I wish they had outlets throughout the valley and offered loafs of bread that kept me up at night Remember they use butter, flour & sugar. You may recall what you ate that put on the fat. These folks know how to bake. It will definitely leave reminders all over your body. Thank God all bakeries aren't this good or I would add a hundred pounds of great memories.

I also ordered an iced coffee, and while the flavor itself was really good, I was a little disappointed to find quite a bit of coffee grounds/sediment at the bottom of my cup. Once I got toward the bottom, it made the coffee taste pretty grainy and unpleasant. I went back and asked if they could remake it, and the staff was kind enough to do so. Unfortunately, the second coffee still had a small amount of grounds at the bottom. It was much less than the first one, so I decided not to go back for a third time. I'm not sure if this was just an issue with the batch or the way the coffee was prepared that day, but it was a little disappointing, especially from a bakery with Bouchon's reputation. Aside from that, the coffee itself tasted good, the macarons were delicious, and I'm glad we stopped in. I would definitely return for the pastries and macarons--I just hope the coffee preparation is a little better next time.

Truly inventive savory macarons that stand out among all the other Yountville bakeries…read more My friend was raving about the elote macarons she'd had before, so she insisted we head over so I could try them, too. Madeleine's Macarons is right across the street from RH Yountville. The interior is clean and minimal. They also offer a variety of sandwiches and crepes, in addition to drinks, gelatos, and the large pastry case of macarons. Service was friendly, but could be slow because it's just 1 person manning the whole shop. As noted before, Madeleine's offers your standard macaron flavors, in addition to some fun sweet flavors like Watermelon Tajin, as well as savory flavors. I honestly don't know why more spots aren't offering these savory versions, because they are AMAZING. In addition to my friend buying a pack of 6 elote macarons, I tried the: strawberry balsamic, thyme & feta with hazelnuts, apple gorgonzola & almond, watermelon tajin, passionfruit, and orange creamsicle. With the exception of the apple gorgonzola, all the flavors were perfectly balanced and delicious. I especially enjoyed the watermelon tajin and the thyme & feta. The elote was also amazing, and had a slight tang. I would have loved more apple in the apple gorgonzola, but it still had a wonderful texture. Of note, however, is that the matcha latte I got was a bit underwhelming. I added the pistachio rose syrup, but could barely taste it. It can be hard to stand out in Yountville among all the other bakeries, but Madeleine's offers something truly unique.

They have a combination of standard flavors (think espresso, pistachio, chocolate) and unique sweet and savory options. It's a small storefront with two tables inside and some outdoor seating. The service was friendly and quick as well. We got 3 macarons to try for $10 - a lavender, watermelon tajin, and apple gorgonzola. Surprisingly the lavender was my least favorite despite us choosing it as a "safe" option - the filling was almost soapy in taste and felt slightly gritty/oily. The watermelon tajin had the flavor of a jolly rancher and also bubblegum and was very unique and interesting to try. The apple gorgonzola was likely my favorite, with the macarons have a sour apple taste and the filling being more creamy with buts of funk and umami from the gorgonzola cutting through. Overall, lots of unique fun flavors at Madeline's and I'm glad I gave it a try! I'm definitely impressed by how they were able to capture this wide variety of flavors in macaron form, and the macaron cookies themseslves are wonderful in texture.

From valet parking to tea and latte towards the end of the meal, this experience was one of a kind! This place had all the charm of a beautiful restaurant nestled in a beautiful place in Europe. Napa's beauty shines through when it pours and the restaurant at Auberge du Soleil just adds more charm to it's beauty. I could not get enough of their bloody mary and kept it coming. Please note that only one drink is included in the brunch so anything extra or off the brunch menu would be changeable. Aurko opted for their grapefruit mimosa and loved it too! The housemade pastries, artisinal bread and muffins were included in the sunday brunch and on the house. We definitely asked them to fill up the basket the second time as the lemon curd and blueberry muffins were out of this world! To begin with, we both opted for the oysters. 6 oysters per person served with ginger mignonette- the perfect starter. We love fresh oysters and they were perfect. We also asked for an ala carte menu to order some more items and ordered 6 more oysters for the table. We also ordered some fried crispy calamari. It was plentiful and delicious. Very light batter and exceptional flavor! For the mains, my husband opted for the seared yellowfin tuna and I chose the sonoma chicken. Our entrees were amazing! The sides were delicious! We both chose housemade malekula island vanuatu chocolate creameux and it was FANTASTIC! The passionfruit puree and the muscovado ice cream brought all the flavors together in a medley of sweet symphony in my mouth! We both ordered tea and latte (not included in the brunch) and they were both delicious. Aurko ordered the barley tea and my latte was just perfect! My goodness this was a BEAUTIFUL experience! We had asked for a window seat but we were seated by the fireplace and it was just amazing! The view was better from sitting a little back. Front row seat and you first look at the spots on the glass and then the view tbh. This was an experience I would go for again. We were treated with love and kindness and we were given exceptionally good service. The head server was John or Jake. I'm sorry I don't remember his name but he was very very sweet. He's the one who first greeted the guests on every table and gave them menus. He was knowledgeable and amazing! I cannot wait to come back with my love and enjoy beautiful Napa from the eyes of the restaurant at Auberge du Soleil

2.5/5 stars Nothing…read morehurts quite like bringing family to a restaurant you've spent years hyping up. I've been coming to Farmstead over the years and it was one of my favorite recommendations for those visiting St. Helena. I've sent friends, family and out-of-town visitors here, often raving about how good it was. So when I took my immediate family to Farmstead a few weeks ago, I made a reservation, drove over 40+ minutes from the southern part of Napa Valley and genuinely looked forward to returning. Making reservation online was easy, parking is available (although it can feel like a competitive sport once everyone decides to arrive at the same time), the covered outdoor seating remains lovely, the barn transformed to a dining room with its high ceilings is still a beautiful space and the bathrooms were clean. Unfortunately, the food was simply didn't live up to what I remembered. We started with the cheddar biscuits with honey butter. I expected warm, tender biscuits. Instead each of the biscuits were surprisingly, almost as if they've been left in the oven a few minutes too long. The honey butter tried its best to salvage the situation, but was unsuccessful. We also ordered the fried eggplant which skipped right past golden brown and headed directly into "left in the fryer during a staff meeting" territory. For entrees, two of us ordered the steak frites. The cut of the day was a flank steak and we both ordered medium rare. Mine arrive firmly in the medium-well territory. It's disappointing when your steak lands two doneness levels above what you requested. A friend ordered the grass-fed cheeseburger medium. It also came out well beyond that point, dry and crumbly rather than juicy. He was expecting a burger. What showed up as something closer to a semi-palatable hockey puck. The wood-grilled heritage pork chop was probably the strongest dish at the table. At $52, however, we were expecting something memorable. It was fine. Perfectly acceptable. But "perfectly acceptable" isn't exactly the reaction you're hoping for at that price point. Dessert was a small bowl of stracciatella gelato. That's it. No wafer, no cookie, waffle cone shard, no sprig of mint or garnishment to make it feel finished. I can see wanting to accommodate dietary restriction like those who are gluten-free, but it would have been nice to have an optional accompaniment. We kept the drinks simple. Service was fine. Total bill came out to be about $330 for lunch with tip. What stood out wasn't the cost, but the lack of excitement or something being memorable. You're dining at a popular restaurant in Napa Valley, you're going to be paying a premium. At our table, nobody was particularly excited about the meal they had or interested in taking home any leftovers. Maybe it was an off day. Maybe nostalgia elevated my memories beyond reality. Whatever the reason, this experience felt very different from the Farmstead I've enthusiastically recommended over the years. The restaurant was very busy with a steady stream of people coming through the entire time while we were there, so clearly plenty of diners continue to enjoy it. But based on this visit, I don't see myself recommending it the way I once did. I'm just one customer. Still, this was a disappointing return to what had long been one of my favorites in St. Helena.

I've been to Bouchon 3x but this most recent experience was not held up to the usual expectations and delivery that presumes its renowned reputation. Starting off with the positives -- I wanted my first escargot experience to be at Bouchon and I'm glad it was. Flaky puff pastry on top of parsley-garlic butter doused escargot were utterly divine. You can also never go wrong with their oysters; something about them just taste different here and in the best way. Steak frites is what my husband and I usually order as a staple entree, but this time, both of our steaks came out to be cooked rare instead of medium rare. We did appreciate how they gave us new ones that were then cooked as ordered, but they had also replaced the fries with new ones that were soggy. And who likes soggy fries? Especially since we paid a little extra for them to be truffle fries. To be fair, I did see that they lost their 1 Michelin star, and unfortunately this dinner somewhat could have alluded to why. Nonetheless, I still love this place and have hope that they can reclaim their high regard.

And the food is great. We haven't had a bad dish. My wife craves their chicken when it is available. The onion gratinee is divine and even just sitting out on the patio enjoying a seafood platter and wine feels completely decadent. Sounds weird, but you've got to try the deviled eggs. They will change how you think of deviled eggs forever. It's a Napa classic, but that doesn't mean it isn't good, because it most certainly is!
