a lanai so we could sit outside to enjoy the view of the parliament over the river and dry some clothes. Air con and outside was quiet and clean rooms. Hotel is walking distance of the museum of Canadian history. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Cons: Room smelled like smoke or musty first walking in. They always gave 1 towel short. Lots of bugs outside, and when I opened the bathroom window, the screen didn't keep them out, so we had gnats on the ceiling while bathing that one night. No breakfast, no safe in room or lockbox, and the room key could not open the exercise room. Overall, I'd book here again because of the awesome view, clean rooms, room service and reasonable rates.
